    Gutted this is being so frustrating for you. Book an MOT, get it upto speed on the road, hope the sensors will all calibrate and work together as all 4 wheels rotate, worst case, they won't clear, but you get the full picture of the cars condition. An MOT may show bigger issues making it a parts car, or give it a mostly clean bill of health and put some wind in your sails to push on with the ABS/TC lights knowing its a solid car once done. You should get a free retest so if you fix all the issues they flag, no real financial loss. Loving the content, the editing seems to be getting better each week, this little Swift will be all the sweeter when its finished after playing hard get.

    The reason you're getting no speed while jacked up is because there's speed sensors on all 4 wheels and they all need to be turning.
    And because you still have the hand brake up..
    Drive it up and down the driveway and speedo should work again.

    It could be the sensors are you fitting none genuine aftermarket it may not like them. Hope you get it sorted mate and keep up the good work .

  • @aaronalp2639

    So the ABS and the ESP in swift sports are all connected to the ABS Module and also the clock spring also in which steering angle sensors and I believe the speedo are all intertwined with. They can store hard faults that nothing seems to clear. Suzuki say if you drive it for a certain time then it resets. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t. Any fault stored in the system will cause an issue like you’re having.
    Mechanically they’re simple cars to work on. The electric systems in them can be an utter nightmare though especially esp/abs related issues

    Don't quote me,but as far as I'm aware,to make the abs module think the car is driving,all 4 wheels have to turn in sync.we had a Renault espace with abs issues,we did live readings for each corner,and narrowed it down to osf corner.we then had a garage press a new bearing in (which didn't have the magnetic strip inside) so still no reading.we bought a press,got the correct bearing and rebuilt.the codes all cleared as yours did,but after so many ignition cycles,the light came back on the dash.the only thing left to do was clear the codes and drive the car,which turned out fine.hope this helps.

    Welcome to a day in a life of a mechanic
    It’s an electrical problem you need to get a multimeter and a wiring schematic and load test everything and check for continuity. You’ll just waste more money swapping parts.
    And you need to drive the car to get it to fault once you’ve cleared codes otherwise you’re going to get your hopes up every time.
    It’s always going to be annoying diagnosing faults on cars your not familiar with jobs like this will be annoying until you get more experience

    Based on your issues and you getting no reading at all from the ABS sensors, I’d try and remove the ECU and see if it has any water damage. Typically if this was the case, you might not be able to communicate with the ABS module with your scanner, which you are able to do, but you never know. So worth a shot.
    The other thing I’d check for is physical damage to the ABS sensor harness. So the wiring that comes through the chassis of the car and connects to the ABS sensor itself. You can do a few tests with a multimeter as well on the harness, not sure if you’ve done that already.
    I don’t think it was ever going to be the reluctor ring on the bearing because typically when that’s damaged, you’d get mixed signals from the sensor and you’d have values that jump all over the place. Whereas you had no values.
    The fact that you have no reading at all, indicates that it is as if you didn’t even have the ABS sensors connected, leading to a wiring issue. Which are the worst to diagnose.
    The other thing to check is whether the ABS sensor is catching the reluctor ring. You’d see score marks on the sensor. If this is the case, you can use washers to space out the sensor but it’s very rare that this needs doing.
    One last thing is, make sure when you’re put the sensor back in, that the sensor is flush on the hub by cleaning the mating face as much as possible. Also try and see where the sensor has sat originally by looking at the mark left by the sensor originally and place it in that position before bolting it down. My BMW was exactly this temperamental. Basically when the ABS sensor was put in at an ever so slightly different angle, just by a millimetre or less and it wasn’t playing ball. Good luck!

    Hi Jesse the abs system has to register all 4 wheels turning at the same time over 7kph and the reason your having trouble clearing your faults is because you start the car to clear all was clear faults with engine off and ignition on hope this helps and don't give up so easily a message away for advice 👍

  • @Kylep13
    @Kylep13 4 месяца назад

    Probably already been answered, but whilst your still connected and in the abs system the warning lights won’t go off, until you come out the system the car still thinks it’s in diagnostic mode, hence why the lights flashed on when the scanner was doing a fault code check, also your best clearing codes with ignition on and engine off, some manufacturers don’t like clearing faults with engine running, as for the abs fault, the car needs to see all 4 wheels spinning, ideally you need to take it for a drive with live data and see if all 4 wheels are picking up a speed, could a be a cheap bad sensor causing the fault 👌🏻

    Always put plus gas heat and spray bolts with plus gas before trying to remove them.6 sided sockets are a must soo and loosen then tighten and work it out slowly.Sometimes it snaps anyway but this gives you a chance.

  • @PandaMobileMechanic
    @PandaMobileMechanic 4 месяца назад

    You will still get the lights on the dash even if you have fixed the faults like the abs sensors until you clear the error codes from ecu otherwise the ecu still thinks there is an issue. You have accessed the ABS/EPS module and historic codes still existed, so as far as the ecu is concerned the faults are still present so the lights are still on, you cleared the codes and so you are telling the ecu you have fixed the faults. Down the line if any abs/esp issues occur again the relevant lights on the dash will come back on, if all is good, they will stay off. This applies for the other modules on the vehicles as well.

    You need to drive the car for the abs to recalibrate. Did you actually remove the plug from the cluster and plug it back in or just give it a wiggle?

    I think you need all wheels on the ground, for a speedo to work, take it for a drive around the block at night to see if the Speedo works

    You sure itsnt ABS modules failed? It’s odd my fiesta managed to blew all abs fuse as abs module completed collapsed cause abs fault and non functional speedo but I wasn’t sure if it affect fault code. Maybe you didn’t give her proper drive to register speed like coupe of minute.

    Its not been the worst purchase, you are doing what we call in the trade 'Parts Darts' and hoping it fixes the issue. Its called learning and it may help googling the fault code to get some ideas and doing some more in depth diagnosis rather then guessing and wasting money on parts you may not have needed.
    Take it as a learning curve and push on from here.
