Mandarin Translation: Charlie says Martin plays too well. Andy was like what plays too well??? Nik says no, he doesn't play too well, he plays too annoying. Essentially they don't enjoy playing with Martin. Its 6am and Nik pointed that he didn't want a Headache. Its not fair if everyone has played for hours and hours and is tired, and a fresh player sits down with juice/refreshed and started annoying the fuck out of you is my analysis of the situation.

At higher stakes games are typically private because they wouldn’t run on there own someone has to set up the time and text everyone to come . If someone is unwanted gets too many complaints they stop getting invited. As a poker pro part of your job is to be likeable and have fun with the action players. If you fail to do so no more invite

I think the biggest problem is Feldman idealistic idea of a 24 hour poker stream. The first 17 hours was fantastic, but the last stretch was really a torture to the remaining few players trying to just stick around 4 handed to get over the finishing line. A better idea would be to have 6 new players going in at the 16-18 hours stretch to end the show.

I support the player walkout. Force HCL to make some hard decisions on how to run these looooong streams. 17 hours in and now you have a fully refreshed guy who already did a questionable walkout and will absolutely be loud and annoying. MMMMbye
In my cardroom we had one guy who was so horrible for the game because he was literally a complete douche. He was constantly angling and badmouthing everyone. Many, many times he would berate a new player so bad they rack up and leave after like 10 minutes, never to return. The mgmt had threatened to ban him on many occasions but just never would.
I aligned with the regulars that every single time he was seated we would all rack out and either play PLO Omaha (douchey won't play it) or just drive to one of the 2 other cardrooms nearby. I even informed mgmt why. After the 3rd time we broke a full table due to Douchey sitting down, they finally waited for him to berate a player in another game and banned him.
I could never understand their logic for allowing him to play when several times I went to the poker5 mgr to point out a new player racking up after being berated. Is Douchey's rake worth losing new players? Really?

End of the day HCL is a business but at the same token, I doubt they have any true say over the players. Even if they stake a portion of the higher stakes games. If they don't want to play they don't want to play, unless they have a contract the players are under no obligation to do so.

  • @raymondhernandez

High stakes games have a tendency to be political. You wanna be invited back either as a fish or a nice guy. Those previous antics preceded Martin and they just didn’t wanna deal with him so late into the game. I’ve seen that happen in many private games. Trust me, if Martin bleeds chips into other players’ stack, they would welcome him in 24/7.

I personally enjoyed watching and listening to Martin when he was on stream this week. I do think it was crappy of him to up and leave, but he did do what Ryan asked and stayed for another 30 minutes. His departure was looked on as much worse because of Nik and Santosh bouncing though. Personally if those two fish left my game, I would probably all of a sudden remember a meeting I had to go to as well. :) Good video as always

Well first of all he’s probably not supposed to leave especially when this is a live broadcasted game and they should have some kind of agreement beforehand.
Secondly, he did it first by leaving, so he asked for it. If he could do it, they can also not play with him. There’s an order of events.
Lastly sometimes not everything is fair anyway. A poker game can afford to lose one player, but can’t lose a bunch, the game simply breaks and that’s not what HCL and the audience want to see.

@TheRockisaBondMovie I don't like airball either. But people at the table like him. Martin is intentionally annoying in an attempt to get an edge. Airball is just having fun and sometimes goes too far with his jokes. You seem to be saying that you like Martin's antics and not Airball's, it's inconsistent, my gripe is with Martin constantly on the edge of courteous play and near angling. I don't like the crazy antics, but people like it sometimes. 23 hours into a stream it's OKAY that those at the table don't want to play with him, and I think he doesn't add anything meaningful to other streams, and the players don't like playing with him, so there should be no reason he gets to be a reg on the show which is one of the best games in the world. @georgewbushcenterforintell147 "no evidence of cheating even though it might be possible." Yes, that's my point. He's constantly pushing the line of etiquette vs angle shooting, and the whole reason the rule of having to be seated while in a hand at the WSOP was implemented was because he was walking over to people and looking at the backs of their cards. That's not okay even if it's not cheating. Ultimately, it's no surprise these guys don't want to play with him fresh while they're pushing 20 hours at the table for some.

They were afraid to play with him, only Charlie admitted it, the other guys used the annoying thing as an excuse because of their egos. They should be afraid to play with him, he's a good player and he has an unfair advantage being rested, the idea of a 24 hour stream is that it's a marathon session but everyone is on a level playing field because they do the 24 hours together, if a weak player shows up rested it's not a problem but a fresh player that is also a strong player is a huge problem, there's no shame in admitting it but these guys have big egos.
When I started playing poker there were these things called newspapers, it was words printed on paper that would tell you the days news, weather etc. when I would get stuck and play all night these guys would show up at 7am with a coffee and one of these newspaper things and just wait for good hands while reading the paper and wreck all the overnight players, this is pretty much the same concept.
