Great video. I bought one in march and have used it on some high summits, 1 being Blencathra in 45mph gusting winds and it did not move an inch. Feeling safe and not stressed out is so important when out in bad weather and this tent puts so much confidence in you that youll be ok. Defo a tent thats gone under the radar.
I bought one a couple of years ago….and discovered that it’s the strongest by weight tent I’ve ever owned! I do own a couple of mountaineering tents that are a little bit stronger but both of them weigh twice as much! It’s a great tent at around 5 pounds….
@@Sneaky-Sneaky I got the impression it’s handle the UK weather fairy well, I can tell it’s a lot stronger than some of my other tents, especially the BA. 😂 thanks very much for watching
Picked a cracking spot bud. I haft to be honest I often skip channels when it’s just the same tent as everyone but the Kuiu is one you don’t see too much and it’s a banger in my eyes. Always good to get the winter set up out before winter as a dry run too. ATVB Robert
@@Moffatmountainadventures Thanks bud, The Kuiu seems a good piece of kit so far. Looking forward to getting out with it some more next few week. Thanks for watching mate 👍🏼
@@iamchriswhelan Thanks bud, think I bring too much than I need on these camps but always better to have it just incase I suppose, might being a wheelbarrow for it on the next one. 🤪 Yeah man hope we get some proper snow this year. Thanks for watching mate. 😁
Cracking vid, I was in the same boat £970 on a hilleberg niak, then £800 on the unna, settled on the kuiu £530 plus post, looks a solid tent by all accounts 👍
@@cuprajake1 Thanks very much, much appreciated. Aye for the money the build quality is really good, and from what I’ve seen in other videos it can handle the wind really well. Thanks for watching 😁
Great video mate. I'm on the lookout for a tent to use in the colder months, will definitely take a look at this. What app/site do you use for the weather? I find that mountain forecast has never let me down.
@@mananddog.outdoors cheers bud. It seems alright so far, but it had an easy maiden voyage. 😂 I also use Mountain Forecast. It’s been alright last couple of week tho to be fair. Started using one called Meteoblue too which seems to be alright. Thanks for watching mate. 👍🏼
Ive had the storm star a few years and its a cracking winter tent ive had it in 50mph wind and handled it no problems.the clamps ease up a little with use.not being that tall the door isnt really a prob for me but some have mentioned it before.i also considered the allak and so glad i went with the storm star.
@@craig3401 It feels like a well built piece of kit. Wind picked up to about 20mph the following morning and it didn’t flinch without the guys being pegged out. 😁 thanks very much for watching.
Really like the new tent and the content is cracking too im torn between the vern 1 and the kuiu was looking at the website earlier and they have an older version where poles are all covered in a sleeve but same concept its 350 or there abouts

@Northern_Rockhopper yeah i will do marra I've been dying to try one of these curry's I normally do all my own im just thinking about the weigjt for this coming winter
Nice camp, video. I’ve have had a Storm Star for a few years now. My first pitch, mid-October a few years ago, rain turning to snow. Did not open any vents/doors, etc. a virtual rain forest inside the tent. Lesson learned. Subbed. 18:30, nice hat, mind if I ask what brand?
@@craigy1872 No idea to be honest, just make sure you select buying from UK if you’re getting one. Wheter they have a European Dept they ship from I’m not sure. Thanks very much for watching 👍🏼
@@bernardscott1783 Not really to be honest, peg out the 4 corners, insert the poles into the sleeves and away you go. There’s five clamps/hooks that clamp the poles together, at first they’re tricky to manage, but when you get the knack of how to unlock/connect them they’re easy really. Thanks for watching. 👍🏼
@bernardscott1783 I have accumulated far too many tents over the years, and I would say my KUIU Storm Star is one of the easiest to pitch and strike, particularly in windy (or wet) conditions. It pitches with the inner and outer pre connected, and it is easy to ensure that even before fully pegging out and inserting the poles the fly stays over the inner. The poles only fit in small sleeves at the base, and it is then a case of building up from the bottom by clipping the flysheet to the exoskeleton poles. I also rate it quality wise to my Hilleberg Keron, so if you are thinking of getting one I would highly recommend it!
