Imane means belief in arabic, such a beautiful name. This is a similar in arabic it is Amany which mean beliefs as plural. I have two aunts with these two names.
Arabic name, means faith/belief. It’s popular with people from former French colonies, mainly in the north of Africa. Think countries like Morocco, Algeria etc. I bet she hails from that part of the world in some way, has features to point in that direction too.
The correct pronunciation for the "ke" in pokemon is "keh" (I don't think english has the "e" sound in japanese, so that is the closest way to pronounce it)
Honestly, it’s probably better from a branding perspective anyway. If you hear someone mention her, you know that they’re talking about the streamer without them clarifying. Plus I wouldn’t be surprised if there were other streamers with names that sound exactly like Pokemon but are just spelled slightly differently, so with poki’s “mayn” pronunciation, it’s more unique and identifiable in that aspect as well.
I understand the intended way of her name. I think it's cool, but also now adays I feel like her stream name has just become poki-main and its what people who watch call her too so, nice little pronunciation drift
