Whether it's a 3 hour flight or a 16 hour flight, I pack my flight essentials [cell phone, nasal spray, medications, lens case (with solution in it), eyeglasses, gum, tissues, Shout wipes, antibacterial wipes, hand sanitizer, face mask, eye mask, small hairbrush, etc.] into a sports fanny pack that I'll wear if airline not strict, or put into my personal item if they are. Once at my seat, I strap it around the back of my tray table. It doesn't interfere with the operation of the tray table, everything is safely within reach and not falling onto floor, and there's no need to use the yucky seat pocket except for trash.

I am watching all these videos about planning for a trip on a plane. Planning is almost as good as the trip for me. I haven’t flown since I was three and I’m 64 now. Such is my fear. I want to get over that fear so I try to get excited about the planning. Sounds ridiculous, I know. I’m trying everything because my husband really wants to fly to destinations and I hate the thought of holding him back. He would never pressure me but I’m pressuring me. I’ve been reading books, buying online fear of flying courses, watching videos etc. Wish me luck.

I love the Trtl for long trips; for me, it really works when I sleep. And it is so small and lightweight... nothing like a blow up or prestuffed neck pillow that can be awkward to deal with once you arrive at your destination. The Trtl easily squishes into your suitcase when you don't need it. I also love the Napwrap which is a tiny thing that supports your arms without an armrest (so wonderful when traveling alone) and can also be used as an eye mask. Finally, while I like the book light you have, I LOVE my Kindle paperwhite. It has an adjustable backlight so you can read in all light levels from pitch black to beach side. It also carries dozens and dozens of books on it, and can even be used as an area light in a hotel room.

My friend buys a neck pillow at the airport, then dumps it when she arrives. Going home, she does the same thing. It’s only $15 each way.
I was on a flight, and someone had one of those little reading lights. The flight attendant made her turn it off because it was bothering her neighbors, something to keep in mind.
I bring nose spray. A new bottle for each trip. It will flush germs, etc. while on the flight, and in airports. Also, always bring antibacterial wipes. I also have them in my purse, sometimes restrooms won’t have what you need.
Some airlines will provide a tiny tube of toothpaste and a disposable toothbrush for use on the flight. I use it once on the plane and once when we get off into the airport. Love the idea of toothpaste tablets!!!

I know you say that the Cabeaux neck pillow is for tall necks only, but I have a short neck and a short torso and love it. I take a cloth book bag in my backpack, then fold my coat into it to make a pad to sit on - more or less a booster seat. 😂 I can’t stay awake on a plane, so it’s been so helpful on long haul flights to have that support and not wake up with a “crick” in my neck!

I prefer wired earbuds to airpods, but they don't work with phones that don't have a headphone jack. just fine for seatback screens, though. I use Sephia brand, they don't tangle, and my first pair survived three years of yanking them out multiple times a day.
as a guy I use a jacket for my "flight items" carrier. it has 4 big cargo pockets and a hidden pocket in the placket that I carry my passport in. I carry my phone, kindle, anything I would normally have in my pants pockets, (except my leatherman micra) a couple granola bars, my earbuds, and I can drop anything I pick up in the airport, as well. we bought Mrs K a neck pillow before the last international flight, and she didn't use it.
addendum: I wore my compression socks for the short haul flights last month, and it was nice. also made it easy to slip the shoes off and on for security.

For packing to come home, take all your dirty clothes and fold them. I found they take up way less space than just wadding them up and who cares if they wrinkle, they’re dirty. You can also presort them for laundry when you get home. I put mine in a shopping bag then put any clean clothes in a packing cube.

      Great advice! Thank you!
I have a few favorite hacks:
      1. I put on my “flying fuzzy socks” while lining up at security. Once cleared, I take them off and put back on my regular socks and sneakers. I get all cozied up on the plane and pull out the flying socks and put them on again. When I need to get up, I take off the socks and slip into my sneakers. Moral of the story… the inside of my sneakers won’t get all gross and dirty.
      2. I wear prescription glasses. A must have is my eyeglass case to put them in when I sleep. I do the same at our accommodations. What a nightmare to have your glasses broken! PS - I also travel with a tiny eyeglass repair kit and several glass wipes.
      3. An RIFD blocking travel neck pouch. We’ve used neck pouches often, but I just bought a blocking one today. My passport, credit cards, DL, cash and a small pill box with several days worth of my meds fit in it perfectly. In the event of an evacuation, I’ll shove my cell in there too. I’ll use it at our destinations as well.
      4. ONE container with all the little snacks! So easy to pass around with travel partners too.
      5. A travel pouch of Clorox wipes and several disposable gloves. We wipe down our zones and also in the bathroom 🤢. Really easy to ball up the wipe, take off the glove inside out and throw away. Germs are bad!
      Happy travels! ✈️

I disagree with sandals, especially traveling to a warm destination, just put on your compression socks with them. Then when you land, take the socks off and you're good to go. I also have a thin jersey tavel blanket that is also great for hotels or even a beach blanket- travel blanket is a must for me as long as it isn't thick and bulky.

I have dentures and can only wear the tops, so the tablets aren't good for me since chewing them is non-existent lol. And with the Wisps, I'm actually brushing my teeth instead of just freshening my mouth....oh, and when I go to places where I can't drink their water like in Africa, the Wisps come in handyfor the everyday care.

have I mentioned that I am thrilled with the Travelpro luggage you recommended? I know I mentioned I prefer the two wheel luggage over the spinners. I use straps to train them together, and I was able to wheel a hundred pounds of luggage through the airport with one finger. (hopefully we'll be lighter for the long haul flight - I won't have to bring tools)
also, again, the Bogush medicine cooler is great for insulin pens. the TSA may need to hand check it, but she said, "I just ordered one of these"

I wear a cape…. It is what you would consider bulky. But I have used it for years. It is also a blanket. I have a couple of them one is thin. The other one is all wool and lined. Deciding is sometimes difficult. Where I am going, time of year, and most of all I consider whether I’ll need it on the plane for a blanket or a pillow for that matter. I would say at this point I use the light because it can roll up into a smaller bundle. It’s usually enough when I’m in the plane just a little extra warmth is nice. Being autistic I really need is my cat or my dog laying on me…. Not an option😊

I had a lot of business trips in the past, but I guess, for now the rules have changed, at least in some countries. It still depends on your company though. But I see much more women wearing sport shoes in business exhibition events etc. where you get on-off the plane and must be moving a lot. In the past I used to use some slip-in with medium heel and close forepart for flight cosiness when longer flight when foot might swell etc. , because you need to have shoes with closed forepart for business meeting in many countries / cultures.
