  • Learn how to use some of the most important features on the Petzl SWIFT RL headlamp.
    With its 900-lumen brightness and total weight of only 100 g, SWIFT® RL is the most powerful of the Petzl compact headlamps. With its REACTIVE LIGHTING® technology, a sensor analyzes the ambient light and automatically adjusts brightness to user requirements. The headband is reflective for night visibility. Its two-part construction provides excellent stability in dynamic and intense activities such as mountaineering, trail running and skiing. SWIFT® RL is intuitive, with a single button for easy control of all lamp functions. It is rechargeable, with a five-level gauge for precise monitoring of the battery charge level.

    I use the light for night running where part of the run is in well lit area and then it goes to wooded area which is often muddy as it rains a lot in winters when the days are short . I feel like reactive lighting is meant for runs like mine as it works perfectly in sync with the surrounding light .

    I've owned one of these for over a year. It's the best headlamp I've ever owned, or used. I've found the standard mode, with low setting, works for 80% of all uses. I generally don't need Reactive, or high power, however, when I do, both work amazingly well. Like having a headlamp, PLUS a flashlight on your head. A couple tips:
    Don't try to charge it off a USB cable plugged into a computer. It likely won't work.
    You probably don't need an extra battery. This one lasts a long, long time. I suppose if you're on a multi-day, or multi-week backpacking trip, third world expedition, or ultra endurance night event. The other 98% of us...

      Yes! I should’ve done my research first because that’s what I thought the swift was and it is so disappointing. I can never get it to go to 900 lm and stay there and that sucks. Like I know it won’t last very long at 900 lm, but I don’t care! I want to be able to set it to that And keep it there. So mad I spent so much money on the stupid thing.

    Why was the light designed to provide more lumens in reactive mode than standard? I think it would be nice to have the same lumens in standard mode if you don't want the light to be reacting to ambient conditions. Or was the intent to provide an option to provide longer duration performance by switching to standard mode?

    • @StarWarsJay

    Climbers should use another model. This is not a hybrid model for batteries. So if on a long climb, you need a recharge, you’re out of luck. Also no red light, which was an instant deal-killer. No reactive lighting system can compete with a red light in your tent.

    Hello, have got one. Could you explain how to open rear cover to access the battery? I do everything according to the instructions: I turn the body of the flashlight from the bottom up, but it does not turn completely and rests against the bracket on the belt. I'm afraid to turn further, as it might break,in my opinion.

    • @petzlna
      @petzlna  3 года назад +1

      Sounds like you are on the right track. You just need to carefully use enough force to pop the head off track. It shouldn't break if you do it carefully. If it does break, you should be able to warranty it.
