Waves of full body chills starting at 6:20... Every. Damn. Time.
I come back to and watch this every couple weeks. It is a spectacular arrangement... every one truly plays an important role. But Derek obviously steals the show...
Captured within: the pureness of man and guitar. Mind, body, and soul. God and music. If you can not feel Derek's spirit listening to this, you may not be fully awakened to the fleeting beauty and explicit trueness resonating amongst life's buzz. It surrounds you even now. A performance like this simply helps you feel it. Slow down, plug in, and let go. 🙏🏻❤️‍🔥

He is known as a great slide player, which he is, but when he puts the slide down you realize just how terrific he is. This song is just one example. I played the Layla album so much when it came out that even a quarter taped to the tone arm wouldn't keep the needle from skipping.

If anyone tells you there is a better guitarist than Derek on the planet - working in this genre - don't believe them. Great feel, flawless technique, and a beautiful tone as well. His slide playing is simply the icing on the cake. As exciting as Hendrix, as expressive as a young Peter Green - he really is a marvel.

I think Derek is playing his best in 2022! Dude has been rippin on stage and has played several unbelievable solos in the past year. My favorite is when he sat in with Dave Matthews Band, that’s one of the best solos you will ever see! The DMB just sat back and allowed him to shine, nobody else on stage dared to step in and play their own solo after Trucks killed it. They just let him keep playing all the way thru to the end. 🤯😳

Jeez. If the hairs on the back of the neck aren’t up as that solo crescendos, go find yourself a mirror, place it over your mouth and breath! First introduction to Derek Trucks was in early 2007 when he toured in Clapton’s band with Doyle Bramhall II. Without the impetus to push himself, Slowhand tends to coast along in second gear. However, with the help of a then-27-year-old Trucks and an almost otherworldly Bramhall II, the band tore through six or seven tracks from LAOALS that night, showcasing Trucks' exceptional talent, while bringing out the best in Clapton.

This is more than just about tone and technique etc,...Derek is inside the story of the song. The music is pouring out. And just to note, he stays perfectly in time even when he switches and reaches into his (pocket?) and puts the slide on. And just listen to the first slide on the bass string...my lord, he is cutting through into the feel of this songs. Its like he's the only guitarist who can play the Layla album except of course EC. And it makes sense. Derek is part of that amazing blood line. Its amazing. I am in awe and can't wait to see them on Sunday.

If there is a God, if there is a Savior, and if it was Jesus, He/She/It/They all know the REAL WORLD is a little too complicated for that. I knew that at age . . . 4? "What about the people who never heard of Jesus? What about the kids being taught THEIR religion is the REAL religion?" Why do we believe in a magic MAN in the sky anyway? Surely God isn't really male -- that would be ludicrous on the surface. I like this, even though it still presupposes a Magic Being -- but don't get me wrong, I understand wanting to "be held" when life is so damn tough. “God is decidedly nonbinary and transcends restrictive gender confines, and that's really good news because it means that we can discover the character of that God in every human being we encounter without exception.
It’s intellectually dishonest to say that all human beings are image-bearers of the Divine and created in God’s likeness-and yet insist that that creator is a dude.
God has to transcend gender and that’s a beautiful idea to settle into, because the scope and capacity of our love grows exponentially as a result.
We become more liberal in our sharing of that love and less apt to withhold affection or compassion to anyone, because we recognize they are all equally fashioned by the same Maker we are.
We don’t need to believe that “He” has the whole world in “His” hands.
We just need to trust that we are held.”

I believe Derick has truly past Duane as an all around player. Best slide player today.

Never forget Bobby Whitlock was the catalyst behind the formation of the Dominoes, also cowriting all of their songs

The vocals on the D& the dominos Layla album were so damn good. Clapton’s singing too was as soulful as he had ever done. But Whitlock’s vocals really stood out while playing with Allman and Clapton. He was awesome. I love this version too and Susan is my favourite singer and Derek one of my fav guitarist. Bobby Whitlock is still out there (I think) and it would be cool to hear him sing with TTB. I think he did a reunion thing with Clapton awhile back.

Amen ! Whitlock never got enough credit ! If not for his talent there would not be the ” Dominos “

@@nomadman123 , hi, buddy. Bobby is still kicking things down in Texas, as I understand. Still with his lady, CoCo. Here's the last collaboration with EC that BW did: ruclips.net/video/eHRpdRLPjIA/видео.html

@@MDLOP8 - fantastic! All the soul came out of the Delaney & Bonnie collection. I also used to have that Jools Holland show for about 4 seasons. They sure had an outstanding show with 4 or 4 great acts. Whitlock was blessed and it sounds like he still has the chops.
