I totally agreed with you on toiletries !! I've always been doing what you said ! Lol. We can't bring everything from our homes to do all the routines !! LOLLOL With those strict regulations ,no way !! Lol. Especially if we wanna carry on only trips !! Like you said ! I usually buy travel sized things I usually use daily ! Of course, we can buy travel size containers/ transfer them into those ,but, I find cheap kinds are cheap for the reason !! And I need to label some of them to distinct ,I buy travel sized skin care goods !! And guess what ,by doing so ,I can buy many more for my skin care routines !! 😊And they actually last for a long time !! So,win/ win situation to me !! I can get to try more stuff ,saving money because of that & last for long time & I don't waste them as they aren't in large quantities!! I use stick type lotions , I use sheet masks instead . But,for shoes ...we have to bring another pr at least !! Bras ,too ! It's a hygiene issue !! Lol Also ,in case some accident happens ,you'll have another pair at least !! Very good video ! 👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️💞
since I'm usually cold in airports and plane I always have a jacket hoodie with zippered pockets stashed with sanitizer, wipes, snacks, wallet- and yes I'll try to wear most of my layers like joey with my hidden sling underneath pushed to side onto plane😅 I want to love this soft sided bag so much more than the hardshell red Takeoff upgrade you reviewed before but I wish Underseat pro designers would please add a built in TSA lock cause if my purse, meds, gear, docs are all in that bag I would worry that it could be taken on converter belt or carousel while im in line cause lock keys couldn't be on my person thru xray or pat down😞 tbh i dont know how key padlocks will sell in future cause keys get lost and who can remember combinations. I have a box piled with old broken locks and mismatched keys😅. The only lock I have are the teeny tiny steel wired lock that is small enough to fit any tiny gym locker or zipper pull. PLEASE share that with them and ill buy it in a heartbeat 😊 I like the light Heys cube cause it's got give but i would prob go with 2 sided cube just for more structure and and separation if there's not going to be room for dirty laundry. my meds, documents and battery pack are heaviest in my bag so anything i need for toiletries first aid i try to find in reusable spray or rollerball dispenser or in wipes form cause they don't count towards liquids and pack smaller /flatter.
Thanks for the tips, hacks and reminders. Something I learned is that if you wear your fanny pack around your waist, it is considered a personal attire, NOT a personal item. If you wear it around your shoulder (like many do so lately... more fashionable way) it's considered a personal item.
Lauren, I love your videos, but I'm a big guy, just like Brian. It seems like your videos are primarily aimed at women. I really appreciate the concept of the capsule wardrobe. Would you consider making a video where you pack for a week for Brian? You could use him as a model and demonstrate the variety of outfits a capsule wardrobe for men can offer. He's great in front of the camera, as I've seen in the cameos he's done. I hope you'll take my suggestion into consideration. Keep up the excellent work! Oh, if you decide to make the video, make sure you use the underseat pro suitcase, I just ordered mine!! THANK YOU!
We’ve thought about it, but he really only has one pair of jeans that he wears all week and a handful of shirts. And his favorite pair of shoes. He doesn’t have much of a variety at all. So we can, but it’s basically a small packing cube of colorful golf shirts.
Honestly, everything in the video is pretty much universally applicable imo. I'm a bigger person, too, so I can't necessarily pack as many individual pieces of clothing as someone half my size (since my clothes just physically take up more space), but the principles still apply. When I'm pressed for room, I pack fewer bottoms and more tops - tops are more noticeable and, for me, less repeatable (I sweat a lot on my upper body, so although I can comfortably reuse a pair of trousers several times, the same is not true for tops). For a week away, I'd probably pack two pairs of very neutral trousers, wearing a third on the plane. I generally want at least one slightly dressier pair (e.g. for if I go to a theater or a niceish dinner) and one comfortable but not too athleisure-y (e.g for walking around all day, maybe visiting museums or churches - if visiting holy &/or fancy sites, these probably can't be shorts). The third can lean either way, depending on where I'm going and what I plan on doing. I'd try to fit at least one top per day in my packing if at all possible. As with the trousers, I'll want at least one niceish blouse (maybe a nice button-down, for men), but mostly I just pack my day-to-day tops. I try to pick stuff that dries quickly, in case I need to give anything a quick wash in the sink, but if your bottoms are all fairly neutral then your tops can be kind of whatever.
Lauren, I laughed so hard that I snorted. "You could take a whole packing cube and stuff it down your pants, if you want to." And showing Joey when talking about wearing clothing on the plane. Looking forward to your review of the new Underseat Pro. Hopefully, the modifications are a positive. Thank you again for another informational, and humorous, video. 😊
I actually had a gate agent in Australia tell me to put stuff down my pants and in my pockets when my bag was overweight 😂😂 And yes, the modifications are great! They were made mainly because frontier is crazy!
Lauren, thank you so much for previously recommending Underseat Pro! You said that the company was amazing, and you were definitely telling the truth! I purchased their laptop backpack, which is also amazing, for my trip in September. There was a problem with the snap on the handle wrap (the thing that connects the two straps with the material snaps). It was too late to return the bag through Amazon, so I sent a message to the company website. The ceo texted me back within 15 minutes! 😮 I was actually on the plane when he messaged me. I sent him a picture of the malfunctioning snap and he resolved the issue monetarily right away! 😮 Just amazing! I cannot say enough about this company’s customer service and their willingness to stand behind their products. (I definitely let him know that you were the one who shared his company on RUclips, which convinced me to purchase the bag. 😁) I love the bag and the company is awesome! ❤
I agree, their customer support is awesome! When I sent them an email asking when their suitcase was going to be available, I received a response just 10 minutes later. The owner even sent me a text as soon as the bags became available for purchase. You don’t get that kind of customer service anymore. I own the previous version of this bag, can’t wait to get my new bag…it looks so much more stylish, elegant. I love the upgrades, thank you Lauren for a wonderful video
Yes I totally agree with you as I have emailed the owner prior to any purchase to get some logistics worked out about his bags and then we spoke actually when I purchased my second bag about how he was going To make the sale like through Amazon this time and I agree with you that the owner is awesome.
Hi Lauren! I was a chronic over packer and by watching your channel I truly can pack a capsule wardrobe. Some of my pieces of clothing were a little bit of an investment for winter travel like a merino wool sweater but it's worth it. About a year ago I invested in a 19" spinner piece of luggage from Briggs and Riley. These airlines are getting wacky lol!
We just flew on Frontier. My daughter fit a fully packed-out, 30 liter, The North Face Women’s Recon backpack as a personal item, and it fit. We split a checked bag both ways to reduced the cost of luggage for both of us.
You literally looked like a magician, pulling your laptop, passport, phone, and wallet out of thin air at the end of the video! I was waiting for you to say, ‘Wait, there’s more!’ Can’t wait to watch the video review on Saturday!
I can’t agree more with you on the tip to look at bulk of items…I look for natural fiber clothes, especially silk, wool, and then fast drying material like nylon for travel…and I saw a great tip and have started to weigh my clothes and note the weights for helping with compact capsule wardrobe packing and for avoiding risk of an overweight charge! The new Underseat Pro roller bag looks great for travel…thanks for illustrating how to maximize packing with it!
Nice! I'll be checking out this Underseater. My tip: looks like you could slide your Undies Cube into your purse, which will help maintain its shape and possibly save a tad bit of space. I've also left my toiletries bag unzipped and laying flat, rather than closed. It's all a game of Tetris! ☺
Lauren is gorgeous best hair eyes skin and flaunts her curves and is inspiring to all of us women who want to be polished but travel on a budget unapologetically!
I totally could!!! I have the underseater pro and have learned how to downsize so much! I use 1 carry on for me and 2 kids currently but for me this would be no problem! I look forward to doing it in the near future!
Thanks to your tips/strategies for packing a carry on and personal bag only worked! I just returned from a 7 day trip to Italy and honestly when utilizing your capsule wardrobe tips I packed enough clothes to last me. Actually, I never wore a blazer, 2 tshirts 2 tops and a dress. I was amazed. However, the underseat pro bag you recommended didn't fare too well. This was the one and only time I used it and on the return home I noticed where the lining on the outside zipper compartment was ripping. Sadly, I feel as though I wasted my money. Anyway, I love your content!
I am pleased to say that after outreaching to Underpro regarding the issue I had with the personal bag their customer service worked promptly and refunded the cost I paid. I am definitely considering getting the updated version of this bag as the issue I had may have been a fluke.
I love the addition of the shoulder strap! My favorite tip is packing a capsule wardrobe, and also using packing cubes, I've always used them, I used the clear bags bedsheets and blankets came in before packing cubes were available. I always loved how they kept my clothes separated, compact and tidy in my travel bag.
Love this Lauren! Been flying Breeze a lot because it is allowing me to get away a lot more often lately. Personal item only so this is great. Can't wait try my Underseat Pro backpack for the first time.
I always amazed what you get in a carry-on or personal item. Why can’t I manage that?🤣 I would love to see an olive green, maybe a terracotta or warm brown color. I’m into the earthy tones.
Look at you almost to 10,000 subs, you go girl. I love your tough love approach. Do I always follow or agree with it? No, but I do love it. And, wow, even going minimal you got tons in that bag.
I just did a 2 week trip to Europe with a carry on only! Capsule wardrobe for the win! I never repeated an outfit and could have done another 2 weeks, without repeating!
You did Amazing! The capsule idea is Brilliant. I'm flying Frontier for the 2nd time and love coming across good tips like this. I'm definitely going to be picking up some of those travel cubes. 🥰💞💐👍🏻
I tried, I really tried packing carryon. Our holidays are mostly 14 days trip. I am getting better! I went to from a 30 inch down to a 26 inch and now I mostly travel with a 24 inch. I was trying to do a Japan trip with a 22 inch but I decided last minute to add a few items when I doubled check the itinerary and had to take out my 24 inch. 😢. I really admire people who can pack carryon! 👏🥳
When I’m space-constrained, I usually take one pair of excellent quality shoes (the ones I’m wearing on the plane). I also take a couple pair of gel insoles and switch them out every day.
I just got back from two weeks in Japan with only one pair of shoes, which were heavy leather hiking type sandals from Finn Comfort. Walked 8+ miles per day, no blisters and generally happy feet. Totally doable
been forever since flying Spirit/ Frontier cause of their nightmare customer service, lines, fees and cancellations but MAYBE forced to try this winter 🥺😬. Thank you for letting me know my sling purse count into bag! Will upgrade to your TT cube links since I gifted mine to my son. I don't have pre check/ global entry yet, so can't wait to see your Sat updated review as I've been shopping for an underseat 16" mini that checks all my boxes, all I've seen is expensive waterproof RFID aluminum Aleon which has a heftier price tag than the on sale Calpak Luka 16" which rolls and still has water bottle, phone, passport exterior pockets so i dont have to open my bag at all when im taking off my jacket shoes, and holding out my liquids and electronics bag. ( I normally have them in a packable tote out in line ready to put on bin that I lock back in luggage from converter belt later so I don't have to ruffle thru bag)
Great video! Looks like a great bag! I’m flying Frontier to Mexico next week only using the original TakeOff luggage. Using the wardrobe capsule which always works out well for me. Let’s hope they don’t try to charge us at the gate🤞🏻. I’m gonna video record the sizer before gate and once we are at gate because I’ve heard the sizer is different at gate 😤.
What a great little bag & it fits a lot. Been seeing a lot of adds etc for a fold up bag The Foldie that people recommend but it’s expensive for what it is.
Love this video!! I don’t carry toiletries any more as I know I can get whatever I need at my destination. I take a toothbrush a comb and moisturising face wipes. So much less stuff once those toiletries are eliminated .
I'm a sweaty, smelly person, so i cant wear shirts more than once, especially if im traveling in warmer climates. I still managed almost two weeks through France and Germany in a personal item by bringing detergent! A small container of liquid detergent in the bathroom sink, hang to dry over night, and voila! My clothes are fresh for a second wear without being on the brink of offensive to a nose.
Hey Lauren, I will avoid mentioning specific items since I may have appeared to be a marketing bot or RUclips just disappeared my original comment randomly. Anyway, a good tip is to use a travel focused "closet organizer" instead of packing cubes. The travel focused closet organizers have compression straps and a self contained case. You basically hang it in your closet, put what you need on the "shelves", and then pack it down with the straps and the case. I have the original version of the bag featured in this video and use it that way. You give up a little space, but it is so nice being able to pull one thing out of your bag and hang it in the closet at the hotel.
Even when I travel with a personal and carry on I make sure whatever’s in the carry on can fit in my personal. So when I head back home I can use the carry on for all the goodies I buy lol
The backpack advantage: Once you get into packing small and light with the intention of placing the bag under the seat, the added weight and space-robbing complications of wheels and handles just means less space for your stuff. A small backpack is better and you can move around quickly and quietly, and keep both hands free. Wheeled luggage is best reserved for larger, heavier baggage.
I agree that backpacks take up less space but there are a lot of people that are fans of this channel that can’t handle the weight and prefer wheels. Either way, the video teaches people how to pack personal item only, regardless of the bag choice :)
ty, as always, for your informative video! Out of curiosity, what are the dimensions of the "medium size" packing cube that held all those clothes? TIA
I would love a video discussing tips or showing hacks for packing when you're going on a very specialized kind of vacation. This seems great for a trip where you might not be doing a ton of walking around and are mainly hanging out by the pool and going out for nice dinners. I have a 4 day trip coming up to northern california where we plan to do a lot of different activities - hiking in redwood forest, walking on the beach, going out for drinks, walking around the city.. I'm trying to fit everything in a personal item but I don't know how I could stick to one pair of shoes that fits all those activities.
Honestly with that type of trip, a carry on is likely your best bet, unless your second pair of shoes is a very flat pair that takes up zero space. I have a ton of packing videos on this channel, but for personal item only, you have to be pretty extreme with your packing
I know many of us, myself included, would love to see a compare to the Nomad Lane Bento bag as they are both personal item size and people might be trying to decide which would best fit their needs for a personal item bag. I just took everything in my Underseat pro and tried to pack in my Nomad Lane Bento Bag to compare. I was surprised that the Bento bag fit almost everything (items posted in another comment here) except I was going to have to fold or roll my formal dress to fit. There are a few main differences I see. The Bento Bag tends to over stuff too deep but it's height and length dimensions are smaller. This makes it the perfect bag for United that has smaller requirements but allows for greater depth. I have personally had trouble actually fitting it under the seat on American due to overstuffing it too deep. So airline allowed dimensions make a huge difference in which is better. I love love my Bento bag for a personal item to add to a carry on because then you can use the luggage pass through and wheel the whole thing. If you are going personal item only, though, that means you have to carry the Bento Bag and it gets heavy real fast. For that reason, I'd pick underseat pro for personal item only. I'd pick my Bento Bag for in combo with a carry on because I love all the accessible pockets and it just makes it better to get your stuff in flight.
I try to compare items that are similar in size and uses. Like you said, the underseat pro is a good “personal item only” bag, and the nomad lane is good in addition to a carry on. To me, they aren’t in the same tier of personal items, due to the size and the wheels, and in my opinion, not really competition. I show the bento vs other small weekenders and the underseat pro against other wheeled underseat bags usually. If the nomad lane had wheels, then yes!
Do you know if frontier/spirit will allow for my blanket in addition to a personal item? I have a blanket that I’ve taken on every flight (including allegiant another budget airline) & never had an issue but I worry with spirt & frontier since I haven’t flown with either yet
I prefer a backpack with same size cuz it’s more comfortable. Also, it’s better if u can add a video of putting the bag in the frontier or spirit sizer at the airport
thank you for the links to packing cubes sets!! I need new ones and there's so many between Osprey and Eagle Creek ugh! Can you redo a comparison video of your HEYS nylon versus the Tripped Travel and a Thule cube please I see them on Amazon and wonder which are most wrinkle free, lightweight when filled, waterproof and durable? Happy to use your discount links to support your channel Lauren thank you!!
Recommendations for Canadian/EU compliant personal items? Air Canada (13x6x17inches, 33x16x43cm), WestJet (16x6x13 inches, 41x15x33 cm), KLM (40x30x15 cm). The "personal" item for Spirit/Frontier is closer to Canadian/EU carryon size!
I have quite a few backpack reviews coming soon that are compliant with international airlines. 3 from Roam and 1 from Nomad Lane. Ive always just used any backpack (not carry on size) and have been fine!
Do you have a video where you review different brands of packing cubes? I’m conflicted between Away, Monos, and July atm. They’re also waaaaaaay overpriced! Opinions on this? Thanks!
I bought an Underseat Pro after watching your videos and I have it packed for a short business trip. I'm flying American Airlines, but the last time I took this flight, the small regional overhead bins were full halfway through boarding, and I really don't want to have to gate check my bag. I'm happy to say that I was able to pack everything I wanted thanks to your tips! I'd love to know what size of the linked packing cubes is your medium. 15" x 11" x 4.5"? Maybe 13” x 9” x 4.5”? Here's what I packed for my business trip to hopefully help others trying to get an idea for what this bag can hold: 16.5 inch laptop (with the bezel, measures closer to a 17) with a very large power brick cord; Aer 12"x10"4" packing cube with t-shirt and sweat pants, 1 short sleeved blouse, 1 long sleeved shirt, 1 pair of pants, 4 pairs of underwear; a formal cocktail dress outside the packing cube; Aer toiletry bag (travel kit 2) with make-up, hair brush, comb, head band, tooth brush, razor, deodorant, medicine; included liquids bag with foundation, concealer, toothpaste, lipgloss, mascara; a curling iron; noise cancelling over the ear headphones; lots of chargers; and a kindle. I'm contemplating trying to fit an extra pair of flats in there. I think it might be possible. I don't know if I could do this bag for a week, but I'd love to try sometime! I feel like my clothes never pack down like yours do. Still working on figuring out that technique. I'd love seeing more videos of how you pack your packing cube like you do in this one. It's pretty helpful.
My spirit flight was changed so as I'm waiting on hold I'm reading the Contract of Carriage. Per the website you can bring things like a camera, food for consumption, outer garments, reading material, and umbrella, plus baby items and medical assistive devices, which don't count towards the carry-on allowance. Have you tried a 2nd free bag with a book, coat, umbrella, and snacks??!!
I’m pretty sure a lot of those things, except for the medical device, count as a personal item. I have personally seen spirit gate agents make children throw away a baby doll or a toy because it did not fit into a bag. So I doubt that umbrellas or reading materials or snacks would count. They actually say at the gate but if you bought any snacks at the airport, that they have to fit into your bag, and you cannot carry them on separately. Yet oddly enough, I see people with neck pillows!
In 1995 we went on our Honeymoon to San Diego. My mother and stepfather had a timeshare there back then. We stayed the first week there by ourselves and they met us there in a second week. When they pulled up, I went out to the car to help them bring their stuff in. I brought my mother’s suitcases in and went back out to get my stepfather’s stuff. I asked him where his suitcase was and he held up a small plastic bag and said right here. It contained one T-shirt and one pair of underwear and a pair of shorts. He said that he could wear those if his other clothes got dirty while they were being washed. That was his entire wardrobe for a week and they drove there. He didn’t really fly much, but I don’t think the pay extra for carry-on rule would have bothered him too much.
Lauren, Thanks for the great videos to help us prepare for our first international trip. What is your favorite under seat travel bag 40x20x25cm for international travel? Ryan air friendly. Something reasonably priced. Thanks.
Any international flight, especially Ryan air, I just do a small backpack. Even if the dimensions are a tiny bit off, if it’s on your back, You will be okay.
I just went through Louis Armstrong airport on Christmas Eve. I had on a tee shirt with a hoodie . I had to pull up my hoodie and they patted me down. I was going to put a waist bag on under my shirt and i’m glad I didn’t. We even had to take our shoes off.
Great video Lauren !!!! Would the bento bag by nomad lane pack similar to this one ? As from what I saw it qualifies as a personal item ? Thank you for the great videos xx
I know that I’m an overpacker. I’m trying to pack better. However, I can’t imagine only packing one bra. I love the idea of a capsule wardrobe, but what happens after you wear all of your pants? Do you just wear them again? Are you doing laundry while on vacation?
I have a merino wool bra that I wear and you can re-wear it, or I’ll pack a second. My rule is always 1 cube for clothes and 1 for undergarments/swimwear. I pick clothes that I will rewear, and that I often rewear, even at home. I will rewear most pants and sweaters a few times until they lose their shape. Alternatively, quick dry items if I need to wash. I’ve never been gone more than 2.5 weeks, but if you are, there’s time for laundry. (In my opinion)
I would like to see that bag actually fit under the seat on a value carrier like Sun Country because their seats except for the window are not full with, the have a bar on the aisle and something on the floor in the middle
I personally think it’s ridiculous. I’ve watched dozens of videos closely and they can never fit more than 12 things in there, and if they do, it takes up the entire suitcase, not just the side with the “closet”. I’ve also heard that it topples over. I’d love to review it, but I’d have to buy it, since it would likely be negative.
FYI, your link in description for the underseat luggage goes to an Amazon link with the item unavailable (it's probably the discontinued one), so if you're getting commission, hopefully you'll see this and update it.
I used a duffel bag on Allegiant and the compression bags saved me. next time, I will get the ones you don't need a vacuum but you can roll out air. I used a sm. mesh laundry bag for underwear so when I need to do laundry I put everything in there and don't lose my undies. 🙂
Spirits contract of carriage 7.2-7.2.5 exempts the following items from your personal item allowance, CPAP devices and carrying bag, one small bag of photographic equipment not to exceed 9 inches by 6 inches by 7 inches, one duty free box or bag, food for consumption on board the flight, and a reasonable amount of reading material for the flight. I take a personal item, a CPAP bag, a photographic equipment bag, and a duty free bag I got years ago, it doesn't specify when you got the duty free bag. Print out the contract of carriage and be prepared to school the gate agents if you want to fly this way.
I saw someone on instagram who bought 10mL vacuum pump bottles on Amazon to pack her skincare and makeup. 10mL is enough for a week trip for most things (a full bottle of foundation is only 30ml) and they’re like the size of a chapstick.
I am a photographer so when I pack carry on only, I normally have my July carry on and my backpack as my electronics bag. What do you use to film on and take pictures while you travel in just the personal item? Even one camera and one lens would take up a bit of space.
Most of my trips these days have been iPhone only, to be honest. If I have to film for RUclips on the trip, I just have a small Sony zv1, so it doesn’t have any extra lenses. If I needed to pack personal item only and bring a big camera and lenses and batteries, hopefully it would be a short trip where I only need 1-2 shirts and 1-2 pairs of underwear and no toiletries. (In addition to the plane outfit)
Can't seem to find your 'shoes' video ! When travelling, footwear is such a headache... I have yet to find suitable footwear that covers daytime walking and going out also?
OH NO... Amazon says it's unavailable :( But Thank you anyway! This bag is perfect for me because I'm looking for a personal item that I can carry but also wheel if needed. I have a backpack I use as my carry-on. Hope it gets restocked soon, I'm heading to Italy this Sept!
Came across your videos about this bag doing research for my own travel needs. Seems it is not available at this time. Do you know if it will be again? I know you said it was a small business so not sure if they go through periods where they have product to sell and some where they are not currently selling.
I thought I had this same underseat pro but my laptop sleeve was on the outside of the bag but havent packed one yet but mine seems tight...and it seemed like you had yours inside of the bag and it looks a little different but I'm not sure. So do they have a version 2 of this bag? i think you mentioned that.
sadly this bag is too big for popular EU budget airlines like Ryanair and Wizzair. They are 40x25x20cm. However, i usually buy from a little shop in the airport and use that bag to sneak on a couple extra things, plus i usually have my camera and bulkiest lens around my neck, and maybe even a larger powerbank in my pocket. It's a bit of faff, especially if its hot inside and you're wearing layers for a winter trip to save on space running through an airport to make your flight - but it saves a fair bit when you add a few trips a year up!
How would you rate the under-seat pro bag vs take off hard case? You evaluated both i believe.....i would be interested in the actual interior measurements or volume of each for comparison as both have the same exterior dimensions . Thanks
I did a comparison video here. Neither company really gives their capacity, but I go over every detail of comparison, and it really comes down to your preference. For example, I prefer spinner wheels and hard shell, but I like the outer pockets on underseat pro, if it’s the only bag I’m bringing and I need a laptop spot. Only bringing 5 top and 4 bottoms and only bringing 1 extra pair shoes
@@plramirez2449 try mini carbines on zippers. S shaped. Easy to open and close but not easy enough to get into stealthily.
Thanks for the tips, hacks and reminders. Something I learned is that if you wear your fanny pack around your waist, it is considered a personal attire, NOT a personal item. If you wear it around your shoulder (like many do so lately... more fashionable way) it's considered a personal item.
Oh interesting. But I know spirit will scream at you to condense it into your other bag. But I just hide it :)
@@ItsTheKellys Yep. Spirit doesn't play, haha!
@@ItsTheKellys Got you! He could live out a personal item! Thank you for your quick response. Have a good weekend
I have a takeoff luggage review on my channel and I can easily pack a weeks worth of stuff. I use1 side for 3 days of clothes
A guy on the news got caught carrying a pillowcase stuffed with clothing trying to pretend it was a pillow besides his small bag.
I actually had a gate agent in Australia tell me to put stuff down my pants and in my pockets when my bag was overweight 😂😂
And yes, the modifications are great! They were made mainly because frontier is crazy!
@@ItsTheKellyshah..as an Australian..I can well imagine that …
Lauren, thank you so much for previously recommending Underseat Pro!
That’s so great to hear! That’s why I’m always so proud to show their products!
Thank you! I’m so glad to hear you had a good experience 💕
Awesome! Which bag is it?! So proud!
We just flew on Frontier. My daughter fit a fully packed-out, 30 liter, The North Face Women’s Recon backpack as a personal item, and it fit. We split a checked bag both ways to reduced the cost of luggage for both of us.
That’s great :)
You literally looked like a magician, pulling your laptop, passport, phone, and wallet out of thin air at the end of the video! I was waiting for you to say, ‘Wait, there’s more!’ Can’t wait to watch the video review on Saturday!
Thanks haha! If you’re on our email list you can see it Friday instead!
@@ItsTheKellys got to watch the video! I love the upgraded version of the suitcase, very elegant and timeless 😍
Yes, lightweight and not bulky! I’m currently shopping for the perfect packable raincoat for my next trip!
Nice! I'll be checking out this Underseater. My tip: looks like you could slide your Undies Cube into your purse, which will help maintain its shape and possibly save a tad bit of space. I've also left my toiletries bag unzipped and laying flat, rather than closed. It's all a game of Tetris! ☺
I could, but I usually pull my purse out as soon as I get to my location, and keep those items separate when I unpack on the trip :)
Lauren, you should make a video about your 10-step skincare routine; it works! You have porcelain skin; it looks flawless!
Maybe I’ll pack it all in my contact cases on my next trip and do it! Thank you! You made my day!
Lauren is gorgeous best hair eyes skin and flaunts her curves and is inspiring to all of us women who want to be polished but travel on a budget unapologetically!
@@ItsTheKellys no, thank you Lauren!
You're such a joy to watch Lauren! I loved the flow of this video! Also love the new space, so relaxing! 😍 Take care!
Thank you so much 🥰
LOL!! I've been getting ripped off by frontier. No more. As I a guy, I can carry even less. Thanks for the video.
Wow ! You're so good ! Funny ,too ! I loved that you said " For you...,I'll put an extra pr of shoes !" Lol.👍👍👏👏💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️💞
Just did 12 days in Europe and wore the only shoes I needed. Totally agree
I love hearing this! I’m about to do the same next week in Europe!
I totally could!!! I have the underseater pro and have learned how to downsize so much! I use 1 carry on for me and 2 kids currently but for me this would be no problem! I look forward to doing it in the near future!
Yay!
That’s great to hear about your trip! For the underseat pro, I would reach out to them… the customer service is top notch!
I am pleased to say that after outreaching to Underpro regarding the issue I had with the personal bag their customer service worked promptly and refunded the cost I paid. I am definitely considering getting the updated version of this bag as the issue I had may have been a fluke.
Watching your videos is an utter delight!
Aw thank you
Just watched the video comparison, I am digging the new upgrades!
The new bag is amazing! Being able to bring a larger computer is wonderful.
This is my first video of yours that I watch and I think you are so fun to watch and sensible at the same time! Great, concise, priceless advice! 😊
Thank you so much!
You can’t pack everything is a great tip. I have the UnderSeat Pro Travel Backpack. I haven’t used it yet. Only road trips not on the plane.
Love this Lauren! Been flying Breeze a lot because it is allowing me to get away a lot more often lately. Personal item only so this is great. Can't wait try my Underseat Pro backpack for the first time.
So good to hear! I haven’t flown them yet but I’ve thought about it quite a few times!
Thanks! I wanted to tell you that I signed up to get my open water certification! Doing it in January in the Maldives :)
Glad to help and thank you for watching!
I’d love this personal item when traveling inter-island. Black is the one I’d choose just because things get dirty.
I love these videos 🤙🏼
Yes!!! So well done!! Great looking bag!!!
Thanks so much!!
We will have an intervention some day! But I’m proud of you for coming that far!!
When I’m space-constrained, I usually take one pair of excellent quality shoes (the ones I’m wearing on the plane). I also take a couple pair of gel insoles and switch them out every day.
I will definitely pack those if I have a walk heavy trip, like my 30,000 steps a day in Paris!
I just got back from two weeks in Japan with only one pair of shoes, which were heavy leather hiking type sandals from Finn Comfort. Walked 8+ miles per day, no blisters and generally happy feet. Totally doable
Yesss!
New subscriber here! Love your videos, that’s a beautiful suitcase! Thanks for the recommendation
Thank you! 🙏🏽🥰
How fabulous! That was very inspiring!
Thank you!
been forever since flying Spirit/ Frontier cause of their nightmare customer service, lines, fees and cancellations but MAYBE forced to try this winter 🥺😬.
I’ve been wanting to measure them at the gate! I will next time if you don’t! Good luck
What a great little bag & it fits a lot. Been seeing a lot of adds etc for a fold up bag The Foldie that people recommend but it’s expensive for what it is.
Yes I have a few Amazon versions of it that are cheaper
Love this video!! I don’t carry toiletries any more as I know I can get whatever I need at my destination. I take a toothbrush a comb and moisturising face wipes. So much less stuff once those toiletries are eliminated
.
Thank you!! I am flying Frontier next month.
Have a great trip!
I have done the stuffed neck pillow thing. Works great.
Great to know!
I'm trying laundry detergent sheets on my nxt trip
I have used laundry sheets. Wonderful to tear a piece for in sink , every day laundry!
I’ve actually reviewed that and how much I don’t like it 🙈 but I’m glad it works for you!
@@ItsTheKellys That was a fun video to watch. Who knew packing was cardio 🤣
Love this! So on point. Thanks for great reminders. Travel lite. Pack lite. Minimal skincare items are a must. 😊
You are so welcome! 🥰
I’d like to see it come in blue! 💙
Aww You’re so cute, good personality. I’m flying first time Spirit. This was so informative and helpful. Thanks!
Even when I travel with a personal and carry on I make sure whatever’s in the carry on can fit in my personal. So when I head back home I can use the carry on for all the goodies I buy lol
I love to shop on vacation too!
I love Sanuk Sandals (yoga slings) for flat yet comfortable sandals. I can walk in for miles.
I used to have those! Now I wonder where they disappeared to! My favorites are my crocs swift waters!
TIA
Hi Lauren. Love your videos. This bag would be awesome in navy blue 😊
Yea. You will love it.
Great video Lauren ! How about trying that vest with the billion pockets . I think it's called Scotty vest. I am going to check it out
I had a friend tell me about it, i just don’t know how much I would ever wear a vest, let alone one filled with stuff.
Love it! You are set!
Do you know if frontier/spirit will allow for my blanket in addition to a personal item? I have a blanket that I’ve taken on every flight (including allegiant another budget airline) & never had an issue but I worry with spirt & frontier since I haven’t flown with either yet
I’ve seen everything. I saw them take a babydoll away from a child earlier this year, but I’ve seen people load with huge bags of airport souvenirs.
I prefer a backpack with same size cuz it’s more comfortable. Also, it’s better if u can add a video of putting the bag in the frontier or spirit sizer at the airport
I have put this bag in the sizers in my several other videos of it :)
Thank you for the advice! I totally understood what you’re saying! I needed this advice! ❤
You are so welcome!
thank you for the links to packing cubes sets!!
Heys 100% they are super light weight. They weigh next to nothing. I don’t do any compression unless it’s the double cube from tripped.
Picked up somewhere that a packing cube can double as a pillow for window seats.
As long as it’s not a compression cube or fully fully packed! I’ve done a packable jacket as one before too :)
@@ItsTheKellys That Nomad Lane pack looks interesting. I'd also love your opinion on the Osprey 26+6! Love your content! :)
@2009bubbaray I’m not sure if I’ll get into the Osprey stuff, but maybe I can look at it next time I’m at REI.
Which under seat bag with wheels do you recommend? Thanks 🌹
This one featured, or Take Off luggage. It just depends on if you want hard or soft, and 2 wheels or 4. But those will hold the most!
Amazon has a number of personal item bags for $20-$30 that are similar in size to the Bento bag which costs about $400

It's pretty helpful.
that was such a great packing tutorial! thank you!
You're welcome! Hope it helps if you're packing personal item only soon!
LOL I'm watching this and it just so happens that Friends episode with Joey is on right now.
It’s a classic! Haha
Yet oddly enough, I see people
with neck pillows!
OK, I really need to take a trip and pack like you!!
You should!
Great video! Can you do a video about using a rolling duffel as a carry on (like the Vera Bradley rolling duffel)?
I don’t own one, but one day if I do, or a company sends one, I will. It’s even easier though! More room
Love it! But there is no Underseat Pro foldable laptop anywhere to be found!
They revamped it and it will be back in a few weeks. I just got a sneak peek yesterday!

Hi Lauren, how much did this bag weigh (packed), please?
I just went through Louis Armstrong airport on Christmas Eve. I had on a tee shirt with a hoodie . I had to pull up my hoodie and they patted me down. I was going to put a waist bag on under my shirt and i’m glad I didn’t. We even had to take our shoes off.
For TSA security or for boarding the plane? For TSA, That’s normal. But if it’s for boarding the plane, I’d really like to know which airline.
Great video Lauren !!!! Would the bento bag by nomad lane pack similar to this one ? As from what I saw it qualifies as a personal item ? Thank you for the great videos xx
Yes, it just holds a little less!
The strap is helpful for navigating up the stairs to your 3rd floor European hotel or Air BNB room
This is such a helpful video. Btw, do you have a link for the purse?
So glad it was helpful! Here you go! amzn.to/3OVjZQG

We are packing personal item only, do you like this over the backpack, and do they both hold the same amount?
I’m sure it can hold the same amount! It just depends on your preference through the airport!
That sounds like nothing would fit under there!
Hi! I have been binging your channel over the past couple of days. LOVE. What are your thoughts on Sologaard? Would love a review on that from you.
Thank you. The company is currently out of stock
I used a duffel bag on Allegiant and the compression bags saved me. next time, I will get the ones you don't need a vacuum but you can roll out air. I used a sm. mesh laundry bag for underwear so when I need to do laundry I put everything in there and don't lose my undies. 🙂
This is exactly what I was looking for
Spirits contract of carriage 7.2-7.2.5 exempts the following items from your personal item allowance, CPAP devices and carrying bag, one small bag of photographic equipment not to exceed 9 inches by 6
inches by 7 inches, one duty free box or bag, food for consumption on board the flight, and a reasonable amount of reading material for the flight. I take a personal item, a CPAP bag, a photographic equipment bag, and a duty free bag I got years ago, it doesn't specify when you got the duty free bag. Print out the contract of carriage and be prepared to school the gate agents if you want to fly this way.
Good to know! Especially because I travel with photographic equipment!
I saw someone on instagram who bought 10mL vacuum pump bottles on Amazon to pack her skincare and makeup. 10mL is enough for a week trip for most things (a full bottle of foundation is only 30ml) and they’re like the size of a chapstick.
I got some 10ml ones but they are the same size as my foundation! I really want some smaller ones!
The site won't come up on small packing cube and toiletries bad. Are both the med and small packing cubes from heyes thank you
I am a photographer so when I pack carry on only, I normally have my July carry on and my backpack as my electronics bag.
I noticed on Allegiant Airlines that they have strict weight limits on the carry one, but no weight limits on your personal item.
Yes no one usually weighs a personal item :)
@@ItsTheKellys So, put all your really heavy stuff in the personal item and DON’T look like you are struggling.
I’ll be reaching out to them today to get the scoop! They always sell out when I do a video. Hopefully soon!
@@ItsTheKellys thank you so much for the quick response.
Great tips! Do you have a promo code for the underseat luggage?
Thank you! They are just on Amazon, there’s no code :)
Yes, it just came out. My review for it comes out Saturday!
sadly this bag is too big for popular EU budget airlines like Ryanair and Wizzair.
Yes it’s meant as a small carry on or a personal item in the US, where they allow bigger personal items
I would love to see it in purple
How would you rate the under-seat pro bag vs take off hard case? You evaluated both i believe.....i would be interested in the actual interior measurements or volume of each for comparison as both have the same exterior dimensions . Thanks
I did a comparison video here. Neither company really gives their capacity, but I go over every detail of comparison, and it really comes down to your preference. For example, I prefer spinner wheels and hard shell, but I like the outer pockets on underseat pro, if it’s the only bag I’m bringing and I need a laptop spot.
