Great video Courtney. Loved the shots, particularly the bracketed one on top of the hill. As for a word to describe the woodlands you were in with the chaotic feel. Maybe, “intertwined”. Looked like a beautiful day. Loved the shot of you sitting enjoying the view. Pretty chilled place. Thanks for sharing the video 👍🙏

Intertwined is a great word! It was a lovely day, we were actually due rain but the sun managed to dominate the afternoon instead, although it could be a great view to watch a rain storm roll by. Glad you like the bracketed shot, it wasn't the easiest image to take but I'm quite satisfied with the result. Thank you for watching! All the best.

Beautiful green countryside, and the images where just as good, I wish we had green roiling hills here in Queensland, but your countryside is a different beauty. Great video.

I love seeing the difference in countryside between countries. I did miss the green rolling hills and countryside while living abroad so I really enjoyed capturing them in this video. Thank you for watching!

You were right, that was a nice tree and it does sit well to the left in your frame. 'Shambolic' springs to mind fitting in well to the 'Harry Potter' reference. Lovely work!

Still catching up with your previous videos, and came across another location I know well. The problem I always find at Coaley, is Downham hill intersects badly with the hills beyond. I need to get a bit lower, but as you know, there's nowhere to stop the car down Frocester Hill!

Great video Courtney and a beautiful location. Love that green valley, Wonderful 16mm image at 2:58, I really like the way the grass turned out in the foreground. I'm also a sucker for pathway shots, so I really liked the one in the forest at 7:10. Thanks for a great video, really enjoyed it.

    • @CourtneyVictoria
      @CourtneyVictoria  3 года назад +2

I'm a sucker for pathway shots too, haha. The bright sunny conditions made the image at 2:58 a little tricky to take but it did give a nice golden light and glow to the landscape and specifically that grass in the foreground. I'm glad you like it. Thank you so much for watching, have a great weekend!

As always, I enjoy your discovery perspective. Just a thought: give up on controling nature (e.g. the branches/berries waving in the breeze) and find a path to work with her. You are as a speck of dust trying to control the wind. Good luck!

I've just discovered your videos this week. I really enjoy your presentation style, and the photos you take are amazing!
Regarding word choice, I quite like "chaotic." It's fitting. Here in Canada, we use the word "busy" for something that has complex or chaotic visual pattern. Do you use that in GB too?
Keeping on the topic of word choice, I've also heard (in a couple of your vids) you use "floor" when I think you mean "ground." Floors are human-made surfaces.
Anyway, just wanted to say thank you for all these wonderful videos. I'm subscribed and liking them as I go.
All the best and happy shooting!

The 50mm shot of the road 😍
When you were talking about the shot I immediately thought of that spot at blue hour with some lights from the cars. Kinda shows where my photography brain is right now 🤣
Great video and such a lovely place 🖖😊

As always great job! really like your photos, I have to admit I put almost no thought into my compositions, usually if it looks good for me I take the shot, sometimes it leads me to a better one with some thought but it's pretty rare I guess.
Today we went totally spontaneous with a friend to some national small park that neither of us been there and we weren't sure what to expect so I wasn't sure which lens to pack (which made me bring 3 lenses, 1 telephoto, 1 macro and my new favorite wide angle) in the end surprisingly, we used all of them! while suddenly we saw our airports air traffic control building and I remembered they built near the airport some leveled stage for spotters (people who take photos of airplanes) so we found the place and found ourselves taking photos and videos of few airplanes taking off while being jealous that people still fly during that damn pandemic lol.
Allow me a few words about the Tamron 100-400mm (judging by a canon version) it's a pretty light (compared to others) telephoto lens that can provide good photos but it won't give that sort of WOW effect in terms of colors or contrast from what I've seen, you still do that in post but it is what it is, I can only compare it with a Canon 100-400 which gives better results but it costs more and is heavier, I'm not familiar with what Nikon offers in those ranges but I guess you will do your checks ahead and can't wait to see what will be the results (WARNING! taking bird photos is addicting!)
while you do your checks, don't skip too fast the 150-600mm by Tamron, I've seen some amazing photos from that one though never tried it.
Sorry for such a long reply but hope I was at least a little bit helpful

Thank you so much. We all have different methods of doing photography, some people prefer to act on instinct and feeling and others like to be very logical with specific intent. I'm generally a mixture of both but I tend to try and think about what I'm doing to encourage myself to slow down and take my time. Your comment about the lens was helpful thank you! I actually ended up purchasing the 100-400 Tamron at a photography show (got a little discount haha). I did a fair bit of research and it seemed to come out as a decent lens, not as good as a few Nikon lenses I was looking at but I couldn't splash the cash for those ones haha. I've taken the lens out a couple of times so far just to check all was good with it but I look forward to getting stuck into some long range photography and maybe even bird and wildlife!
Funnily enough, now I've got the telephoto I was debating the other day whether I should be carrying 3 lenses out with me every time or deciding in advance which ones I would use. Just like with your trip to the national park, there may be some instances where all 3 will be useful!

@@CourtneyVictoria Enjoy your new lens, can't wait to see the results!
Don't forget 1 important thing about your Tamron, it might be not as good as some Nikon or Canon telephoto, but it is probably smaller and lighter which might make it end up more often in your bag and used more often! and that's important, our backs have their limits and sadly camera equipment don't (I mean they can get really heavy lol)

Nice selection of images Courtney. You will love the telephoto landscape shots when you pick one up I'm sure..... from a higher vewpoint and also in woodlands it will give you so many more options. I recently sold my Sigma 100-400 for the Panasonic as I needed to fund anothere purchase (camera) but I'll be aiming to put a longer lens back on my list when funds are right - possibly not as long as the 1-400, maybe 70-200. You have found yourself a great couple of viewpoints & woodland to explore the surroundings there and it will be good to see how the landscape changes with the seasons. atb Alan

What a pretty area! I really love the photo at 3:02. I really love the nice shallow depth of field and the intimate nature of the shot of berries on the trees. Also, I love the composition of the photos around the 5:27 and 5:31 and look forward to some autumn photos of the area! 🍂

Hey Courtney! Catching up on videos. This was fantastic! I have been on somewhat of a slump here lately since I have been back from my trip out west but your video has really inspired me to get out. I miss being out at a location feeling the wind and viewing the beauty of nature. Your photos were phenomenal and I really liked how you talked through your photos and narrated the video.

Jumbled. Sometimes the woods, with all the limbs, vines, exposed roots... all jumbled together... it's chaotic. See? Your word choice works just fine!

Hey, Im only new to this channel... but have you gone back and gotten that photo yet? With better sky? I hear so many photographers talk about scouting and coming back on another day with different conditions, but then I never hear of it being resolved. It would be interesting to see how that plays out.

"Jumbled" as an alternative to "Chaotic" though I see no problem with reusing a perfectly good word.
