Hi Dave. Just watching your Video of Clough Head, Dockray. You talked about a guy who was ill and your RUclips videos were his life line. Well, my husband and I are 80 years old and no longer able to fell walking and watch you as a means of reliving our days walking around Ullswater & Keswick areas. We really enjoyed watching and listening to your chat. Please keep going as we would really miss you if you couldn't be bothered to carry on. Kind regards Joyce Hopps.
Here's the test,Dave, as to whether or not you're a bagger. If you can leave it at 213 and walk away, you're not a bagger. If you're compelled to tick off that last one, you're a bagger. Top notch video as always .Good shots of the deer.
Agree it can take weeks or months of regular hill walking to get properly hill fit & unfortunately it only takes a few missed weeks of not getting out for fitness to take a battering. Great vid again, back to brews with a view 👏
What an amazing video Dave. These are more like documentaries than vlogs. I'm a bit later commenting, because I finally managed my first camp since my injury in 2020 just last week......in the gap between the Crinkles and Bowfell. Happy Days!!
Your videos are A1, Dave you great knowledge of Lake District, and have commented previously being a mountain instructor. All the best Dave from Philip.
Great video Dave , you are turning into the ultimate bagger 😂, love the high street area, I camped at angle tarn once nearby and was surrounded by deer, best tarn for camping, take care bagger, I mean dave
Another fantastic video Dave! I'm off up to the lakes for Thursday and Friday night up by Styhead and then on Lingmore Fell so fingers crossed the weather holds out! :)
Great video Dave & lovely pitch. Know exactly where that is. Agree with the fitness thing, it gets me when I’ve been ill for a week or so then go out, feel so knackered! 😂 You are correct with the pair of G.Eagles, I believe one of them die around 20yrs ago & the other (male) was still there for about 10yrs, but I think they reckon we lost him around 2015/16 😢 I’m Hoping to be up in the lakes next week overnight 🤞 can’t wait. Take care mate, might see you in a few wks for a glass of red 😉 ATB Dave
Yea great stuff me and my mate went walking on Friday me at 53 and my mate at 48 decided its being in nature and being able to trumps money any day of the week
another great video mate. I do know what you mean about losing the mountain fitness. i have not been out for a month and I know it will be tough when I do get out next. thanks as always Dave for sharing with us.👍👍🙏🙏
Nice and chilled Dave. Lovely film..You just took everything in around you, the views, the wildlife, the stillness. You brought the whole atmosphere of this camp to us brilliantly. Great that you had decent weather as well, makes a massive difference. Cheers for sharing👍
Rest dodd and the Nab in October is the place to be to witness those Red deer in full Rut. Very special indeed. We were coming off place fell on route to angletarn pikes Friday gone when that military transporter plane flew through patterdale 👍
Another good one Dave. Apparently they think the last Golden Eagle, a male may have died in 2015. Its mate died in 2004. The male probably died from natural causes as it was around 20 years old. There’s a crag on the North side of Rough crag called Eagle Crag, where they were regularly seen.
As for deer..... I was doing a Snowy gully on Grey Crag you pointed to at the start a few years ago and some deer came past and one slipped and fell 😢 hard to watch. Seen them over at Harrop tarn too. Always a beautiful sight. Your phone did a good job! 👍
Absolutely superb video...what a stunning location you piched the tent...and....wow...the drone footage especially above the clouds, pure pure brilliance.. Many thanks for a great video and best wishes.
Hi Dave, Yet another great watch. I did pretty much the same area a few years ago....well, actually the Riggindale Horseshoe (didn't see the elusive Golden Eagle - as you stated, long gone I think). Great area with superb long ranging 360 views. Sadly though now my knees are saying "no more"....so I rely on your great vids to get my fix. Many thanks Dave👌👍
It’s a nice walk from the same car park up to Threshthwaite Mouth then onto Thornthwaite Crag where the beacon is, back along High Street to Angle Tarn then to Boredale Hause and back down but if you’re feeling really fit you can nip up to Place Fell too.
Brilliant Dave. Shame about all those Wainrights🤣That aircraft was a A400m Atlas of the RAF. Huge thing! I hadn’t been out for a couple of months too due to the awful wet winter. I just did a hooped bivy on Great Dun Fell, the next one along from Cross Fell. It was still ice on the bivy, Cross Fell is a great pitch, with some fab views of the Lakes and often some great cloud formations. There are some very interesting mining valleys in that area. High Cup Nick is a great pitch but can be very midgey in summer. You often get that cloud spilling over the Harter fell crags into Mardale. Great stuff Dave 💼 💼 💼 💼
Cheers UP. I’ve always fancied Crossfell even 20 odd years ago when I was mountain biking but never actually got round to it. One for the future maybe 👍
Living in Kendal this area is easily accessible to me know it well. I have taken that route off Brock crags before and I would not recommend it. Where you signed off from the walk down through the woods is a nightmare for descending when your legs are already tired.
always a pleasure to watch your work. been up high street about four times, never had a view. never felt like a summit though due to the gradient being so gentle, you just get there and ohh i,m here.
Yeah, I know what you mean Garry. It’s more of a big rounded hill than a spiky mountain. You can see why they used to call it racecourse Hill when they race me horses up there back in the day. It’s a very long flat summit. ATB 👍
@@TheSoloSummiteer doesn't help that every time I have been there, you couldn't see more than 20 meters. Just seemed to walk along flat ground and a trig point appears.
Lovely video Dave, always enjoy the relaxed way you deliver the content❤. Im at an age if i take too long to pee I can loose my hill fitness 😂. Many many thanks for sharing your adventures.
Awesome camp. It's a wonderful area Dave isn't it. My last Inversion on Rampsgill head was a fav. Going with an old friend next week and had Kidsy pike as a possible. That approach, I did the same and am gonna go up the other path next, get a slightly different perspective. Love the relative quiet. Drone shots again really show off the beauty 👍. Just need the weather you got....Hmmmm 😂. Still jealous of your Mammut Jacket 😂
Absolutely brilliant video Dave, thoroughly enjoyed that. Glad you got some good weather. Not been up high street for about 10 years scenery around them parts is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Ohhh! Just saw the aircraft shot. I've actually done that 2/3 times in the 80s. The RAF used to do that as part of their exercise before dropping us off over a DZ called Fozzy Moss. They used to chuck the aircraft around, I was nearly always sick and glad when the jump doors opened.😂😂
Have stayed at the Brotherswater Inn a couple of times, using it has a base for walks in that area. The High Street/Kidsty Pike area is great and you showed that off so well! Seemed in really good spirits in this one. 💪🏼
Jealous? Not much - honest. Great video as per usual. Hooked on your adventures. You REALLY need to trademark “LOOK AT THAAAT!” Brilliant scenery reactions! Makes me chuckle! Keep up the good work mate 👍👍
I walked up from Hartsop exactly the same way two years ago and at my age then, sixty three, it blew my arse out even though I train hard at the gym. Have you thought about a Hilleberg Niak for this time of year? I love mine, it’s got acres of space, is lightweight and dead easy to pitch. I was up near Blencathra on Saturday night and the wind was definitely well over 20mph and it was rock solid although I did double guy the windward end.
Great to see you back in the hills Dave….brilliant video.❤🏔️👍 It’s always tough getting back on the hills after a few weeks or a month off, but I always find it doesn’t take long to get my hill legs back. ATP Jim.🏔️🏔️⛺️👌
You don’t appear to be patting the top of the cairn or trig point at each summit in the approved manner, Dave. It doesn’t really matter as you’re not a bagger, but if you were you would need to go back and do them all again 🤓

That’s awesome Kelvin. So pleased to hear that. Well done, man 💪👊⛰️⛺️🙏🏻
great video Dave. And it's OK to do some bagging once in a while, no harm in that. thanks for the awesome scenery.
