    That view was breath-taking, every trip a new home and a new view. Delicious meal and you awoke to that view in the morning. I think you were owed that one after the trials of the Scotland trip.

      👍😀 no bugs, no wind, a nice meal and that incredible view! Such a nice camp. I really enjoyed the Scotland trip, but it did make this camp feel extra special because everything just went so smoothly. Aside from not getting to fly the drone. Still a little disappointed about that 😂. Really appreciate you watching. Hope you have a nice weekend.

    The Unna was the absolutely perfect choice for your outing. The view from the Unnas massive door was sublime 😊. You achieved on your camp what most wild campers dream about. 10 out of 10 for you and your Unna 🤜🤛

      Thank you. When the weather is nice and I just want to immerse myself in my environment, being able to open that entire side of the tent is just fantastic. Especially when I get a spot like this and I have a view down into the valley from the tent as well. Such a cool perspective when you’re on the edge of a small ledge like this. Really appreciate you watching. Hope you’re having a nice weekend.

    So good at multiple levels. The hike, the views, the pitch. It evoked a lot of memories. Each year for 10 years I would stay ast Askam in Furness and hike the Lakes district. Just wonderful. The Black Dog pub had great food and atmosphere. The cooking! Thats the cook system I have and of course the cooking was great and again it evoked memories as we would prep foods freeze them and youd get 1. A way of keeping a beer cold 2. Fresh food on day one. Its also nice to see a camp without drama. Too many other channels have a constant “ hiking into a blizzard with only my underpants as a shelter” blah blah. And finally the teaser- new tents coming!
    Well done mate 👍

      Thank you! “Hiking into a blizzard with only my underpants as a shelter” 🤣😂👍. I agree, I have had my fair share of nasty weather camps, but I definitely don’t search for crappy weather. Don’t get me wrong, if I have an opportunity to camp and the weather is not great. I’ll still go if I can’t change my plans, but I’d prefer nice weather and a great view anytime! Especially in such a beautiful area like the Lake District! Really appreciate your comments as always. Hope you have a nice weekend.

    I have the Hilleberg Akto and Nammatj 2. The Akto is a little to small, and unstable in super strong winds, in my opinion. And the Nammatj 2 is maybe a little too luxurious for one person. I used my Akto during a hike a month ago in Swedish Lapland and one night I was really worried that the tent wouldn't make it in the storm. I was way outside mobile network converage and if something would've happen I'd have days of hiking before reaching any kind of civilization. Luckliy the tent held up, but I was seriously worried all night. The Unna has caught my interest as a super nice single person tent for the kind of environment I usually hike in. Very sturdy (even more with 10mm poles) and so versatile.
    Thanks for sharing! Just discovered this channel and I really like it 👍

      Welcome to the channel. I have the Enan and although it’s very strong for a single pole tent, I typically don’t take it out if I know the winds are going to be really strong. The Nammatj on the other hand is one of my go to tents in terrible weather. I agree it’s definitely luxurious for one, but when the weather is horrible, I like to have the extra space to spread out. The Unna is a nice compromise. Plenty of space for one person and it can handle a surprising amount of wind with a few extra guy lines and the 10 mm poles 👍. Really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. Hope you have a nice weekend!

    I think Unna is my winner (tent to buy). The fact that you can easily fit your back pack inside plus the amount of cooking space (you don’t really need a “proper “ vestibule) is incredible.

    • @GoingSoloOutdoors
      @GoingSoloOutdoors  3 месяца назад

      I know it’s not for everyone because it doesn’t have a traditional vestibule, but even with the door closed I have plenty of space to put my shoes and any wet gear. And pack easily fits inside the tent with me. I love that I can have it completely open to my environment and the simplicity of the two poles makes it so easy to pitch. For me it’s been the perfect tent 👍. Although, if the winds are gonna be really crazy, I still prefer to take either a tunnel tent or a 3 pole dome tent. Really appreciate you watching.

    What a fantastic pitch and bet you were so happy to have that incredible view in the morning. The more I watch your videos the more inclined I am to purchase a Trangia 27 to hopefully cook some amazing meals like your own. My only concern would be having to use it inside the vestibule of the tent in rough weather. Been watching lots of reviews on them and seen some randomly kick out a flame thrower for a brief couple of seconds whilst cooking. What are your thoughts on using the Trangia inside the tent and are there some rules you stick to whilst using it? Great videos, keep doing what your doing.

    • @GoingSoloOutdoors
      @GoingSoloOutdoors  2 месяца назад +2

      Thanks! I was very happy to get that view in the morning 😀. I love my trangia 27, it’s like a mini kitchen. I haven’t really experienced any flare ups with my trangia. That’s one of the reasons I prefer using it to gas. I use a bioethanol instead of methylated spirits so maybe that has contributed to me not having any issues. Although, it’s never a good idea to cook in the vestibule, especially with an alcohol stove unless you have to and are extremely careful. I prefer using the trangia 27 because it is extremely stable and I have never knocked any fuel out of the stove but it’s definitely a risk. Really appreciate you taking the time to comment. Your Keen boots, how is the traction on the rocks wet or dry? There is a new IV WP series out I'm looking at. Incredible view from the Hilleberg Hilton. Your backpack, well vented on back? Do you know you have it on? No midgees I watch and talk with Tom Heaney he has been trying some interesting new designs out. Successful as well. All good look forward to future camps.

    • @GoingSoloOutdoors
      @GoingSoloOutdoors  3 месяца назад

      Thanks! I’m still very bummed as well that I couldn’t show this location with the drone. Perhaps I’ll be back when there’s some snow on the ground. I am going to be testing the new Nortent Ly1 and the new Durston X Dome. I’m very hesitant to accept ANY gear from a company because I’m definitely not here to promote anything. I’m just going to use the tents as I would normally use any of my other tents in a video and give my impressions. Nortent is now only the second company I’ve actually ever decided to accept a tent from when offered, the first being that giant Pomoly tent that I camped in last year (that was such a cozy camp!). Initially, I was going to turn down the tent because of all the drama surrounding the Vern 1 as I just didn’t want be a part of all that. I definitely don’t want to be on of these guys on RUclips the just uses a new tent in a video because the company wants to give them one for free but if I genuinely find it interesting or if it’s something I might buy myself then I’ll consider it. I do find the design quite unique for a single man tunnel tent, so I was curious enough that I really wanted to give it a try. You’ll probably be seeing that one in my next video. As for the Durston. I actually contacted them after my Scotland trip because I’m looking for a lightweight freestanding tent for future multi day trips. They were kind enough to agree to let me try it out 👍. I’m very excited about that one!

      @@GoingSoloOutdoors. Thanks, I have roughly the same distances to travel to the lakes and snowdonia... I just hate driving so I'm looking to use the train instead to get further afield this winter... Thanks for your reply I just find it really interesting.

    I'm sitting here at home watching this video on Friday evening thinking my supper isn't as nice as what you're eating there! (I do have a nice can of ale though - Unbarred 'Joosy').
