I hear ALL of what you speak of! For the past few years I have been shedding the material stuff...I owned two homes (one was a rental property in the HIPPEST neighborhood in Denver); I sold it last year when my renter broke her lease due to unemployment-I didnt want the stress. I also had a second car that I used as a weekend car (manual shift so I could have fun in the twisties)-sold it. Then six months ago I quit my software engineering job due to burnout. But during the past few years I also travelled the world while working remote and that absolutely "ruined" me LOL. I want to get off the treadmill and explore more. Since I haven't been working I have been travelling even more and contemplating what to do next as I sporadically look for work. I still have a car and a house that I think I may sell in the next few months and just break free for a little bit. But conversely, I know I will get board if I don't have a purpose or daily work to do. I also will need to get some kind of income going too.....don't wanna be free AND BROKE. It's all a balance. If I could find a non-toxic job that I enjoy doing and will let me work wherever I want to, that would be ideal. I'm not sure I'm 100% ready to give up my home base for the sake of freedom.
Sounds like we have a lot in common! It's certainly not as simple as sell everything then be happy. It highly depends on what you value in life. I could see owning a home being a really freeing thing especially if you got it at a good price. I mean Denver is a really great area to be in. It would be difficult to buy in that area today. Even though I really liked it there I don't think I would be able to live there without being stuck in a job. For me I found a way to make my life work without having a job but it also means I cant live in certain parts of the world. There is a price to pay for every decision we make which brings it all back to values. I hope you find what it is you're looking for and thanks for watching!
@@FrugalBloom thanks man. I actually moved to San Antonio where it is DIRT CHEAP by comparison....so I also struggle with if I want to give up this house I purchased right before the pandemic price boom...prices won't drop if I want to buy in the future. But at any rate thank you and I will continue living vicariously through you haha until I make up my mind. Mexico City is actually tops on my list to jump to if I leave the U.S. And make your way to Lima, Peru, if you can-surprisingly GREAT ENERGY there!
Nice. Enjoying your new videos. I think what resonants with me is Im also doing a career change and taking breaks and taking time off can seem so uncomfortable because for so long we have been consumed in the grind the money the corporate ladder climb but at the end of the day we are longing for a simplified life with cheap prices for food and sunny weather. You have the benefit of having the USA as a home base. Im in Canada and the rainy cold weather has me longing to be a snow bird in the later years of my life. I think everything happens for reasons and life is one big matrix glitch. Cheers
Each of your videos has had unique qualities! I think I really enjoyed this one most of all. It was autobiographical, analytic, philosophical and full of bold and admirable vulnerability. Your storytelling is always so sincere that to me it comes off like poetry. So yeah, it seems that freedom and happiness are not easily defined finite quantities. I view your uncertainties as a very good thing, because it seems that many people unnecessarily box themselves in by making hasty assumptions, drawing premature conclusions, and thereby erecting faulty psychological barriers for themselves, many times in a somewhat desperate attempt to alleviate the discomfort of uncertainty. I enjoy your thoughtful process analysis and I am stoked about being alongt with you on your adventure! Thank you for creating meaningful content and also for sharing your life. I admire you for several reasons, but notably for your humble bravery ❤
Also its extremity common for people in other countries to take long breaks or months off between jobs. I think changing the norm within North America about "gaps" in resume is normal.
@@FrugalBloomyou seriously need some therapy my friend. You’re acting very erratically and it still hasn’t improved your happiness much. You need to get to the root of your unhappiness. You’ve made some pretty poor decisions in my opinion and you seem quite just sad even when you talk about supposedly being happier.
@@Pixelpunch3this is a really judgmental and frankly inaccurate comment. Happiness is 50% genetic. So his odds of being “happy” is mostly out of his control. It’s a pain in the ass to manage a condo remotely like that. Even property managers are annoying because they take shortcuts or give kickbacks to their contractors when they know you won’t be checking up on them. It makes more sense to sell the condo, and put it in the stock market. Historically, owning real estate vs the stock market are neck to neck.
I think you’re brave to do this…but where can you really go in the world to find true freedom & happiness? The whole world seems to be a mess these days
Your thinking in the first few mins of this video is twisted. Sounds to me like you need a therapist more than anything. This sounds like a cry for help lol

I sometimes think about doing what you're doing. I'm waiting to get my student loans forgiven. For now I take trips because I love to travel.

Don’t listen to the haters…at least you’re trying new things…and if it doesn’t work out then you can always go back!

I'm not sure. I feel more happy than before

It seems that way doesn't it? Maybe it's more about mindset although external factors matter!
@FrugalBloom Detachment is an important mental concept. It won't matter if you have much or little if you are indifferent to the status quo.
