I really like how they didn't force on you narrative and cut scenes. It was engaging even if it was quite brutal for an ending.

yeah, that ending it clear the emperor was a tyrant, and you like his contingency plan, if he can't rule his empire no one can, scorched earth

My headcanon is that the sounds and such in space are made by speakers in the ships for the same reason light switches click
And if you dont know about the light switches thing look it up quick it is rather entertaining to me

Shipbreaker explicitly includes sound synthesizers as an upgrade, though it arguably makes less sense in the context of spaceship battles.

@@justinthompson6364 I'm not sure about that. An advanced computer could likely keep track of the battlefield around you, and many sfx would keep you informed of the battle just as well in real life as they do in a video game. Hearing an explosion behind you from stereo speakers would help inform you that something blew up behind you, rather than, say, the ship you are currently shooting at. Hearing your guns fire or engines roar would keep you aware of the systems status; I'm pretty sure it'd be a good sign of something being wrong if you pull the trigger and... silence from the usual staccato. Stuff like this can often be more effective from an alert or alarm, because multiple might be going off during an intense moment, and the human brain isn't great at distinguishing different alarms when focused on something else. It's actually a real issue with airplane pilots, and has caused (or at least, didn't help) crashes in the past.
      tl;dr
Space orks can use boom boom noise to fight gooder.

@27:24 There were/are mods for Wing Commander that turned it into Homeworld! Was some of the coolest space battles I've played - Vaygr vs Hiigaran frigates and fighters all over the place. Will comment again if I find the link

If you enjoy this you should totally try Freespace 1 and 2. It is kind of old now but it was amazing for its time.

this game is a modern classic IMO. everyone owes it to themselves to at least try it. some of the cleverest and most carefully-executed mechanical design i've seen in any action game, and it's right up there with Hyper Light Drifter, Morrowind etc in terms of tasteful aesthetics and worldbuilding

@@Demicleas I thought the same but then that make no sense considering his homeworld has been scorched and all soldiers loyal to him are dead. Can’t exactly be an emperor without an empire to rule nor without an army to conquer.
