I used to drive a limousine in the New Jersey/New York area and one of my passengers had a very sad experience. I picked her up at Newark, where she had just flown in on the Singapore nonstop 19 hour flight. On the way to her hotel she called back home and got the sad news that her mother had unexpectedly died. She called the airline, had me turn around and take her back to the airport, where she got right back on the same airplane and flew another 19 hours back home to Singapore. Now that was some long-haul flying.
That is so sad. I thought it was bad I spent 10 hours flying back home after Dad had his heart attack. Weren't going to do surgery for 6 weeks so once I knew he was stable I flew home. By the time I landed I got message from Dad they were flying him to another hospital for surgery. It was midnight. Got home booked a 7am flight and flew back. Still was another 2 weeks of waiting. Eventually flew home. Exhausted I booked a BC seat. Copped a screaming kid all the way home beside me. Dad survived.

I think the menu card in premium economy /economy class doesn't very useful, so they cut it. Because there are three options meals that you can get. You easily know what you want to eat.. Since the pandemic, many airlines try to cut unnecessary or not so important products or services, so they can survive. So it really makes sense that Singapore Airlines make some adjustments here and there to reduce the cost of operation. And most importantly is the Safety.. That's all for me.
I disagree. I personally love the menus, not just for aesthetics (although it helps). With such a long flight, you can kind of "plan" your meals in advance and select accordingly. My longest flight is LAX to SYD in Australia, about 15 hours. I have done it in premium economy and business. A HUGE difference. Business (obviously) was a much more comfortable flight, being able to lie flat and sleep like in a normal bed was awesome. When I arrived I felt no jet lag whatsoever, was ready to go.
@@SKS8080 Somtimes economy was the only ticket available. Glad you enjoyed our Singapore Airlines inflight service. Yeah I agree the award winning menu card or booklet is something greatly missed but it is due to covid19...the idea being whether one agrees or disagree is to minimise contact...anyways I also agree our snacks are sadly too minimal. In Singapore Changi Airport, it kinda makes sense for the Airport to confine transiting passengers, because in SIN arriving and departing passengers are not seperated (on the same floor) while at HKG you exit the aircraft below the departure level. Probably for the safe measure.
I transit through Singapore back in August. Had a layover of over 9 hrs. After seeing the horrible conditions of the waiting area and only 3 lounges are available to transit passengers, Emirates, Qatar, and Plaza premium in the waiting area. Can confirm Singapore now has a very poor transit arrangement and anyone transiting over night waiting for long hrs might as well book the ambassador airport hotel. I ended up paying for plaza premium lounge as they are doing a promotion now.
Im checking almost everyday in the radar if that flight is on air and i always wondered how it is flying for almost 19 hours . So , heres the answer i was looking for . Thank you for that upload!
I'm glad they separated the transiting passengers because one of my friends was an airport staff and was infected during the last covid cluster at that airport. Commendable for their effort in minimizing risk. Anyways, flying is a privilege for many people due to new borders closers and this new variant. Better be safe than sorry.
@@huaiwei ignore that troll, some people just want to let everyone know they are hurting and so they want to inflict their pain on my comment. I'm just sharing my own opinion anyway. Glad you had a wonderful experience flying on Singapore Airlines, being an employee at JFK airport, I have been inside the A350-900ULR cabin and other airlines’ aircraft. I’d say the cabin is pretty nice. But the premium economy on the A350-900ULR feels more like an economy plus not premium economy. Also I do see a few familiar faces when you arrived at JFK with the SQ JFK airport team.
I flew round trip EWR-SIN-BKK (SQ21-22) on premium economy 41C seat almost 3 years ago. I was fun experience. I will fly again JFK-SIN-BKK in business class to try with miles of course (sq23-24) next month. Can’t wait.
Precisely! Just because you didn't like the previous experience, doesn't mean that you can downgrade it by your own standards and then call it "regular economy".
Not sure saying a flight fails expectations on entertainment just because the inflight entertainment isn’t built into the plane is fair. All that hardware adds a-lot of weight to the aircraft driving up fuel costs and ticket costs. If you can get to all the movies and music via your own device that still means entertainment is offered.
Tbh I don't see the absence of paper menus as a problem, if you can access them via phone or IFE. The two hot meals look awesome, plus the last service also. The flight in itself does not feel so long indeed. Great report!
I really enjoyed this report! I think this is the first trip report, (Brutally Honest or regular), in which my home town of Toronto was mentioned TWICE!! You over flew it, and also mentioned a trip on Air France from Toronto to Paris! As much as I enjoy these reports, I trust you guys are being very cautious protecting yourselves from Covid. I would hate to hear that one of you contracted it. Please, for all your fans, stay safe!!
I took this flight, SA premium economy, for 19hours. It was much better than flying economy. But obviously not as good as flying business with the fully flat seat. The legroom was good and food was excellent!
A That's 14 years ago B you didn't mention the airline C you didn't mention what the "torture" was. Context is important. For reference I flew from LA to Hong Kong on Cathay, and it was a far better experience than *any domestic* (US based) airline to anywhere in any length. Even a short flight like LA to Phoenix just seems like a hassle. (For context; American to Barcelona was ok (ground service when returning was atrocious,) Air France, KLM, British Airways were very nice, Qatar was surprisingly underwhelming (most recent, but I was going to my fathers funeral so that might have colored my experience) Lufthansa was adequate. But anytime i've flown a domestic airline international, other than my one trip to Barcelona, i've been extremely disappointed.) Enough to where i'd drive/ ride my motorcycle once a month to Phoenix to go see mum, rather than fly.

Changi is no longer the world's best airport. In August 2021 Skytrax awarded Doha's Hamad International as the world's best airport, ending Changi's seven-year dominance. Changi was ranked third behind Tokyo Haneda...based on this review I can see why they dropped I will say, their safety vid ending in the Gardens by the Bay at 9:15 is a nice touch, it is definitely the most stunning part of the country
I disagree about the menus, yeah they're nice and all but if it means cutting use of paper then it's a good thing for both them and the environment Changi may claim they are the best airport all they want, but we all know the real world's best airport will always be Pyongyang-Sunan. I have spoken
Looks like a great flight! It's tough to tell from the video, but I would be a little disappointed if that was the premium economy legroom on a long haul flight. Many carriers are introducing larger seats with way more legroom on international premium economy. I don't mind the missing menu card with the virtual ones, and the snack selection is great for me. No need for designer snacks, just something substantial.
Air New Zealand used to have their Spacepod premium economy but they scrapped it sadly. Not everyone was a fan though; they had no legrests and passengers were given bean bags to plop their feet on 😳
Not sure what airline you’re referring to but SIA’s Premium Economy Seats are far the best from most European and US carriers and it’s very competitive amongst Asian and Middle East carriers. Even before discussing the service and added amenities, SIA also provides unlimited delectables on these flights in addition to book the cook option. Legroom is seat width is actually US domestic first class level. I’ve been on these flights a couple of times I can tell you, it’s far more comfortable than it shows.
@@thejuanderers2342 the unlimited delectables that you claimed are obvious what's shown on the video, low quality stuff that you will see on UA and AA long haul economy
@@rawasianchicago Yes, but an AA flight will pull away from the gate without those low quality stuff amenities, and not even think twice. @@simply_aviation Back in the late 90s and early 2000s, most airlines' first class was equivalent to today's business class, the only class offering a lie-flat seat, and business class was equivalent to today's premium economy, offering a large recliner seat. So there's not much reason to offer first class, other than as a front for the airline (like the Gulf carriers did)
Hmm I found Delta's PE to be pretty business minus but I guess that's in the eye of the beholder. Air NZ PE, that's the good stuff.
@@jakestolar8457 Agree. NZ premium economy is the best by a mile. Qantas PE is probably next best. 3rd place would go to Virgin; although I haven't tried Air France, ANA and Japan Airlines' PE cabins. They also look good. SQ and LH's PE cabins are a real let down. They very much lean towards economy plus.
@@simply_aviation We probably have come full circle where today's premium economy is equivalent to yesterday's business class & today's business class is equivalent to yesterday's 1st class
Took this flight years ago. Woke up in middle of the night and checked location. We were flying over Afghanistan. Went back to sleep.
I just bought a ticket for this flight in a few months and I really appreciate having this in depth review of what it's like. I've done my share of long flights but this is definitely something else so I'm glad to get an idea of what I'm in for. Thank you!
The jet lag must hit a person hard, from two sunsets, to what day, let alone what is the date
Greetings from Bogota - Colombia, excellent video and very clear, your comments are very clear. Thank you for posting it. It is a flight that one day I will do.
I love that he actually reviews economy. The class that we all fly
Always love the brutally honest videos and is nice to see it done on my home airline. Maybe would like to note that the 738s are temporary additions to the fleet as they are aiming for the MAX to re enter service and they will have IFEs installed and the hot towel service from what i read from articles will be back once the pandemic is stabilised. Thanks for the video though it was very nice!
Brutally honest review: great video. Like this format and style! 👌🏾
Hey there thanks so much for the honest review during COVID! Also thank you for using Singapore Airlines!
Were u cheap?
@@SKS8080 Somtimes economy was the only ticket available. Being a Status member on American Airlines Gave me the opportunity to upgrade to business for a very reasonable fee if any were available, and I always did. If there were business class then I had the premium economy seats, which were not too bad.
@@sdcoinshooter If you don't mind me asking, what type of ticket prices are we talking here ?
@@Vortex__24 This was all pre-Covid Vortex, so a while ago. If I remember correctly, Economy was around $1,200 round trip and a $450 charge for upgrade to business; well worth it in my opinion. I am Platinum Pro status on American, I honestly don’t know if it would be different without that rating.
Best simply aviation video ever!
Fantastic review David! 👍
Cuz u watched fresh of the boat I’ll like the video😊
I love your reports I always get excited when I see you have loaded a new report. Keep up the great work !
Nice aviation footage. The flight is ultra long.
Love your vids! Informative and detailed. Thanks man
Brutally enjoyable video, the sound and music is comfort for the ears.
I like the clear n crisp video 👍 Good info
Glad you enjoyed our Singapore Airlines inflight service. Yeah I agree the award winning menu card or booklet is something greatly missed but it is due to covid19...the idea being whether one agrees or disagree is to minimise contact...anyways I also agree our snacks are sadly too minimal. I would have tot some fruits would be great on a long haul flight...trust me if you have flown SQ in the 80s and 90s it is like first class lol...have a blessed holiday season and keep safe...cheers
One of the best reviews about Singapore Airlines I have ever seen. Excellent vlog. Thank you.
AWESOME VIDEO!!!! Looking forward boarding Singapore Airlines !!!!!
I got an Singapore Airlines ad before this video lol, anyways another great video, keep it up!
I love the Brutally Honest series, and all of your videos. Great job as always. Alles gut!
In Singapore Changi Airport, it kinda makes sense for the Airport to confine transiting passengers, because in SIN arriving and departing passengers are not seperated (on the same floor) while at HKG you exit the aircraft below the departure level. Probably for the safe measure.
In such a big, well designed and attractive airport it didn't have to be so shabby, cramped and dirty though.
That approach to Singapore was beutiful! I remember my aproach to singapore from Maldives it was aswell very beutiful
Just stay home if you're so worried
@@dennisrettke you should stay home too if you do not like responsible measures to keep everyone safe.
@@huaiwei ignore that troll, some people just want to let everyone know they are hurting and so they want to inflict their pain on my comment.
I'm just sharing my own opinion anyway. Nice to see air travel is slowing picking up in a safe way like Changi Airport. I don't mind the inconveniences if I get the chance to travel again. :)
Nice aviation footage.
15:54 its heartwarming for me to see the flag of Georiga 🇬🇪❤️
I LOVE U I LOVE TO SE MY OWN ROUTES IN FEW MONTHS IN UR VIEDEOS KEEP IT UP
I flew round trip EWR-SIN-BKK (SQ21-22) on premium economy 41C seat almost 3 years ago. I was fun experience. I will fly again JFK-SIN-BKK in business class to try with miles of course (sq23-24) next month. Can’t wait.
kinda glad to know the reality that somewhere might be mess in changi airport, allow me to prepare for that
Great video. Looking forward to flying Singapore in business class as soon as travel to some SE Asian countries open up.
No matter what criteria you used, I still believe if they're selling it as "Premium Economy", it's fair it should be reviewed that way.
Precisely! Just because you didn't like the previous experience, doesn't mean that you can downgrade it by your own standards and then call it "regular economy".
Hurray 🙌🤩
Finally it is here.
Great illustrative video, thank you for sharing!
Beautiful video 📸👏 honestly 🤩🙌.. ultimate clarity visual treat
That Singapore approach is my favourite in the whole world
Nice view of Edmonton! My hometown. Nice videos. Keep up the good work!
I just travelled with Singapore airlines' business from Melbourne to Singapore. It was great.
Please, for all your fans, stay safe!!
the transit in Changi is now nearly as post covid. 2 lounges also open.
great video
It brings me the memory of SQ891, the crew was nice and humorous. He asked me to buy the whole plane instead of the A350 model🤣
Good to see you again and a very very well done report! 👍👍👍👍
WOW 19 HOURS FROM PHUKET TO TO NEW YORK IS LIKE I DAY ON A PLANE!!
Awesome longhaul flight. Thanks for showing us this journey. Safe Travels🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Wow Singapore Airlines still on another level despite the Pandemic.
Very nice report, without the usual sugarcoating I hear in reviews.
I took this flight, SA premium economy, for 19hours. It was much better than flying economy. But obviously not as good as flying business with the fully flat seat. The legroom was good and food was excellent!
Thanks for that amazing review! I really enjoyed it, thanks for sharing!!
Great video. I loved the footage of Edmonton at night. 🔥🔥🔥
In 2008, I flew non-stop 17 hours from Los Angeles to Bangkok in coach on an A340-500! It was torture and I'll never do it again.
A That's 14 years ago
B you didn't mention the airline
C you didn't mention what the "torture" was.
But anytime i've flown a domestic airline international, other than my one trip to Barcelona, i've been extremely disappointed.)
Enough to where i'd drive/ ride my motorcycle once a month to Phoenix to go see mum, rather than fly.
@@monunyabidness5949 I am pretty sure he meant Singapore airlines & torture was that long hour flight !! I had done it back in the early 80's, to Europe from Japan ,17 ,or 18 hr trip ,it killed me !! Too long !! Thank God it's much shorter now ,U live in L.A. now ,but still 14 hrs to Italy !! I won't do it !! Lol. I'll fly to London ,then fly to other European countries from there !! 💜🥁🐉🎤✈️💞
Changi is no longer the world's best airport. In August 2021 Skytrax awarded Doha's Hamad International as the world's best airport, ending Changi's seven-year dominance. Changi was ranked third behind Tokyo Haneda...based on this review I can see why they dropped
I will say, their safety vid ending in the Gardens by the Bay at 9:15 is a nice touch, it is definitely the most stunning part of the country
But changi came back first again brother
Again an amazing inflight vlog video👍
I disagree about the menus, yeah they're nice and all but if it means cutting use of paper then it's a good thing for both them and the environment
Changi may claim they are the best airport all they want, but we all know the real world's best airport will always be Pyongyang-Sunan. I have spoken
Thanks for the insight Kim.
nope, its LAX, JFK, DXB,
Thx for recommending north Korea as a good place.
@@KxemonPlayz I agree!

Nice! I also hope for a full flight video from 19 hours :)
Bro keep going insane quality 📷4k @60fps LOVE UR VIDEOS 😍😍❤❤❤❤
Thanks. I have an upcoming SFO to SIN flight in Premium Economy so this gives me some idea of what to expect…
4:02 view was breathtaking
Btw the longest official flight is actually between Newark - Singapore not Singapore - JFK
There like the same distance lol😂
I was in their premium economy from Copenhagen to Singapore last June, and the service is definitely better now.
I took this flight 2 weeks ago too! Love seeing the different food served on the same flight!
When it comes to US flag carriers it's all about operating a flight at the lowest possible cost with the least amount of effort. Our US airline service sucks, and frankly, it's not as if any of them (AAL, UAL and DAL), really try.
Will try this Singapore Airlines in the future flight 😊
Just clicked the video randomly and learned that you fly directly over my house when going through edmonton... Insane.
13:15 I like your comment and how nice was that SQ FA at 20:00. I do look forward to travelling on this ultra long haul one day 🛫🗽
Great video david!
Qatar Auckland to Doha - Best food! FAs amazing. Even economy was comfortable..
Thank you for this RUclips. Fly safe. Have an amazing Friday! Greetings from Los Angeles. Ciao.
The A350-900ULR is basically just an A350-900 with a slightly bigger fuel tank. Perfect for going from SIN-JFK or SIN-EWR.
You are slow joe. What's your next flight.
@@petercole8798 I live near New York-Kennedy, New York-LaGuardia, Newark, and HPN, so usually I fly out of one of those if I have to.
1:49 well what do you expect , it just came to SIA . And Domestic Routes is getting busier , it will have no time for them to change new seats and new IFE system
Bombastic! Thank you so much for the video. 😎😎😎✈✈✈❤❤❤
