Your comment suggests you think this was viewed by millions when it was broadcast. It looks like it was aired on a Canadian public broadcast station. Maybe viewed by dozens or hundreds of people at best. You have RUclips which allows you to watch a shitty Canadian broadcast 30 years later. Be happy you dumb fuck
@@mikecantreed but no I I was just suggesting that I wish I grew up listening to this instead of mumble rap, and that this type of music reaches your soul. I hope u have a shitty day lil guy🙏🏼
Not to take away anything from Derek Trucks but he is or was a child prodigy when this was filmed and that is what these people do. They blow you away with awesome talent like this. I love playing slide and it was mainly Allman and Trucks that got me into it. I recently started playing again and I started using the slide only about 3 months ago and I still could not come close to what he did as a kid.
Yeah, I get the feeling that Derek could have wrote the musical arrangements, especially that bit at 1:44 ... He's a disciplined player, great ear for what the other members are doing, knew when not to play. I had to pause the video to count how many guitar players on the stage ... nobody overplays each other. A highly polished performance indeed.
It didn't hurt to be the nephew of Butch Trucks and surrounded by generationally great guitarists and other musicians in the Allman Brothers. Pair that with his natural abilities and you get Derek Trucks.
He was already great at that age ! what can you say ? he's doing what he was put on this earth for apparently....blew me away this did.
Me too 😳❤️
totally amazing . Its like he was born to play that slide guitar
He started playing at 9 and in 2 years he was doing this. 😅 im never playing guitar again
I've said it before, I say it again, Duane Allman reincarnated
Hard to say which is more amazing - derek’s precocious playing or that guy’s preposterous mullet
Derek's rocking both
When was DT NOT great?
The mullet hands Down!
The mullet hands Down!
The mullet hands Down!
I was playing a different slide at 11. And I was bad at it.
I remember those days, the slide was covered in tree sap (probably due to lack of use).
I hear people talk about Duane, Allman and Ry Cooder. However, Derek is the best slide guitar player ever.
@lucasjames572
And he was 11 here. He s worlds better even today.
Born to be a new member of the Allman Brothers Band
My good friend Ronnie Baker introduced me to this young powerhouse in 1993. I have been following Derick's career since then.
The fabulous Chris Merrell vocals R.I.P.
Amazing slide playing at such a young age. As a montrealer, I find it cool that we wears a Montreal Canadiens cap.
About that age, I saw him open, and play with Buddy Guy at the Old Tampa Theater. cool old venue.
I believe I saw him in Ft. Lauderdale at Cheers before this. Was with The Butch Trucks Band.. was awesome!.
Jesus that tone is disgusting! So good!
No cursing, please
Awesome slide playing!
Shame about the awful camera work.
Was this at Much Music?
they must have hired a college art student or something, hes spinning the camera and doing effects. its like a nickelodeon show
Fn idiot making me dizzy with crap.. killer tune tho..
Holy Grail of GUITAR SLIDE
His technique on the slide just can't be taught. Blows my mind watching this kid play flawlessly, effortlessly, masterfully.
*edit: spelling is hard*
He was wailin' at 11!
An old soul. And I don't believe in reincarnation. (Derek would be my #1 argument in favor of it, if I had to play devil's advocate.)
Derek is great but we need to get the cameraman off the heavy drugs.😮🎉
It was the early 90’s 🤷♂️
@@andrewjohnson2553
so…
I guess it’s too late for him.😉🤪🙀
Brilliant kid!
Man I was born in the wrong generation, wish I could have grown up listening to this. Life would been so much easier
Be happy you got to hear it in your lifetime

Everybody
Awesome
When the cameraman wants to be the star. 🙄 It was the 80s.
Super guitariste, mais on ne peut pas en dire autant de celui qui filme...
💗 💖 💘 💝 💟 ☮️!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone know who the drummer was in this video?
Even at a young age Derek didn't show much facial emotion
La Grange
10 year old kid is the leader of the Band 😂😂

THis is just crazy. How can someone be this good both technically and improvisationally at this age?
And he started at 9... so 2 years earlier from this. INSANE

Derek and Dominoes?
Wow holy shit
What tuning does Derek Trucks play in? Can't be standard tuning surely?
Usually open E
yikes!!!
He can do all this at that age but mfer prolly can’t even tie his own shoes
This is pretty good. The Sesame Street sounding lyrics make it cornier than it needed to be, but Derek was well on his way to greatness at this point.
