I got my car from a place in Bradford and I'd describe the experience as pretty positive. That said, there was another dealer round the corner who, it was rumoured, dealt in a lot of stolen cars...
Having lived in Birmingham in the past, the problem and reason why there are so many negative reviews for car purchases in the area, is partially due to the fact that its full of here today gone next week car supermarket type garages (or car supermarket garages that sell you a dodgy car one week and then when you go back, you find they've changed the name and signage slightly and are telling you its now a totally different company even though the staff are the same - I experienced this a few times). Buying private sale in Birmingham probably isn't that much worse than buying elsewhere.

They change the company name so often because they sell dodgy cars. The customers complain but never get their money back so they take them to court and win. The owners don’t wanna pay the debt so they just dissolve the business and open a new one and the same place to avoid paying. They’re usually selling dodgy cars at higher prices because they’re actually just fronts for money laundering
I've lived in Birmingham and the West Midlands my entire life. And my current car is from a used dealer in Birmingham called West Heath Motors. They're an old fashioned family firm dating back to the 1960s, honest as the day is long. But it's true what you say about the dodgy garages, there's loads of them. You find them all in the three mile radius around the city centre.

Ironically, the most reliable used car that I’ve bought was my old 330i bought from a chap in Birmingham. Anything from Keighley is a massive no no though…. I typically skip any car that has wind deflectors and even faster if the front seats are reclined to a silly angle. 😂
My dad got an '04 L322 last year for 2 grand I was dreading the MOT results; surprisingly only needed a new balljoint and control arm, pleasantly surprised until it took me TWO DAYS of heating and beating, grinding and cursing to get the bloody rusted-in things out. Still, it's fixed now. One common issue is all the electronics for the radio, sat nav and amps are in the boot, right near a common water ingress point, causes a ton of electrical issues when this gets wet and involves tearing the whole lot out and replacing it with a sensible aftermarket headunit. Problem solved.

Well, I once bought a secondhand Volvo privately from Balsall Heath - and it had loads and loads of history, had been well maintained, and the seller was a genuinely nice guy. The car, which was bought as a beater, gave me good service for a couple of years - and I would have kept it, but had no need for it in the end and…….I couldn’t sell it! So sadly it was scrapped.
I think this raises the point that it really depends on the car you're buying from birmingham. A volvo estate has not been driven about by some tosser with a stud earring and neck tattoo compared to a bmw 1 series etc.
Fun thing about that old Buick barge, it came with a factory heavy duty towing package that was unique to the buick, unlike its Chevy Caprice, and Oldsmobile Vista cruiser siblings. They were rated to tow between 5-6,000 lbs. And with it's Dyna-ride rear air ride, it would self level.

I visited the museum a few times, and also visited the jaguar land rover gaydon centre on a school trip, good memories even with tough upbringing, thank you tdc, glad you made it back safely. loving the channel.
B’Luton, Bradford, Burnley, Bolton, Birmingham. Basically anywhere that begins with the letter B
B’Leicester
B'Manchester too.
Brussels, Bahamas, Belarus, Barbados,...
B’Rochdale
Blackburn
Good stuff loving the videos. Would love to see a video of Edwin showing all his cars and their various states of disrepair
This feels like going out on an adventure with your mates to do something you have no earthly interest in, but it's your mates, so of course you'll have fun 😊
Was soooooo sad to see you guys leave your previous channels. Now I’m loving you two as a team
Good choice to start your own channel. Love it.
19:54 Call your L322 'Brum' because a) hes from birmingham and b) bit of british motoring/media historical significance
This conglomerate of RUclips channels, when they don't buy a BMW, they buy a Land Rover, I know that both brands are perfect for RUclips, since the cars look good and are always breaking down, but a little variety would be nice.
This is why I got bored with the old channel. They are just doing the same thing.
Yeah, but they know a specialist who can help fix it and they stated it was for filming and towing. There aren't many better choices for 5k.
yeah i agree, i feel like this will be like alexs channel really. had plenty other options, VW Touareg, Audi Q5 Q7, Toyota Landcruiser, Mitsubishi Pajero.
@@JP_A3 Considering their limitations of 10 miles within Birmingham and a £5k budget, I don't think they would have had that many options.
I agree, but really, I don't care... I just want to watch some guys buy shit cars and have good banter.
turns out, the spirit of CT lives on, and it turns out that Edwin was more of a driving force than I first assumed. This is quality work lads, loving the absolutely flying start you've had to the channel. well deserved.
Reminds me of that movie with Brad Pitt , SNATCH, when he rolls up to the caravan park that is populated by "travelers"...
Amazing Movie that was!
D'yawannabuyadag?
@@crazycjk "D'yalikedags?" more like.
Already 150k subscribers! You guys are smashing it, keep the greatness going!
Even before I started the video I thought Birmingham.
Driving through it is like being on the bumper cars at the fair. Everyone drives using The Force. - At Eleventy miles per hour. It's like the Wild West.
😂😂😂🤏🏻
Small heath is the worst cars with missing panels dents smashed windows burnt out shells and the standard of driving Jesus christ I've never been so angry
@@rkl233 Small Heath is a toilet!! It's been like a third world country as long as I can remember.
Did the thumbnail not give it away?
So far you are one of the few car channels that keeps my attention and I watch the whole video without skipping around. Proper good stuff mates!
Never buy a car from Bradford, Burnley, Blackburn, Birmingham, Halifax, Dewsbury, High Wycombe and yes, they all have a common denominator
Or Luton!!
All toyotas ? 😂😂
Yep, they sell all their crap they have raced around.
I bought a 3 yr old mondeo from a backstreet in Liverpool when I was a naive 22 year old. Wasn’t my finest moment.
2 areas I would never buy a vehicle from. Kent and London.
Over priced.
Ha! I was at the British Motor Museum on Saturday, we had to go home early so were going to come back to look in the building you've shown. Didn't realise it had so many cars in, now I'm excited.
the emblem on the back is The Free French naval jack and French naval honour jack.
The argent rhomboid field is defaced with a gules Lorraine cross, the emblem of the Free French.
That low speed judder… mine had the same! Flush and refill the transfer box oil 👍🏻 fixed it for me
Love the content keep it up! I'm always looking forward to an upload.
That’s what she said.
Great humour guys keep it up! Wheels look to me to be from a Range Rover Sport, the interior has lasted exceptionally. We have two of these at work for towing boats, they just keep going & going
I'm not from anywhere near the UK and even my first guess was Birmingham
anywhere theres a lot of "Them" it becomes a slum in rapid fashion.
The whole countries a slum and still think there Great Britain with there ridiculous government and so called democracy
@@bigduphusaj162 Are you scared to say Muslims? 😂
Rear parking sensors will almost definitely be the wiring loom in the bumper, gets brittle and cracks, bit of solder and shrink tube, jobs a goodun.
I once brought a mk4 golf gti from birmingham, the car was completely fine, very good condition, the guy covered my bus fare there, picked me up from the station. wouldn't say its a bad place to buy from
you guys are absolutely hilarious together, and just make me warm and fuzzy. Keep it up, great content!
Take it back, get the Phaeton 😂
bought a car in Walsall which was plagued with problems, head gasket gone, coolant pipes split, hidden rust. Guy wouldn’t have it until i got my Uncle (police officer) involved. Few days later i had all the money back in my account and that god forsaken car was gone out of my life
Well, I once bought a secondhand Volvo privately from Balsall Heath - and it had loads and loads of history, had been well maintained, and the seller was a genuinely nice guy. The car, which was bought as a beater, gave me good service for a couple of years - and I would have kept it, but had no need for it in the end and…….I couldn’t sell it! So sadly it was scrapped.
I think this raises the point that it really depends on the car you're buying from birmingham. A volvo estate has not been driven about by some tosser with a stud earring and neck tattoo compared to a bmw 1 series etc.
or who some psslmst thg@@qlus
Fun thing about that old Buick barge, it came with a factory heavy duty towing package that was unique to the buick, unlike its Chevy Caprice, and Oldsmobile Vista cruiser siblings. They were rated to tow between 5-6,000 lbs. And with it's Dyna-ride rear air ride, it would self level.
If Dudley is "in Birmingham", Watford is "in London".
Mind you, it is really, so fair enough...........
Dudley is the Black Country
Absolutely awesome stuff, enjoying the chemistry and editing/filming. Please keep it coming.
As a Brummie, yes buying a car from Birmingham isn't the best, especially having known lots of dealers having worked at BCA but I have to correct you on one thing, Dudley is not part of Birmingham
You guys are rocking the media thing. No corporate overlords makes a great video. Well done
As a fan from Birmingham and whose mother is from Bradford after this video idk how i can defend my cities anymore but dammit I'll sink with them, a captain doesn't abandon their ship lol
that name of yours mate hmmm see some of us have opinions on certain ones being the problem and these certain ones have certain names.
@@bigduphusaj162 😅 if you're going to have prejudices at least say it with your chest
The Buick Roadmaster would be fun for a separate video. Especially with the engine options that are V8's that range from 5.0L to 5.7L.
Wouldn't buy a car from London, Birmingham, Bradford, Luton. Glasgow.
Our Milwaukee Wisconsin USA is your Birmingham. Bought 2 cars from the greater MKE area and both were terrible. Many others I’ve looked at are either in terrible shape, stolen, or no paperwork.
i just did a car vertical report a few ours ago with your discount, thanks for the discount code.
Great ep, fellas! Fast pace, full of info and engagement. You lads will shine if you keep this up.
Looking forward to challenges against the Auto Alex crew! 🙌
I'm from Sutton Coldfield and have never bought a used car from Birmingham, go Staffordshire or Warwickshire. There is a common theme with all the cities/towns mentioned in the comments but can't be mentioned on YT.
Ive never made the connection i hope you mean before. But i feel like it makes some sense😂
That’s why it’s text only so you can’t figure it out. I always insist on a call before I drive to view a car.
@@null-gyes as soon as you hear the accent down the phone goes 😅
Yeah because cars from Liverpool or Glasgow are any better
Not even in Streetly?
Amazing content guys ❤really really loving the content as to have it on a Friday night after a long day at work, even better 🎉
another smashing video, hope to see more of yall soon, the internet needs this kind of show/humor
THAT BUICK THOUGH ❤
It’s complete junk, American garbage, honestly!
Yes!!! This! 🤩
absolutely loving the channel guys, cant wait for more
Ever notice that all the worse places to buy a car from in the UK have something certain in common

We have a similar area in Quebec like Birmingham. Almost every car for sale is what you call a category D.
This channel is lovely.
Fresh and distinctly different. I like autoalex.
But, lots of channel are blokey.
I like the enthusiasm you guys have.
Keep doing your thing and stay a bit different
Wonderful start to a channel. Clearly going to be big
Best
I'm just happy these guys can do whatever they want on their channel....
I hate to say it, thats a bloody good Range Rover for the money
16:06 the twisted seatbelt is literally having my life 🤣🤣 This is even worse than buying a car from Birmingham..... Gip! 😂
4 videos in and already messed up the schedule lol
This is actually a really good video idea, quite intuitive. Please do more of these types of videos.
That sticker on the number plate is one of the flags from the "Free French Resistance", flown by anti-facist ships that served in WW2.
I know nothing of this, just did a quick picture search on google, and thought you may want to know!
Top man
I like this channel! Its like Auto Alex but without all the screaaming ❤
Sutton Coldfield does not count at Birmingham. Its like saying Balsall Common is Coventry and i'm from Balsall Common. Lived in Coventry and Worked in Birmingham.
I almost worked in Birmingham, lived in Kenilworth and worked in Coventry and Balsall Common. Mind you that was 1983 - not sure I'd want to work in Coventry nowadays.
@@hunchanchoc8418 definitely not 😂
Meh, pretty much is though. Under Birmingham council, 0121 phone code, B postcode. Included in all Birmingham in all maps and was merged part of Birmingham in 1974. Balsall Common comes under Solihull so totally different.
Instant like, you were my favorite from car throttle and overdrive
Dudley is closer to Wolverhampton than Birmingham.
still dodgy af
Both are still in Birmingham. 😂
But there still backwards like brum lot
@@iainfreeman5112 Wolverhampton isn't part of Birmingham. It is a city next to Birmingham.
@@Falney Wolverhampton is literally the worst place I have ever been. It doesn’t deserve to be a city & only became one in 2000.
Still in outer Birmingham though.
my dads focus is from Birmingham and it actually is the best car my dads brought (BL17), he did buy it in Peterborough he is the 2nd owner but i looked it up and it came up from there and it feels like a brand new car
dodgy city it is lol
Magnificent city... You shall never go there... Like to Luton
anywhere theres a lot of Them the place turns into a slum. Thats obvious now and its alarming how rapid they turn anywhere they go into a slum.
I was sad when the Overdrive channel died, but these videos are filling that gap perfectly. Great work lads!
When is next video
I got a E60 320d from Birmingham, had it for about 4 days and noticed problems like if you locked the door with the engine on the windows opened and it developed another few problems. Went to go back to the garage and it had shut up shop😂😂 was out about 4.5k.
