🚨 UPDATE on audio interfaces: I connected a Focusrite Vocaster two via USB-C, it turns on and is recognized by Ferrite on the iPhone. So it seems the power needs of an audio interface will determine whether you can use it directly with the iPhone 15 Pro.
That is what was driving me insane in your video. You most likely already have the solution which is to use the powered USB C switch you were using at the start of the video. No shit a lot of those devices didn’t work since the port on the phone can only put out 4.5 watts.
Whats the max input charging wattage and is the 15/15max pro different ? What’s the max output video output frames per second and is it 720,1080 or 4K? Does garage band work for touch pads or any instrument with or without type c external power .? Is the audio louder on earpeace and regular videos any better or louder than the iPhone 12-14?
The same is most likely true for the webcam, where as the Elgato HD60S(+) most likely doesn't work, because it needs drivers. Where I'd bet that an Elgato CamLink (4K) would work with a powered hub(?).
🚨 LATEST UPDATE: What works and what doesn't via USB-C - USB Keyboard works, even through hub ✅ - Mouse does work via Bluetooth and Accessibility Touch - External SSD ProRes video recording works through hub ✅ - iPhone CAN POWER THE STUDIO DISPLAY 🤯 - Webcam does not work, even if plugged into a powered hub 🚫 - USB mic can be plugged into a hub and still works ✅ - Some audio interfaces will work through hub or direct, like the Focusrite Vocaster ✅
Incredible, the studio display connection & power is badass ngl. I want to see if the belkin rock star adapter can let you run a usb c SSD & 3.5mm external microphone.
With the Samsung flash drive that you featured work at Prores 4k60? I ask because I'm seeing that you need a write speed data rate of 200mb/s and it looks like that flash drive only does 120-130mb/s. It looked like in your video you did 4k30.
I doubt it. The Thunderbolt 3/4 specification requires a port to supply 15W of power. The USB4 spec requires 7.5W. And USB 3.2 requires 4.5W. While I can see them upping it to 7.5W and giving us USB4, I doubt they'd go for 15W with such a small battery.@@beardfm

Great stuff. Very cool that a USB hub can do all that including Ethernet! Do you know if any external SSD's allow for the 10Gb/s transfer speed available on the 15 Pro/Max or is that limited to laptop interfaces? Most external SSD's seem to tap out at around 1,000Mb/s with a few at 2000Mbs.
If I had to guess, the webcam would work if you the iPhone gets simultaneous power delivery. Try connecting webcam through the USB C dock + power. These are similar issues I’ve faced with lightning connector accessories with iPad mini 5

Yes I’ve found different audio interfaces will work! The Vocaster Two works in my testing. And the 14 Pro didn’t have USB 3.0 speeds from the port, I think that’s a big reason why.
Hey just wanted to let you know, I have the Schiit Hel 2e, which is an externally powered Amp with no drivers. Very informative video. I was looking for this kind of information since this iPhone 15 launched.
Appreciate it
That covered a lot of ground in a short span of time and I loved it ! It answered a big question I had in mind which was puzzling me to no end. I could use iPad mini as an external monitor with an app called monitor+ but iphone 15 pro just wouldn't recognize the USB-C cable that was plugged into Sony A7 IV. So for now, I'm going to continue using the iPad Mini until Apple pushes a firmware update to empower the USB-C port to accept video input from a webcam or a mirrorless camera. Thank you so much !
This is a very relevant video indeed. Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing
Appreciate that 🙏🏻 I will!
Very helpful, now I need to see if you have one about the camera.
A review on the camera?? Not yet but if enough people want it 👀👀
Congratulations, you guys finally made it. Yeah. Welcome we been doing this for YEARS!
One of the best video on iPhone 15, you have just proved that a new feature ( USB C) is not just gimmick. Now the gap between Android and iPhone is in millimeter. Thank you so much highlighting the real world benefits of USB C.👍👍👍👍👍
3:34 The handshake only happens if both iPhones (or Android phone) are USB-C, if you connect a lightning iPhone to a USB-C one, the lighting iPhone will always charge, no matter the battery percentage on both.
Well done apple people. Ur finally catching up to modern times. By modern times I means 10 years+ ago. Great innovation. Amazing.
Exactly what I was looking for. Excellent video.
Appreciate that!
In the future USB C for the iPhone will get improved to be able to handle multitasks at once or more tasks that aren’t currently available
Great video, Stephen! Very useful info. 👍
Thanks! Had an updated version here too: ruclips.net/video/3RWQ_pmIRTo/видео.htmlsi=hx5RG9dfqVVZax_4
Great video, it showed me some techniques I didn’t know were possible. I subscribed today
Awesome! Thank you!
there are a few things more that come into my mind, maybe i missed it on the video but what about game controllers, usb-c headphones, other input devices like mouse/keyboard? nice video though!
Never thought someone would come up with this. this video really helps!
thanks a lot for testing! Sounds great!
Yooo, you have the same JWST Nebula Background. A man with taste 🌌
Love that image!
Great to see and hear the enthusiasm things android can do for ages now works on Apple. Great step for the consumer..
Great video and straight to the point!
Great content, agree with others no pointless filler rubbish, perfectly explained and great recommendations.
