The yarn I used for demonstration is Paintbox Yarns Wool Mix Chunky. The needles are Knitter's Pride Bamboo.
The wrap on the mannequin is called Yesica Wrap (not my design):

I love how you make everything clear and simple for us to understand - you are a fantastic teacher! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. x Davie
whenever I encounter a stitch or a technique that I am unfamiliar with, your series is the first one I go to. Your explanations are concise and your demonstration is clear and simple! thanks❤
You have seriously taught me how to knit. Thank you so much for all of these clear tutorials ♥️
I always like your easy demonstrations, thank you 😊
Oh sweet baby Jesus Thank You! I have tried other decreases that "sort of" gave a straight line appearance but liked none of them. This! Perfect!
Sounds like an ailment. It is a beautiful decrease, thanks for the demo.
LOL, I thought so, too! Dang, I have to go get my CDD vaccination.
Thank you. I understood the directions in my pattern, but seeing it in action really helps me ensure I have it right. Thank you!
As always, another great tutorial. Thank you.
Excellent video, thank you. Clear, concise and straightforward. Really appreciate it, thank you. This is EXACTLY the technique for which I was searching.
Now I'm tempted to find a pattern on Ravelry just to try this out. But my 15 other projects on the go are giving me side-eye.
All of your tutorials are so clear! Thank you
It’s used in the Cozy Memories blanket which everybody and her sister seem to be knitting.
Thank you for making the connection between the PSSO and the CDD. I thought they were the same, but wasn’t confident about that.
You are such a treasure. I wouldn't be able to knit without your tutorials. Thank you ☺️
Your knitting help videos are so precise, clear, and simple! They have been a tremendous help!
Staci I've been watching your tutorials for quite sometime now.. recently got back into knitting.. Your tutorials are always GREAT... thank you so much!
I love your tuturials. You make everything look so so easy!
Thank you! This stitch just happens to be in my newest pattern that I'm just about to start knitting. I'm a fairly new knitter and thought "Hmmm, what is this CDD?" when I saw it in the pattern. And, now I know! o:)
Love how clearly you explain things, thank you :)
Thank goodness for this video! Your tutorials are great.
A clear demonstration as always.Would love one on the twisted double decrease and increase.
Staci, I always look your site up if I am having any issues because you explain topics to where I can understand it. Thank you so much for doing this ...
Like someone else said, it's used in the Knit Picks Hue Shift Afghan pattern. It's also used in the Chevron Baby Blanket pattern by Espace Tricot. In the baby blanket pattern, they just call it a mitered decrease, but it's the same process you show here. Confused me when I first started the pattern, but once you do a few rows the shaping begins to show and it works out :)
Thank you for this knitting stitch technique tutorial. 😊
I had to learn this for a sweater sleeve decrease. Took a while for me to catch on, but it was a neat decrease for the sleeves.
Thanks for this great tutorial that is easy to understand.
Finally! Thank you. I have a pattern for a baby blanket that calls for a CDD but I needed someone to show me how to do it. I really appreciate your videos.
I think this decrease is great! I use it on mitred squares for my blankie, always purling the centre stitch on the wrong side makes this look wonderful!
Seems easy enough and creates a lovely design! Great video!!
I first came across this decrease in the Notes written by a Ravelry member for one of her projects, the Soft + Cushy Hat pattern from Purl Soho. That pattern calls for using K3tog repeatedly as one of the decreases in the crown section of the hat. The Raveler had had trouble making the K3tog stitch, so she offered "Slip1, Slip1, Knit1, Pass Slipped Stitches Over" as a substitute for K3tog. I immediately made note of that because I too have trouble with working K3tog. Time passed and now I see it's also called the CDD. I call it a life saver.
Just had to do this as my pattern calls for it. Your video is so clear. Much appreciated.
Great demonstration. I’ve never had to use it before.
Beautifully shown and explained. Thank you.
Thank you for this, I've been knitting for years but had never heard of CDD - as soon as you talked about what it involved, though, it all came clear :)
Perfect timing! I’m working on a sweater that has this coming up in a few rows.
I came looking for what the pattern called sl2kpsso but I think this is it. And it was very helpful. Thank you!
Such a great tutorial! I love the swatch!
Thank you staci very helpful....have a nice day.....
It's the term used in the Knitpicks pattern for a Hue Shift blanket. Personally I add a stitch and do k2tog and ssk on both sides of the center I find this one can be fiddle to do with dk and smaller yarns.
Thomas Orosco: I’m used to doing it with sock yarn, this is one of my favourite decreases, because it’s so decorative!
BRAVO...!!! I agree with every single comment down here... You have saved me soooooo much time...!!! I have been looking for this kind of info for months now... Almost gave it up...!!! NOW, would it work in garter stitch...? Multi-colored garter stitch...? I am trying to work the ear flaps for a Peruvian chullo (hat) but over there they knit from the wrong side and Portuguese style so they go too fast for me no matter how much I reduce the speed of the several videos around the subject... I will go now for months trying to practice what you just have shown and translate it to garter... A steeper one working with ten colors... Thank you so very much anyway... I think I am closer to achieving my goal...
Another simple tutorial. Thanks 😊
Thank you you saved so much of my time God bless
Thank you. Very helpful demonstration.
l needed to learn CDD due to falling in love with the Stjarna Christmas decoration.
Yup, I came searching for CDD because of a pattern I'm using. I had never hear of it, either. Thanks.
Hello. Thank you for making this tutorial. I’ve tried finding a tutorial for undoing a center decrease, and can’t find one. My husband is a knitter and showed me a few ways to remove this stitch and made a quick video I can refer to when I need a reminder, but would you consider making a tutorial on how to remove a center decrease? I bet others could use the help like I did. Thanks again.
Thank you so much! This was driving me crazy that I wasn't quite doing it the RIGHT way!!!!❤
As always, super helpful!
Another great video! Many thanks!
I needed this , Thank you
Amazing tutorial, it was easy to understand!
I saw Zimmerman do this decrease ages ago.
Thank you! That was excellent!
Thank you, thank you so much. I'm knitting a sweater (trying my hand at designing my own) with a square neckline and couldn't find anywhere how to decrease for a corner. Again thank you.
Thank you. You made it easy to understand
This was so helpful. Thank you! 🧶
Thanks for doing the tutorial. I just encountered it in a knitted beret/tam the spirals on the top of the hat. I found the wool yarn was splitting while pulling the two slipped stitches over.
Super well explained, thanks a lot!!!
Love this tutorial! Very straightforward. Do you have one for a CDD on the purl side?
Thank you for another illuminating video, Staci. Laura Nelkin uses CDD in her Novel T. And yes -- CDD sounds like a bureaucratic title: 'Center for Dalmatian Diseases,' anyone?
This is so clear! Thank you x
Using CDD in my second Paint the Town Shawl!!
Fantastic ! Thanks!
Thank you!
So neat I love it ☺️
thank you, using this to make knee high socks that fit snug all the way down❤
Thank you.
I knew I could count on you! The pattern didn’t have a key.❤
This is also called mitered vertical decrease. I was so confused when I saw this in a pattern and did not know how it was done. I also saw another write in the pattern as sk2p right down in the middle of her wheel chart which is my biggest challenge to learning to follow a chart. It's also the decreases that confuse me, whether I am supposed to slip 2 before a left leaning symbol for an ssk or am I supposed to slip the stitches after the symbol then knit that stitch, ya know what I mean?
Would there be a way to do this but have the central row on the inside? Perhaps purl instead of knit? I like the way the sides of the decrease look for the top of the hat, but I don’t like the bulky row sticking up. Is there a different decrease that’s similarly clean for hats? Thanks!
I'm wondering if there's a comparable increase technique that would give that same clean line.
Your the best!
How about a video sometime on how to tink this stitch? I gave up on a project that used this stitch every single row because I found it impossible to fix my mistakes. Love your videos!
This stitch isn't really "tinkable", because of the way it's constructed. You really have to pull the needle out and pick up the three live stitches.
VeryPink Knits thanks for your reply. Makes me feel better in a way. I sure found I wasn’t able to tink it and, getting the 3 live stitches back on the needles proved beyond my skill level with the very fine yarn I was using.
Grazie, tutorial perfetto💚
Can this be done on a purl row ? Thanks
a pattern for me says to "yarn over" before i do that, but do i "purl wise "-slip the two-?
after Ive done that it calls to" knit 1" and then" yarn over" and then "knit 3".. but how does that work if the yarn is in the purpling position and not knit side for me to knit the 3 hahah, im confused Im assuming im reading this wrong
Rnd 3: *K3, YO, S2KP2, YO; rep from *
to end.
For working your "round 3" you will knit 3 stitches, YO, then work the CDD as Staci demonstrated in this video: pass the next 2 stitches together knitwise onto your right needle, knit the next stitch, then pass both of the slipped stitches over the stitch you just knit, then YO and repeat starting again with knit 3 etc.
I'm confused about "how does that work if the yarn is in the purling position" part. Simply place your yarn behind the needles in knit position. Should you have a purl stitch *after* a YO you end up with a complete wrap of yarn around your right needle. Working a YO after a purl stitch the yarn will simply lie over your right needle. I hope this helps 😉
I love this look! I am ready to decrease my hat knit in the round. I have my 4 markers placed. How would I work this decrease with my set up?
Are you following a pattern? I recommend following a pattern. "Winging it" on a hat isn't an easy thing.
I have 2 older lace shawl patterns that used the terminology Cdd. I believe ( just my opinion ) it was older terminology.
debido2u WOW, I thought this was a “new” stitch? Thanks for your info!
Would you be open to demonstrating a bobble?
I would like to use this mitered square blankets but I cannot make this work for me. I can do the stitch but count wise it never works for me. It frustrates me so much.
wt30001: You slip the stitch before the centre st, and the centre stitch, as if to knit, then knit the next one, and PSSO. This will show the centre st, and mitre your square, if you do this every right side row. I like to purl the centre st every wrong side row, to give a decorative line up the middle. You need an odd number of stitches, in your square (I use 31).
Por favor sería posible subtitulos en español?? Muchas gracias
Can you show us how to undo a CDD??
👍👍👍
I recently purchased Knitters Pride interchangeable needle set. I have been struggling with my needle coming loose while I’m knitting. I have tightened it with the pin. Should I return them?
You will want to contact Knitter's Pride directly...if you're tightening them with the pin, they should never come apart, until you unscrew them with the pin.
VeryPink Knits I sent them an email and they did not reply. Do you know of a better contact?
I don't know, maybe try contacting them via Facebook message, so you get a marketing person.
Or, contact the store you bought them from, so they can contact their rep.
VeryPink Knits Thank you so much. I am a new knitter & loving your channel!
What is that shawl on the dress form behind you?????
You can always check the video description field for links to everything you see in my videos.
How do I do pcdd
Is there a pattern for the washcloth you are showing in this video?
verypink.com/2014/03/07/traditional-dishcloth-pattern-free-update/
Thank you for the pattern, but i was actually looking for a washcloth with the CCD and the nice border. Thank you for sharing all your talents.@verypinkknits
I see. That sample is just a sample to demonstrate the technique, not a pattern for anything.
@@verypinkknits OK, thanks for responding so quickly.

Laura Nelkin calls them CDD.
