    Booked a flight from EWR to MCO for Spring break through United for $77!! When I saw the price my jaw dropped. Bought 7 tickets right away. It's basic economy but the trip is short and plan to add a few bagged luggage. I didn't know about United Explorer card holders so I booked it with a regular card. @TheCityandBeyond  4 года назад +1

      Thank you! We're getting closer to that 1000! What's funny is we've only been able to really use it once together for that very reason. Delayed cause of weather and we hung out in the lounge and door drinks, read comics and played Sims 4.
      Its sometimes hard to find a lounge or one open when we need. Wish they had more 24hr ones but it seems like those your of lounges are generally at more airports overseas.
      We've also thought about getting an American Express card for that reason and once we expand the family. That would even cover lounges at events as well. And sometimes, you need to take a break from a crowd haha. And we don't think it's limited to a specific airport lounge like United clubs.

    Hey, thanks for the info! How do you guys get your free checked bag? I booked with the Explorer card but of course the United system doesn't know that, so it wants me to prepay for checked bags. Flying out of SFO, so trying to avoid the big lines.

    • @TheCityandBeyond

      So this is usually automatic when it comes time to pay for the checked bag. However, technology is faulty. If it doesn't automatically say $0 with a crossed out price you can call united and they can sort it out fairly quickly. They'll like your card to your account to your account so it doesn't happen in the future. If you're short go to the check in desk before going through security.

      on the same reservation when credit card or miles are used as payment to book travel

      You should call them again. And if you didn't get a refund, you likely got a credit instead.

      Was your ticket basic economy or regular economy? There is $200 change flight fee for basic economy seat for the domestic flight. If you purchased regular economy, you will get the full price in credit. Your confirmation number for the flight you canceled is the credit code that you can use for the future flight.

    LUGGAGE TIPS 1, 2, 3
    Tie two or three colored ribbons of different lengths around the handle to your luggage to warn others that this is not their luggage. People grab luggage at the turnstile and take it home before you ever see it.
    Anywhere you put your bag, it could be grabbed in error. Example: overhead compartment, unloaded from the bus, at the hotel lobby, at the turnstile...
    Use 1” wide ribbons 14” long. Cut the ends at 45 degrees then seal the end with one drop of Super Glue to prevent fraying. If each ribbon is slightly a different length by 1/2” or so, they will all show up no matter how they drape.
    Tie the 3 ribbons as a sandwich, as if they were one ribbon. Use a man’s tie, a half Windsor knot for the best look. After it is tied on, the total length of the ribbons will be about 6” from the handle. A longer ribbon shows up better. You can see it from 40 feet away. Perhaps tie TWO handles or RINGS top and side of the case. This way, it won’t slide around.
    Put your phone number on one ribbon using a permanent Sharpie.
    Example: “Owner 454-333-7878”
    Choose one ribbon with an unusual pattern or fabric to really make it unique.
    Stand by the output hole port of the turnstile to reduce the chance of someone else grabbing the piece.
    Tie your skiies, duffel bag, and what ever with matching ribbons-even your computer case.
    If you are a Travel Agent, you could hot gold stamp one ribbon with your name and phone number. Send them a set of ribbons, red and blue and BLACK to your customer as a gift. Record this gift in your database so you don’t duplicate yourself.
    Buy a gold hot embossing machine. Gold emboss your business name on the BLACK ribbon. Put the customer’s name on it if possible.
    Pleasant color combinations:
    Red and blue
    Chartreuse and purple
    Orange and light blue
    Orange and yellow
    Gray and pink
    Green and yellow
    Red and Green
    Red and Gold
    Light blue and light green
    The third ribbon could be white, gray, black, tan
    Tip #2 Take a cell phone picture of the ribbon tied on. Then another picture of the full luggage piece. You now have a way to communicate “what it looks like”.
    Tip #3 Place a strip of colored duct tape on the inside lining to your case. Put your name and phone number on this tape. If all identity is stripped from your case, you have this to show. If someone steals it and rips off identity tags, you can show the police officer the inside tape.

    Thanks for the video. I am trying to book a United flight to India. It has two types of fares- Economy (Lowest) and Economy (Flexible). Could you please compare the two? United’s site doesn’t do a good job of explaining the differences clearly. Thank you!

    • @TheCityandBeyond
      @TheCityandBeyond  3 года назад +1

      Hey! It sounds like the Lowest is Economy and the Flexible is Basic Economy. We created a video about basic economy here ruclips.net/video/YZIimgsvTtM/видео.html. Let us know if you need more info. Also, let us know where your departure city is cause some basic economy policies may not apply.

    • @TheCityandBeyond
      @TheCityandBeyond  3 года назад +1

      To answer your question: Economy is a regular ticket and the lowest fair available, meaning the basic economy tickets are are not available. The flexible is a refundable ticket.
      Basic Economy - Non Refundable (usually)
      Economy - Refundable (with exceptions)
      Flexible - Refundable
      Hope this helps!

    So we have a international flight coming up and 2 of the flights say basic economy , but when booking we booked economy, so we will take our carry on and personal, so the next flight to destination will we be charged for bags because of basic? And it's the same coming back but it starts with basic and ends with economy
    So confusing. I wouldn't mind the extra bag charge if it wasn't 7 travelers 🤔😏

    • @TheCityandBeyond
      @TheCityandBeyond  3 года назад +1

      Had to look it up to make sure we said the correct thing haha. " On trans-Atlantic flights to and from the U.S., Mexico and Central America, your carry-on baggage allowance is the same as for standard Economy tickets."
      I'm not sure why your economy tickets would come up as basic economy though. But at least, you are allowed carry-ons and personal items like economy tickets. Kamau is going to do a deeper research just in case. So stayed tuned.

    So you don't get a carry on with basic economy, but if you book basic economy with that card you DO get a carry on? Just booked our honeymoon return flight through United with Basic Economy, but my mom used her United Explorer card. I don't want to pay a checked baggage fee for the carry on we will have from our first flight (through American) so I'm just trying to figure out if we should upgrade to economy or if we get the free carry on because we used the credit card to book. Thanks!

      Hey Jamal. First congrats on your ten year anniversary! A decade is a really big deal.
      If you want to splurge a little economy plus is a good option but economy is just fine. I think it's probably better to spend that plus money in Vegas. Economy seats to us are comfy. But what's your biggest concern?
