Dare I say it...... this channel feels like a UK MCM, bloody brilliant content lads your doing a great job. Edit glad some of you guys agree obligatory ' thanks for the likes' lol
@@g.w.customcreations3534 So much better than my suggestion, though it doesn't capture the fact that MCM are achingly cool guys, and these two... not so much!
I wouldn't go as far as saying better than auto alex but maybe on par... Car throttle held all these guys back. Just nice to see everyone slowly getting back together. Ive unsubscribed from Car Throttle now as they've lost everything thats made them good👍
I have on of these in the states and I have some tips for you. 1 I am 6' 2'' so you have a few inches on me and a quick release hub for the steering wheel was life changing for me. So much eassier to get in and out. 2 There are 2 center jack points at the front and rear of the car so you can jack up both fronts or both rears. 3 see if you can get the spare tire bracket for under the hood because it acts as a duct for your radiator. Good purchase and I'm glad more people are learning about these over the past few years. Also excited to see what tires you get because I can't even get 14s here.
You can see the raw enjoyment and passion all over your face. It didn't seem to be there at the old channel. Really pleased you've found your home. Great video ❤
You guys have totally nailed how to produce good content. Love the fact you see things through and not just start projects that get left forever and a day.
The brake light sounded awesome. I’m already loving this channel. Some have to find their feet before they get worth watching but you guys are knocking it out of the park from the first video. Amazing work.
I've always loved the Honda Beat, its much easier to have fun in a small car with enough power than it is to have fun in a big car that has too much. When that small car is a purpose built sports car with almost no mass the fun level just increases, its a big part of why cars like the original mini, the MX-5 or Lotus Elise were so successful. With the Beat a normal country road becomes a race track where you can take the correct line through each corner and feel like you are doing 100mph all while staying in the correct lane and being under the speed limit. It may not be fast but it sure is fun 😄I can very much relate to the enthusiasm in this video.
Really old and bad maintained cars do feel the same. My first car was Zaz 986m (4cylinder v4 Aircooled rear engine 50hp) that baddie came up to 140 one Time and was extreme loud. Still have it - but not ready for the road.
11:59 - I can really appreciate this sort of bang-up job because it really speaks to me personally. lmao and with a little dirt on it from a drive or two, you won't even really notice. cars are meant to be driven, not kept pristine in a garage unused and unloved.
the beat is really cool, and so is the cappuccino. but nothing beats the A in the ABC cars, the autozam AZ1. congrats to your new ride, I hope you'll love it down the road. I really understand the happy feeling you're having cause I also bought my absolute dream car a couple years ago and it is also a weird car but for other reasons than being small. mine is the only actual sports car Volvo ever made but as the wagon variant. the Volvo 1800ES. I love that thing to bits and I hope you'll love your ride just as much.
Absolutely Legends, I'm so glad you've joined forces to bring a fantastic channel together. I love car stuff, and the hint in humour makes me laugh so much,I can see you have so much fun doing this!!! Keep them coming, you work so well together.
I'm 6' 3" and fascinated by small vehicles. My dream car used to be a Caterham, until I was offered a drive at an Autocross meet and realized my shins are too long! Now it's a Beat, followed closely by the last gen Smart Fortwo Cabriolet. Based on Mercedes/Smart parts and service in Canada, a Beat is ~1000x more practical.
I bought one of these new in 1992 - red like this one. Hilarious little car - you will have noticed the passenger seat is 2/3rds the width of the driver's seat! Had a speed limiter on it which cut out one cylinder at 81mph - I never noticed but my wife did when she drove it.... Little black box bypassed that. The speedo is in kph but 100 kph feels like 100mph. The engine noise was fantastic. First day I took it to work a van hit it from behind! (clearly a common fault!) Required a new bumper from Japan. Kept it for a few years bur eventually traded it in -- for a V6 Camry estate! (we bought two dogs - they don't fit in a Beat! I did get a luggage rack for the 'boot' lid - could fit a small suitcase in it. Helpful hint - always undo the clip on the hood at the back of the doors or it snaps off. They just unscrew so are easy to replace but again come from Japan. I don't know if yours has this but the radio cassette has a volume control so it turns up the volume automatically as the engine noise increases. Shame they never brought them here - they were apparently popular in Cyprus!!
That's not how the whole thing works. In Japan, you can only own a full size car if you have a garage to park it, otherwise no dealer can sell it to you. Kei cars exist as a solution to people who need a car but have no place to store it.
Loved the video and the big smiles when you drove it! I too wanted a Beat from the first time I saw one Road & Track magazine back in 1991. It wasn't legal to bring the cars into the US until they were 25 years old. I waited 27 years for mine and love it!
I think there were more smiles per mile in this video than just about any other auto video I've watched. And when it comes down to it, that is what all car enthusiasts are looking for.
Paint the Beat to match the Benetton wheel. Can do it similar to VW harlequin with painted panels, like drivers door and wing along with front bumper painted yellow, passengers door and wing with bonner painted green, leave the sills, rear quarters, boot and rear bumper painted red.
I’ve been in one of these out here in Canada… it’s fun, but very scary in traffic. It’s so low you’re looking at the wheel level of other normal sized cars, and people merge into you because they can’t see you due to the fact you are literally below their lower window line and no one thinks to look down 😓
You can tell by Edwin's smile, he really likes is new salvaged Honda Beat. I can't believe someone would actually buy a green/yellow/red steering wheel. What's worse is Edwin actually installed it on his Beat!
Love a Kei car. Would love an Autozam. I've got a Smart Brabus which isn't Kei but same diminutive size. Makes you feel connected to the road. The joy on Edwin's face says it all.
I love these little Kei Cars. Ok it needs work being Cat-N and it has some rust issues that need addressing but what a fun little project it's going to be.
had a red beat 20 years ago exactly that spec and genuinely had to doublecheck the number plate incase you bought my old Beat.
