  • The first Galfond Challenge shook the poker world in 2020, with Phil Galfond's stock plummeting at the hands of 'VeniVidi1993.' What went on behind the scenes during the million-dollar downswing?
    🎁 Phil's free e-book & weekly poker strategy: ➡️ galfond.link/s...
    Through interviews with family, friends, and Phil himself, this poker documentary series provides clarity on a variety of questions, such as how Phil Galfond started playing poker professionally, the origin of the companies Run it Once Poker and Run it Once Training, where the Galfond Challenge came from as well as how it affected him personally, and even how Phil and Farah Galfond met.
    In weekly episodes, people who know Phil personally like Andrew Robl, Jason Koon, Brian Rast, Matt Berkey, Nick Schulman, Maria Ho, Elliot Roe, Farah Galfond, David Tuchman, Joe Stapleton, Dan Quinn, Jason Senti, Joni Jouhkimainen, and Landon Tice share insights and highlights from their time spent with and around Phil through the years..
    Whether it’s the reality of playing poker at the highest level against the best poker players in the world, operating a poker training / poker coaching site and an online poker site, or facing tough personal loss and finding the ability to triumph, this documentary aims to highlight the emotional rollercoaster you may be faced within a non-traditional career path like playing professional poker.
    In every poker related video on this channel, Phil Galfond is here to teach you how to think like a professional poker player.
    It doesn’t matter whether you’re a new or beginner poker player (or even a full time poker coach!)
    Do you need the best Texas Hold ‘em poker strategy and top tier Pot Limit Omaha tips?
    Do you have a high stakes poker story question that you’d like to hear from the POV of a poker professional who was THERE?
    Leave a comment and your question might end up in the next one of Phil’s quick poker tips videos or inspiring one of his high stakes poker story clips!
    Remember to Subscribe for more high stakes poker content and turn on notifications so you don't miss any Galfond Challenge content or other poker live streams!

    Following the first Challenge Match made me realize (again) that I was missing the importance of playing good poker. Normal people rarely make epic comebacks. I'm starting to love poker more on more. And one of the reasons is that poker can be such a good teacher. It makes you humble and it puts you back to work, after every victory that your starting to have. You can't win it in the long run if you don't take the pain, if you don't overcome the challenges, if you don't keep yourself disciplined, pacient and gratefull for what your life blessed you with until the present moment.
    Phil, thanks for sharing this amazing experience. I'm going through a downswing right now, but I know deep inside that I'll overcome it and comeback stronger and wiser. And your story fueled up my convinction that pain is only temporary and we all should take it, deal with it and win, in every aspect of our life!❤

    Genuinely heartbroken my favorite moment of the challenge didn't make it in here. When that threshold was crossed and you were snap folding every hand, then Veni decided to start limping to force you to see flops and you hit him with the "Oh no" emote

    • @PhilGalfond
      @PhilGalfond  Месяц назад

      Btw, the “oh no” was because I had the nut flush on the turn, and he potted, and I didn’t know if I could call and fold a board pair and still be up enough!

  • @Lotussta
    @Lotussta Месяц назад +1

    TRIVIA: they dont show it here but legit like 10 hands from the end Veni had started limping to force Galfond into postflop hands when he wanted to blindly fold. In one of them Galfond turns the NUT FLUSH and veni starts potting into him and Galfond folds the nuts to avoid possible rivered boats that would swing the bet. Movie moment.

    • @Moonlightmaster

      All the while Joe is screaming: WHAT THE **** why is he playing a hand.
      There are many moments and aspects of this challenge that can't be featured in a 20 minute episode.
      But I think this is incredibly well done and this is actually a great resource to point people to when somebody did not catch the Galfond Challenge when it happened.
      It captures the intensity and the entire emotional roller coaster really well.

    So you are telling me that, as of this moment, 38K people have watched this and I'm only the 2.2Kish like?? Really? Absolutely a fantastic story and GREAT storytelling. Everyone needs a "Farah" in their corner. Thanks for sharing!

    I’m not tearing up, I, uh, got something in my eye.
    The story being told is fantastic, especially the cut of all of the team while the commentary is going. Epic.
    Well done, sir. 🫡
