Nathan Nguyen when they’re on tour they’re just not as on it. Like don’t get me wrong Mario and Eric are some of best guitarists in their generation, if not of all time, but their stuff is just impossible to play super clean every time they do it. Maybe I caught them on an off day but when I saw them live it was like 7/10 cleanliness
Jeebus Crust Oh ok i thought you were just hating lol. Yeah their stuff is really hard but most of the time they still play it pretty clean. And yeah maybe you did catch them on an off day. We all have those.
@@PierceAkers not really though. The intro is 4/4. Ericks Solo is 3/4. The bridge section is switching between 7/8 and 4/4 and then they have some odd grouping stuff towards the second half of the bridge (especially with the changed drum groove in this video.)
i just realized i Saw that small Camarena brother (drummer) grow for actually 10 years... this is beautiful. thank u for being u with me thru half of my Life CHON 💔
That was like really freaking awesome woww! Like dude, I remember watching the live stream of you guys on audiotree! The drummer was so young and already very impressive, very good to see him now looking so confident and decisive. You guys are just too much, keep on being special pls
You guys should really do a collaboration with Andrew Martin from Moon Honey. He's a buddy of mine from years ago and I think it'd be pretty sweet to hear something with yall.
Anton Kleiner super late but they prolly did multiple takes and used the audio from the best one but the footage from all of them with nathan improvising on the song differently each time
@@zacharykloeb9761 yeah it was his prototype. I love the Mar10 but I think this version is actually nicer. Not gonna complain about an HSS with 24 frets though.

NGL kinda miss the energy one of their old bassist brought to the band. The guys playing guitar gotta focus, so he was always out there bouncing around and grooving.
I gotta disagree bro. He looked kinda dumb to me but more importantly his playing was just hitting the root notes of what the guitars were doing. I think a session bassist records all of their new stuff and this guy just performs but the dynamics got way better.
@@elsernall8732 his energy he brought was a vibe, but he also didnt know how to play the bass. Erick and mario would write the bass parts, then teach it to drew. But now the 3rd camarena bro is an actual player
@@nostalgiajunkie Sorry, that's not what I meant. hahahahah. what I wanted to say is that the video and audio are out of sync. as you can see in the drums.
Chon makes me wanna pick up the guitar, study it for 6 lifetimes and emerge out of there only having half the skill they have... but enjoying my progress anyways.
Was this just a fill-in bass player I see this was them jamming back in 2018 cause that is not what there bass player/vocalist looks like at all haha. He is quite the character is you've watched their other live performance. Still can't believe I've skipped out on seeing them twice now.....
yeah, they used to have Drew who would do vocals, but wasn't the best bassist (though he definitely was good). They parted ways with Drew and now have Esiah Camarena who is brothers to the drummer (Nathan) and guitarist (Mario). Erick has basically just become part of the Camarena family at this point.
Na he does it every live performance, they’re cutting off a beat of the rhythm while keeping the melody the same. He picks up the lost beat on the crash
Wtf dude, have you ever tried to have a band? This kind of thing isn't unusual at all. I could say maybe all bands have 1-3 members that are really essentials in the structure of a group, the dynamics may vary but there is no way all members are irreplaceable. Life just happens and we sometimes can't keep the same people in our lives. Also I'm drunk rn so don't take it too serious, peace.
Chons either one of the cleanest or the cleanest band I've ever seen
wait till u see them live :/
Jeebus Crust Still clean af live. Idk what you were listening to but it wasn’t chon

Can we just take a second to appreciate how sexy that snare sounds🤙
Yes
Shoutout to the guy/s shouting woo at 2:09
LOL I almost missed that
He represents us hahaha
I discovered CHON and Polyphia in the same year which was 2014. and I never stopped listening to whatever these 2 bands come up with.
Those pinch harmonics he added at 1:46 😍
Erick's solo is so spine chilling, I freaking love it.
And it is a felony that he uses that clean of a tone for that :D still slaying all the notes
the permutation of eric’s solo at 2:33 is so tasty, it’s honestly insane.
I miss the time when I first heard CHON. They are amazing
I don't, because I am still listening to chon today! Keep breathing brethren
1:50 - 2:24 the way they play together is so good
still my favourite song of all time
How many times signature you will use?
Chon: yes
Lmao it’s funny, this song is in 4/4 till after Erick’s first solo (that part is in 6/4)
But Chon really aren't known for their rythmic complexity tho xD

Most of chon songs is in 4/4 , most of the time they just like to mess with the rhythms
some 6/8, 7/8 and 4/4 are all time signatures in the song.
Still sad they cancelled Delhi show. Was so excited to see them live :(
Chons got the feel good vibes. Brilliant performance
2:19 simple but awesome

bro it sounded soo good
1:43 bass is so nice here
god damn i love these live shows that have a transparent mixing style, i love this kind of music when it's not all computerised.

This is gold! Chon is number one. Erics solo is amazing!
It’s obligatory to listen to this song weekly
They have so much control!!
CHON performing live never fails to amaze me. And I love the tight, high-tuned snare tone ;) Pozdro666

I've heard of ghost notes, but Nathan is taking it to a whole new level with the mismatched audio and video from different takes.
Never noticed it before reading this comment. I'm too focused on the guitars
oh boy finally, but i always wish Nathan used the album version for the "woo" part
I thought I was the only one who thought about this!
Nathan’s drumming are goals 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🥵
MAGIC !
hell yeah
Daaamn, this live version reminds of the old demo of this song that had some pretty nice drums.

Something about Erick's solos always get me. I think its because they always sound like hes trying to speak.
That snare drum
Bonus points for the Stone Brewing Hoodie.
