Thank you so very much!
Can you bring a20 inch carry on and a backpack as your personal item, health equipment cpap does not count as carry on
Hi, on most airlines you can get a carry-on and personal item. Is that what you are asking?@@konstanceepstein9714
I packed for 7 days in an underseat bag 2 years ago. I packed 3 changes of clothes and washed half thru the trip. Granted It was a mountain hiking trip so no fancy clothes needed. As a larger lady I have larger clothes so thats also a consideration when packing. I love my under seat bag.
You are the BEST! I’m an 80-year-old lady, always a minimalist packet, and still I have learned from you!
I'm so glad! 80 is great-y!
im over 80 also and travel with a scooter so. my under seat bag also holds my scooter charger so happy to travel and love your tips Laurie
Lay out your clothing you intend to take, and at this stage you can have all your options laid out, and then select your capsule wardrobe. This has helped me. I generally take twice as many tops as I do bottoms. But I could get by with fewer bottoms, like 3/1. And remember that just because you are allowed 3.4oz, doesn't mean you have to take 3.4 oz! I've found containers that hold as little as .5oz and for some liquids, that's all I need!. I found out that 3.4 oz of shampoo and 3.4 oz of conditioner will last me 2 months - mind blown!
Yes, that swap out is what I was talking about. Such good tips!
I have used my daughter's old lunch bag that attaches to backpacks as my toiletry bag. It isn't so weird to see an adult with a kid walking through an airport with a mini mouse bag haha. But lunch bags can be cheaper than toiletry bags and they attach well, They also have that lining so if something spills it doesn't leak through as easily
Such a smart tip!
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie Thanks :)
Wow, you did fit a lot in that bag! I purchased the very same and found it so convenient. Fit perfectly under a Southwest window seat. I was able to pack, 2 outfits, shoes, sweater, liquids bag, kindle, iPad, small empty purse, makeup bag, electronics cords, wipes, sanitizer, medication , snacks and water bottle and the contents of my purse in the outer pocket. It holds a lot! Great tips for minimalist packing Laurie.
Well, we finally got to Finland after over 3 years of cancelling all the plans I made. Northern lights, swimming in frozen sea and walking on solid sea ice. Just lots of fun. Loved every minute of it! Flying was super and all your wonderful hacks over the years helped out a lot.
That sounds like a blast ! I would love to live vicariously through u !
We are going to Finland in July! Super excited!
I love who you are ! You don’t assume everyone is going to do exactly what you say, you are so gracious and generous that you are just sharing . I like that. Thank you 😊 ( oh, and I have just watch maybe 20 of your vids in the last 3 days . You don’t know me but you have a new family member, my name is Kelly 🌹💁♀️
Oh.. and how heavy was this wheeled bag? ( when pulling a personal and a carryon, the two can get pretty heavy to pull on those carpeted areas and cobblestones. ) Any clue of the weight of this empty?
Just received the rolling under the seat bag you recommend here. Game changer!!! OMG! Didn't think there was any way this would work for a month taking trains around Switzerland and Austria this summer. Almost put it back in the Amazon box to return. I used this little suitcase, the packing cubes you recommend that squish down, and the black and white striped backpack. I was a pro photographer but not taking my gear since I've been going on RUclips and have learned how to get that quality out of my iPhone 14 Pro. :) 8 dresses, 4 workout/hiking (leggings, tops, bras), 8 pairs of socks, toiletries, 2 sweaters, pareo to cover my shoulders and wrap around as a swimsuit coverup, swimsuit, long sleeve bamboo hoodie to layer, 1 pair sandals, 1 pair white tennis shoes to go with dresses. Clothes washing strips to do laundry. I can't believe I'm going for a whole month in these 2 little bags! Now I have to go unpack all this and get back to cleaning house. LOL Laurie, I couldn't have done this without your guidance! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! And my husband thanks you since he won't have to carry my bag along with his as we run to catch our trains. Mahalo!
Oh my word I am just shocked! I cannot believe you packed that many outfits! What shoes do you like for the dresses? My feet feel huge with white sneakers.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie LOL. I have a pair of Carrumas that are sleeker than a running shoe. I love the look of a crisp white tennis shoe on anyone with a little sundress. Taking a pair of white Clark’s sandals too. I would just do the sandals but I’ll end up with foot problems not changing out my shoes. Wearing my running shoes on the planes. 😝. I only wear sundresses even at home. I like Billabong, Quicksilver and other surf shop brands because they make little dresses that are cooler when it’s hot out. And they’re all thin so I can wash in the sink, hang to dry. Leggings are all Lululemon so they can be washed out too I’ll use the hotels’ hair dryers so not packing that. I’m taking the True Earth laundry detergent strips so I don’t have to deal with liquid. And they’re small. Using the contact case trick for my Vit A and C serums and cream deodorant. I would love to see an video on traveling with little sundresses. I couldn’t find one anywhere on RUclips when making my packing list. They take up way less space than shorts and tops. I’m 60 but still look to the 20 something’s for some of my fashion cues. Tennis shoes with sundresses are the bomb! Hard to find a more comfortable outfit. 😝.
Hi Laurie, I know this is an older video so you may not have started using the tray table covers yet (Airplane Pockets Airplane Tray Table Cover.) Would you still be able to roll one up enough to get in your bag to use? I really like that it keeps things clean as well as keeping phone and water bottles handy.
I'm good at packing light for trips but I always like to see if I can learn something new from your videos. I also put things inside of shoes to keep them safe and take advantage of that space.
Great tips, as usual, Laurie! Glad I found your channel to prepare for my international trip later this year. I’m trying out all kinds of packing ideas, bags, and learning all the tips and tricks! Thanks!
I love all of your videos! Thank you sharing great tips and all of your wonderful fashion items! ❤
Another wonderful video fUll of helpful instructions. There’s always something new to learn. Thanks Laurie!🥰
I've found that salad dressing jars for lunch boxes ( 1 oz.) are more secure than many travel containers. I pack jewelry in old prescription bottles. Keep the videos coming!
I use them to keep coconut oil in for makeup removal. Super easy to refill and very squeezable. I did find similar yet bigger containers for travel on Amazon, and they work just as well for shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc.
That's great to know! Thank you.
I always save the smaller sample jars/containers from makeup counter samples or gifts at the department store to decant liquid make up and face creams for travel. Also, for travel in countries (Europe!) where you are rarely given washcloths I take an old washcloth and cut it into 4 squares- I use them and leave behind as I travel so no wipes or cotton pads needed. It really saves space and for a 2 week or so journey it's more then enough!
Great space-saving tip!
*than
That is brilliant. We all have old wash cloths that we don’t mind tossing.
Use the dry face wash cloths (e.g.Olay) on your face and then use them as a wash cloth for your body, then discard.
I bought little cloths that are so compact they slightly bigger than a “Tums” and much smaller than a dishwasher/clothes washing pod. I throw 5 or 6 into my carry on (they’re individually packaged) and throw away after use. Amazon: disposable wash cloths
Hi Laurie! I'm a new passenger here :) I have been bingeing your videos in preparation for a solo trip from Canada to Europe with my 4-yr old in April. I'm a nervous traveler, especially alone with a toddler! Watching your videos helps me to prepare, which will hopefully lead to a calmer trip :) thank you!
Oh it’s so fun through their eyes. I have that video called Travel tips for children or kids maybe.
Oh, thank you, I will look that up! (Might be the only one I haven't watched, lol)
Laurie is amazing! Her tips are top notch! Good luck on your trip.
Very exciting. A small tip someone gave me when I flew with my toddler, bring very small wrapped new toys for them. Don’t let your child know you have them so random times through the flight they can unwrap a new toy that should keep there attention for awhile. This was a big hit for my daughter and helped tremendously. And if something like a Barbie doll we’re in a box, I took them out of box before wrapping to save room and trash later on.
Wow! You are one brave mum! Best wishes!
I am always amazed at how much my under the seat bag holds when it is packed thoughtfully. Thanks for the tips Laurie!
Use cream shadow sticks and 1 brush for blending.
Brilliant! Wasn't sure you could do it, but I should have had faith! Loved those neutral wedges that you didn't pack - just went and bought them! Hooking the liquids bag to the suitcase is another great hack!
Very useful ideas, as always, Laurie! Thanks for sharing 👍🏽
I have always marveled at those folks who pack in bags like this. Thanks for this video-it’s genius!!
Once again Laurie you've given us so much incredible info to make our travel easier and fun! Thank you so much!
You are so welcome!
I absolutely love your videos!!! They are so helpful and practical. I'm going to London and taking only personal item and under the seat carry on. I purchased the compression bags and am following your packing suggestions, not too much, just enough clothes and will coordinate with two pants, and a few tops. Will shop the second hand shops for fun and take home something! Thank you for all your awesome advise and sharing your experiences.
I'm traveling to Oregon for 8 days in May. I'm taking a carry on and a personal bag. I bought the black and white striped bag and packing cubes you recommended. I can't wait to use them!
Hi, I have been enjoying your video a lot. I have traveled with just an underseater like yours to China in summer for 2 weeks. I am a petite person and I only wear simple type of clothes. All of your ideas are great but I have some ideas that you might like. It is to bring sheet masks that are very thin, usually comes in a thin ziplock like package. Use them instead of toner, That way I don't have to put them in liquid bag, and I can just slide in the side pocket or between clothes without adding bulk. And days go by, you have more space in your bag, because they are disposable. Another tip is to wear silk materials. If you have 3 silk t shirts, all combined and role them, instead of roll them individually, you can save a lot of space in the bag. Also silk material can dress up or down. And it dries quickly when you wash them. I only use cubes for sweaters of anything puffy and really stuff them in the cube. Let me know what you think, looking forward to more videos!
Excellent!! Thank you, Laurie!!
Just the video that I was looking for!! Yay!!
I’m so glad I found someone who loves to travel and dresses like I do! Thank you for great advice and the fashion/ brand tips. My goal is not not overpack for my next overseas trip!
Hi Laurie, I'm from NYC and love your videos. Your advice is gold. 👍💕 thanks .
Thanks Laurie! Very helpful 😊
First plane trip in over 20 years for my husband and I. I’m overwhelm. You are really helping. Going for 2 weeks.
Omg best find on this luggage!!! Thank you!
Really enjoy your videos Laurie. Great job. Right to the point!
Thank you!
Love this. Perfect for our trip to Ireland. Thank you!!!
As always Laurie, great tips!!!
Your double sided glasses case just blew me away. I usually travel with 3-4 pairs of precription eye/sunglasses but they take up a ton of storage, if protected properly. You just saved me a ton of packing real estate. Just ordered via your AMZN link. Thank you!
This is Golden!! Thank you so much for all of your tips and hacks! So so helpful!!
Glad it was helpful!
Learn so much from your RUclips and Insta! Thank you for increasing my travel confidence through feeling prepared by you!
Happy to help! Good to see you on here.
Those Wit & Wisdom jeans are so comfortable and flattering too!
I’m so happy I found you! Great tips!
Laurie love all your wonderful ideas❤️
Love your advise. We seem to be doing more carry on travel lately and these are great hacks!
Thank you for this! Great info ❤
Wonderful tips, as always. Thank you!
super cute outfit suggestions - your videos are so helpful and you speak clearly and quick! I love it! thank you!
Glad you like them!
Love your channel! It’s so helpful and I always learn something from you even though I have been traveling for many, many years and pride myself on packing light. My husband and I have not checked luggage in forever, whether we travel domestic or international, and we bought this bag that you are demonstrating today a few years ago and use it exclusively for domestic travel no matter how many days we are traveling. It’s an amazing piece of luggage and I highly recommend it! It holds SO much if you pack correctly and has fit perfectly under every seat on a flight I have taken. I will use this as my personal item for an upcoming international flight as it will hold everything I need access to in flight including a small handbag and fit under the seat and my small carry on goes in the overhead. This bag easily slides over the handle of my carry on so my hands are free. Thank you for sharing your experience using it with us.
It really is big enough for packing for a trip!
Thanks for the tips you've given I'm traveling to🇨🇦in April I'm looking forward👍
Great tricks, and I’m a regular viewer! I have a bag similar to yours and will definitely try to use it soon! Thank you!
Fabulous video on minimalist packing you did with an underseat carryon. Your videos always inspire me and I’m getting ready for a month trip to UK with a carryon only. Plan to wash clothes 3 times while in UK. Feeling confident this will work. Keep inspiring all of us! Maureen from Caledon Ontario Canada
Being able to wash clothes on vacation would help so much!
hi Laurie! I have been loving your videos. We traveled so much when we were younger because we were missionaries. But it has been a while! So, now that we are traveling more again, I have been needing some updates and fresh ideas. Thank you so much for all the info. Soooo helpful.
Thanks for sharing!!
Great hacks! Thanks! It is always so stressful to travel and this is so helpful!
I hope to take the stress out!
I hope you post a video of your packing for London before you go! I really enjoy your tips!
Hi Laurie! I just discovered your channel and I’m loving your tips and your energy! I have found SO MANY great travel bags and accessories because of you. I have always considered myself a pretty decent packer but I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis so I’m trying to up my game and lighten my load to save my poor back.
This video is very close to how I pack. I call it Tetris-Ing (like the game) my bag.😂
The way I do it is to pack in layers. So you put as many of your biggest items you can in the bottom, fill the gaps on the sides with the medium, then small, then tiny until you have an even layer, then repeat until full. It won’t look as pretty and organized but you can fit a lot that way.
One tip I can add is that in the winter you can pack puffy coats last and use the suitcase as a compression bag of sorts to smush it down and really secure your items.
Oh!! And my absolute favorite hack! Wrap your necklaces in Saran Wrap for compact, no tangle storage.
Love tetris!
Hi Laurie. I have followed you for years and as a frequent overseas traveler I have used so many of your tips. However in the last year in four different trips the airlines have started weighing carry on bags and are not allowing more than 7 kg (15.42lbs). That is really hard to do if you have electronics that’s must go in carry ons. It means I have gone to a backpack only for a carry on because most small bags add too much to the weight. Any tips you may have would be really appreciated. It is meaning that I am checking a bag more often so a warning to fellow travelers that this has started happening. These have all been non US airlines and has only been a problem in the last year. The US airlines have not done this yet but I suspect it is only a matter of time. Thanks for your inspiration and for your awesome advice. I am 74 years old and still heading out regularly.
Love all the helpful tips!!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Laurie! I recently took 2 trips with only my under seat bag (the Lovevook bag you recommended). Both trips were for 5 days! It can be done when you plan coordinating outfits. I found putting my Liquids bag on the very top made going through security a snap! And it's great to skip the check in lines! Love your videos!
Keep em coming! 😀
Good for you! Great job in doing this!
Love this video! I pack minimally as well, so I love to see what others bring. There's so much knowledge to share - we can all help each other.
I have 1 oz and smaller bottles. I bring enough shampoo to wash my hair twice a week, a sliver of solid soap, a tiny tube of toothpaste, and cut my floss into the number of days I need - I put them into a tiny little ziploc bag. It gets easier to minimize once you've changed your mindset.
I'm going to the Grand Canyon this summer, and it will be a different kind of trip to pack for. Planning (and watching your videos) is part of the fun!
😅
I’m going to London this summer and I’m loving your travel tips!! Thank you so much
Have fun!
I just love your videos!
You are literally the best! I am a seasoned travel but I just love to watch your videos and I have learned a bunch! I am off to Tulum tomorrow!
Eeeek so fun! Enjoy and be safe
Thank you for sharing
Yay!!! I have been hoping you would do this!!! Is it possible for you to let us know in future videos what the bag weighs -empty and later “full😁” This is very needed info in some countries…
Laurie, been watching your channel for months now. Just wanted to say thank you for all of your insightful tips and tricks. I'm also from Houston with many friends in the industry but you're by far my fav.
Thank you so much! Enjoy this weekend weather! It’s still patio weather!
@Travel Tips by Laurie Spent the weekend in CZM with a retired United bud who has a dive ship down there. Weather was great!
Brilliant ! Thank you for this video. This is the only way I travel now and it was great to see you get all the compression bags in that under seater ~ I will never go larger again and look forward to the challenge. BTW, we "fly" out in the morning (Streaming ! )
Thank you for all of the tips. Every time I watch one, I find something else that I want to get for my trip to Switzerland. Now to figure out clothes for the 1st week in May.
Ooh yes! I do have a video called Pack for Winter trip in one carry on bag.
So helpful and so much new information to me!
Glad it was helpful!
I have gone for 4 days in this smaller bad, great job in making it go for 8!! I just received my TSA pre-approval, so happy.
Hi there! I have been watching your videos in preparation for a trip to Japan with my daughters. Thanks for all the helpful tips! :)
Have fun! Hope it’s wonderful.
Wow! Thanks so much for a great video!🎉
I hope it helps you pack!
Everytime i watch your videos i want to travel!!
Hi Laurie! I am a new commercial pilot's wife. He's retired Air Force, so while I'm not new to the flying world, I am to the non rev world. I love your videos and am using them to get up to back up to speed on traveling light. Thank you for all of your helpful information and links to products. We are very excited about this new chapter in our lives! -Laurie
Hi! Enjoy the ride-all the highs and lows!
Thank you and your husband for your service! Our youngest of 3 sons is a 29 yo tech sgt. And is going on yr 11. It’s hard trying to get together for family vacations and holidays so I know what toll it takes on a family, plus all the moves, not including deployments or tdy’s. Enjoy your new civy life!
I've recently discovered your channel, it's so helpful! I'm planning a 2 month Europe trip with one backpack only (8kgs is the max for the airlines I'll be flying), so all of these tips and tricks are useful! The other tip I've heard recently is to actually weigh each of the items you're planning on taking, I was so surprised at how much some of the items I'd planned to take weigh, they'll be swapped out for something else!
Great ideas!!
Love that Lifestride wedge sandals. I ended up ordering one at DSW. It just came in for store pickup and I can’t wait to see how it fits on me! Thanks for sharing your link
It was stretchier than the Kelly and Kate version with no knot.
Returned from Mexico last week and realized we need something like this for our next trip. Thanks for the great review, I think we are sold on this one!
Ohh, Laurie! A frequent river cruiser here. On our last one our nightstand was completely flat, and all my stuff would roll off! I have been looking for a foldable basket or tray….and surprise! Here it is! Thanks so much! Love your videos, they are so uplifting!
Yay!
Hi Laurie , I swear you are an angel that’s looking out for me on this up coming trip. Thank you. 😘♥️
Ha don’t ask my mom!
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie 😎🙃🤣
My husband and I both have one of these under seat small suitcase and love to travel with only carry on bags. This bag fulfills our needs!!
Thanks for sharing!
Subscribed to your channel about 4 months ago, as we we’re planning a 15 day Europe trip. We used your tips and packed with carryon and personal bag. It was the greatest. On the next to the last lag of trip, we decided to check our carryon for several reasons. Although my husband’s bag and my daughter’s made it, my bag was lost. I am so thankful I had watched your videos, so I had almost everything I needed for 3 days in my personal item bag. It took all the stress out. The airline found my bag before we left Italy, so that was good. Thanks for your tips; saved my trip to Rome.
Oh wow yay! Whew! Italy!!! Was it beautiful and delicious?
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie It was my first time to Rome (Italy), and I loved all the history. Didn’t expect the crowds. And yes I ate my way across Rome. So good.
I have that bag! Love it!
Hello from California! I thoroughly enjoy your videos and learning from you. I’m traveling to Europe for the 1st time since the pandemic in carry on only for two weeks thanks to your tips and tricks! I thoroughly enjoy your videos and look forward to them! Cheers!
Same for me, Miranda! Europe for two weeks and 4 days, carry on only!
Best of luck! Cheerio! So happy for you.
Very helpful. Keep it up, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Laurie, this is a great video. Your capsule is wonderful!
Thank you!
Beautiful, Sis!🥰
Laurie, I have watched all of your videos. You are the only person I have seen who suggests that you don’t have to pack shoes together. Best tip ever. My biggest issue is that I have so many medications and skin issues. I have to pack toiletries that are prescription or online purchases. I do decant them, but we are going to Europe for 3 weeks and I have to keep some meds in original containers which takes up so much space! I’m a carry on only girl these days thanks to you!
We are going to Mexico in April and I was worried about my RX too. After some thought I came up w the little plastic pill baggies they sell in the pharmacy. They are aprox 2”x 2”. And they are super cheap. I asked the pharmacist if I could bring those in and have the stickers they put around the bottles reprinted in Spanish and stuck onto a baggie for each RX. They said they could do that 🎉 the only thing is is that they have to be the ones to put the stickers on. That was w Walmart. My MIL’s pharmacist (A small locally owned pharmacy) said they would do this too but they wanted her to bring in her pills and they would put the stickers on and put the amount of pills she would need for the trip in the baggies for her. Not sure what that accomplishes but hey, they’ll do it and it’ll save space in her suitcase. Hope this helps you too. I will be trading 6 RX bottles for 6 tiny baggies!🎉
You could probably do some creams like this too as long as they were on the thicker side and you made double sure the baggie was closed and you put all your little baggies maybe in a snack or sandwich sized baggie to protect against accidental leaks. Maybe, possibly??🤷♀️
Our pharmacy offers (for free) to put prescription meds in packets. I have AM and PM packets and they fold so compact. The drugs are listed on back of each packet. Saves so much room, and no trying to remember if I took all of my medications.
Good tips! Going to the Dominican in February for 9 days, and us girls are trying a carry on for the first time!
Oh, if your airline will not allow a fanny pack in addition to your personal item, trade it for a many pocketed travel vest (mine has 15 pockets) and a Tilly hat, which has a velcroed pocket in the crown (enough space for a few folded bills, a mylar space blanket, and a small first aid kit.)
I use my Scott eVest - it has about 18 pockets.
Thank you for this video. I’m going to be taking my first flight ever to Europe this summer for a 10 day trip. I’m terrified of if I pack for overhead luggage there won’t be room for it and getting it checked so I’m wanting to pack in an under seat bag for this trip. The clothes ideas were a big help. And was going to be bringing a small backpack to hold my medicines, book, hand sanitizer, and other little things will need easy access to for the flight.
Wow, this is brilliant Laurie, I would not have thought you could pack so much in a case like this. In fact, I previously ordered it and returned it because I thought it was too small to be useful. I am so grateful you made this video!
I was able to travel to Aus and NZ for 32 days in a bag this size and a Le Pliage tote. Temps ranged from 30F to 90F and we enjoyed the countryside, the cities, the desert and the GBR. It’s all about being thoughtful and knowing your style…I also concede that having a small foot helps as shoes over a size 6 or 7 may not fit as easily into that bag. Finally, I did some “surgery” to cut out the clear plastic divider pouch. That opened a LOT of space in the Lucas 16” Underseat Rolling bag.
Smart tip!
I agree, if you can pack for 3 days, you can travel for 3 months.
You are the best travel tips person here, thanks 😊
Glad you think so! Experience teaches me on every trip.
Fanny packs are definitely a must have for travel! Pretty much a 3rd carry on lol
That bag is The Best!!!!!!
Greetings! I really enjoyed your personal item packing video. It was detailed and very informative.
Thank you for watching!
These tips are amazing, Laurie - thanks!
Now to adjust this for the next week-long work-related trip. (smile)
Have fun!
Hello Laurie. I just found your channel yesterday. Great suggestions and cute outfits. One question, unless I missed a video on it, I notice here you do not pack a blow dryer or curling iron. Do you not use them? Perhaps a video that includes those items would be helpful. I did just order your personal bag yesterday, the Lovelook one. Can't wait to start using it. Thanks for the great tips!
Thanks for all your advice on traveling. Since finding you on youtube, I have gone from a large suitcase, personal item and a carry-on to only a carry-on and a personal item for Europe. Many thanks from Montréal (Quebec).
I am so happy to read that. Congrats!
❤ I’m ATTEMPTING to refresh my style of clothing to travel better…. Thanks for your links 🎉
You can do it! Think of rain or cold and blending colors.
I love the canvas wedges!
Yes they are great! I just bought a new sandal that has a little wedge. Steve Madden Keenan I think.
