Great tips as usual 👍 I think you need a GoPro dog harness and have him as your chase cam!! He’s so fast! 😁
What an excellent idea! I would watch that, for sure 😆
Yeah, we did try with him when he was younger but he always rolled about to try and get it off, might have to give it another go, would be cool!
Yes! In fact, that's such an awesome idea, especially with testing the abilities of the new tech out there like the insta 360. Actually, i might not watch again until you do this so yeah I'm gonna hold my viewership hostage! 😉🤣
😱 dont hold me hostage! 😂
@@malcolmmoore Maybe try putting it on him for a short time at nights and keep giving him treats when he's not trying to get it off, and tell him off (mildly) when he does. Then slowly integrate that into daytime riding.
..just my 2cents
Just the fact that you have Indy with you makes this the best Snowboard Chanel on RUclips. Love that doggo
Same 😍
That dog is so hilarious 😂
Must be on speed or something. So cool having him out there with you. ❤️
".....it might not actually look like I am doing much, because I'm not!" Malcolm, you are an exceptional coach, thank you!
Thanks! 🙌
The coaching is great but honestly I watch your channel for Indy :D
Haha, that's fine by me, he's the best! 😃🐕
Way back in time, 25-30 years old. Snowboarders were still getting yelled at by skiers, so it was a while ago. I was good enough to have fun, board where I wanted.
20 years later (2020, days before Covid took over), I got on a board, fell hard a few times, ot hurt WAY worse than I remembered, said, "I guess I am a snowshoer now."
Tried again, had fun, and now drilling down into your videos to correct all the impurities in my posture, my turns, etc. At 51 years old having more fun than ever.
Long winded way to say... THANK YOU! So helpful, so clear.
(And snoeshoing is awesome for recovery days, cuz oh yeah, those happen a bit more often!)
And Indy is the best.
best snowboarding channel for tutorials
Thanks lionel!
You are the only european coach I watch on youtube. There may well be many more but your passion for the sport and the way you explain your tips is mint 👌👌 demoralising times man but even more props for still putting out content. Your snowboarding story video was cool too tbh 🤙🤙🤙
Thanks man, I really appreciate it 🙏
Ye he is bang on with the teaching.
IMO, the absolute best snowboard instructor on RUclips...Period!!!
Cheers man 😁🙌
I started snowboarding again at 32 after not being on the slopes in 7 or more years. Did a bunch of research, got a board and bindings that fit me better, and then started looking at online lessons to gain my confidence back in riding.
That said, this has been the most useful and best lesson I’ve seen on RUclips yet. Used this on one of my first rides after a rough few days in general, and it worked perfectly and made my day. Thanks Malcom, you got a new subscriber.
Thanks David! 👍
Coach Moore, excellent lesson!!! That‘s really a game changer!!! 🤜🤛
Thanks man! 🤙
Another great vid between Malcolm,Kevin Pearce,Ryan Knapton that’s the only 3 ya need to watch. Love these vids
I agree! And it seems like all the RUclips coaches are taking their tutorials and coaching a notch . As a language teacher and teacher trainer I have found that Snowboard Addiction and Snowboard ProCamp are leading the way with live coaching videos.

Thanks guys, sorry I managed to miss this comment first time around! Just wait for next season when I have the lifts running, then i will be on my A game!
I wish you were my actual teacher 😂 i fully learnt how to snowboard in 2 days without a teacher thanks to your videos 🙌🏼🙌🏼 thankss

Awesome thanks man, I appreciate it, and sorry I missed this comment first time around!
That fact you’re hiked that to do a video. I salute you sir. Top tips and super helpful. Your dog was having loads of fun in the powder.
Thanks 🙏
@@malcolmmoore I and others appreciative of the effort that goes into making these videos. Not mention the editing etc. No uplift. I don’t get the thumbs down at all.
Hi Michael, I'm turning 60 this year and I challenge myself to learn snowboarding.
Only four days on the snow last february and now ready for five more days but this time loaded with your teachings I hope to get closer to the goal.
I confess that I have seen many channels, but yours is the one that I prefer above all others.
Teaching requires vocation and passion to teach, very present in your videos.
Congratulations!!
You look like you are barely moving, so effortless! Will try this out, thank you!
Great lesson. 😊 And your dog is pretty cool. 😄
Indy is the boss 🐕
We just got 3 feet of snow and I can't wait for the slopes to open so I can go try this out!!!
Man I'm jealous!
you have no idea how much this helped me dude thx
No worries 👍
Indi is an awesome dog. Amazing cardiovascular endurance. Better than human haha.
😁🐕
As a beginner I can tell this tip is a life changer for me. Really improved my boarding feeling . Makes it much easier to turn. Keep it up Malcolm
Thanks Michael, back in December with more!
This is my first season riding & I appreciate your tips/ videos, immensely! I have so much respect for you, especially after watching your video about your snowboarding progression over the years. Thank you for putting videos out there 🙌🏻
Thanks nicole, I appreciate it 🙏
How is the progression going ?
Wonderful technique, thank you for your insights and guidance. Indie rocks!!
After not being able to get away for years due to covid it’s great to see the technique laid out in such an easy to understand simple way.
Thanks matt!
Awesome edit Malcolm , Indy looked to be loving the action in this video 🤗
Thanks! Yeah, hes the only one loving lifts being shut!
Trying this one out when we're back in the mountains
Italy is opening up next week, I'm really hoping france follows suit, I'm tired of hiking!
@@malcolmmoore yep, we’re hoping to go to Valle d’Aosta sometime in March. We’ve been lucky here in Switzerland that they really didn’t close up and we’re able to do Laax already.
Thank you! Can't wait to try the stand up method this weekend.
Thanks you 🙏🙏
Double thumbs up on this video Malcolm! Thank you.
👍👍 thanks!
I had to watch this 2x . Once for instructions and the other to watch Indy 😅
Awesome 😃🐕
After watching you, Tommie Bennet and Ryan Knapton I learnt how to carve and play in the trees so quickly i got to enjoy my first season snowboarding. I am another skier who been converted! I love it.
Epic, Tommy B, Ryan Knapton, are both Bosses!
@@malcolmmoore i cant wait to steal one of my dad ski poles and see if my postures good! Im stoked
This video is like a nice summary/combination on other techniques that tou explained fully in previous videos. I love it! Great content as usual! 👌👌👌
Thanks! Yeah it's pretty simple this one, but worth covering the basics sometimes!
Even though I have a wonderful instructor and have been boarding since 2007 I so enjoy your tutorials. This season I’ve been really working on my heel edge turns when on steeper terrain. Your tips have made such a difference!
Awesome! Thanks for letting me know 👍
Stand up to transition to new edge is the best piece of advice to help me link turns. Top notch videos!
Glad it's helped, thanks Andrew 👍
I haven't been on a board for 21 years and I'm headed out tomorrow at 40 years old. I'm so excited and your videos are excellent! Thanks!
40 years young! I'll be there soon!
Hay Malcolm try 65.never gona stop. Go indie. 🇳🇿
Must be awesome to ride w/ you 4legged best friend 🐾
100% 😃
Intermediate rider here ✌️Your videos contribute a lot to my progression! I applied your advice from the posture video today and it made a major difference. Thanks Malcolm & Indy 🙏😊 Cheers from Saalbach 🇦🇹
Awesome, thanks, very jealous of you guys in Austria with your lifts running!
malcom just from watching your videos i had at least 50% improvment instantly in one day. Thanks a lot
Awesome, glad its helping! Thanks for letting me know 🙏
Great video. To my eye and what helped me not catch my edge when transitioning in a corner was I noticed that as you unweight you naturally move the board past your center of weight through the board. That way when your new edge catches your weight is on the inside of the turn.
Can't wait to try these tips out of the slopes! Thanks for the cool tips
Sir Malcolm strikes again! Your channel has been helping this rookie become confident since last winter of starting this new hobby. I keep coming back to your videos as all of them are informative, and just simply gold- all the more spotlight, and recognition it needs! Thank you 🙏
Thanks, I appreciate it, and sorry I missed this comment the first time around!
Omg, watching Indy run downhill with you and then stack it at 7:49 was the best thing ever LMFAOOOOO

This has helped me out a lot! I’m a noob noob so this is a lot of help thanks for the info I’ve improved a lot!
Awesome! 👍
Awesome tips as always.. Best snowboard RUclipsr without any doubt. Keep it up🏂🏔
Cheers that's awesome 😊
Excellent. Your chanel has been more than helpful. Your dog though is a natural snow guy. She just wants to go running and do some big speedy carves. Hes awesome...Keep it coming Malcom
Thanks 🙏
These videos are amazing, so clear and informative. Very interesting and delivered in a very engaging manner. Thank you very much for taking the time to make these fantastic videos. I really appreciate your work.
You're very welcome!
where can we find slow-mo footage of Indy shredding the mountain?
Haha, coming soon!
Damn!!! That dog is fast!!! Even at high altitude
08:03 happiness is approaching ❤
Love this! Picking up boarding again after 10 years of not going since being a teenager and your videos have been so useful. Love every one of them and the way you describe the tips is bang on 🤙🏼
Thanks Andrew 🙌
This channel is my new favorite one. my only regret is that i found out about it AFTER my snowboard vacation (TY YT Algorithm!). great tips - and I learned that my riding skill is not as great as i thought it is and i still make a lot of mistakes. Thank you Malcolm you rock. btw any chance for a video about your preffered ski resorts for snowboards? I live in Israel and every time I go on a ski vication i need to gamble to where i should go and its a hit or miss.... you rock! thanks!
Thanks Geva! I haven't been to all the resorts, but I am planning on travelling a bit more towards the end of the season around France at least, so thanks for the video idea!
Thanks so much for all these very informative videos! I can't wait to apply them next week in Vermont. Also LOVE seeing Indy on the slopes. That is one happy pup....
Awesome, hope the videos help!
Last time i did snowboarding i was in my twenties. I am 45 now… i started again this season, been watching your videos this xmas holidays and i could say that, even though i dont have the same energy and strengh, i could say i am a better snowboarder now! Thanks a lot, Malcom.
Nice one! Cheers Pedro 🙌
Learned something valuable today! Thanks dude! Can't wait to try this out when this polar vortex leaves Canada. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, hope it works for you! 👍
Your a legend Malcom, been watching your videos religiously and definitely has helped me the last few days of our early winter season - Keep up the great vids YEW!

Such a good coach, I’ve been snowboarding once for a week and picked it up quickly but struggled smoothly turning and riding moguls, your videos have really helped me with this thank you 😊
Edit: also Indy is so cute
Thanks Cookie! 🙌
Love you COACH!! We got a free lesson for 100 dollars!

Thank you so much man. That up/down thing helped me finally get to the bottom of the slope without falling 643 times down the run
Haha, no worries, glad it helped!
Hi Malcolm,
I'm from Uzbekistan and started my snowboard life 2 seasons ago. I started to see your videos, but THIS video gave me a good hand to improve my riding on unweight turns from your previos video. Thank you very much! Good luck!
Awesome, thanks azamat!
This guy knows what he's doing. I subscribed bc Andy.
Hooray for andy! 🙏
@@malcolmmoore waiiiit is his name indy or andy?! I'm here for the pup!
Up-unweighting is awesome, it can as physically challenging as down-unweighted if you want it to be, or just super chill and relaxing. As the board de-cambers while standing, you may even find yourself hopping from edge to edge.
Thanks for being the only channel to cover unweighted turns, all of the other english channels I watch (mostly North American) never go into these details, it's helped me really dial in my carving this season. Funnily enough, my two stances have opposite strengths, regular being down-unweighted, so I've been splitting my practice into focusing on up-unweights a lot while riding regular.
*edit* : re*cambers
Hey man I asked these on another video, but I was really dialling in my down unweighted turns today and it felt awesome.
In what scenarios would you use down vs up unweighting? I was ready to just drop up unweighted turns altogether (apologies if he covers this in the video, only half way through as of writing)
@@kiddkaos1 Personally I found up-unweighting harder to do in deep-snow/powder conditions, so down-unweighting is name of the game there (also when in bumpy areas). I actually didn't catch his suggestion for when up-unweighting should be used, but I always enjoy doing them on steeper slopes and at high speeds as they feel more stable and are easier to lay down clean lines with.
The sensation too is completely different, as you stand the board will boost you up via re-cambering, and it gives a weightless sensation if timed correctly. Try it out.
Missed this comment first time around, but thanks!
go Indy! 🐶 great video thanks :)
Thank you! 😀
A dog cam would be awesome dude!
You’re the best snowboard instructor I’ve seen. Hope I’ll be able to book some lessons with you when this lockdown craziness is over
Yeah can't wait for it all to be over, just send me an email via my website (link in description) if you're ever over here and keen for some lessons!
Totally appreciate your tips. I learned to ride at age 47, having never been on skis or a snowboard (I have found that I don’t like skiing). Now, as a 58 year old grandma, I still ride (after a few years hiatus); and although I’m no speed queen, I do Ok. In addition, the snowboarding community has proven to be welcoming without judgement. The young G’s are always willing to give me tips and check on me when I eat it. Anyway, again, your videos are greatly appreciated. Hugs and 🤘🏾from GGShredz 🏂. Oh, and I love Indy.
thats a fast Pupper!
Awesome tips! Love your dog, we used to have a toller, she passed away 4yrs ago 😪
Thanks, sad to hear about your dog 😕
Love it. the snow looks awesome there. California has been icy and hard during this time. it's my first season ever. I just got back from snowboarding in Whistler. I just started to incorporate carving techniques too. thanks for all your tips!
Awesome tips Malcom, I’m very much a beginner to boarding and your videos are so easy to learn from and of course, love your pooch 😄
Thanks jade hope they help !

You're welcome! 😃
Thank you. This video (and many others you posted) really helped me progress from beginner to intermediate this season...and more importantly, fell in love with snowboarding. Can't wait til next season. Great coaching! Going to keep watching your videos to progress to carving.
Excellent refresher! Thanks!

Great video 👍 Pure joy watching you ride with your dog. Very jealous. Trying these drills on the electric Onewheel atm closest I can get! Keep it up
I've hear good things about those, need to try one out in the summer!
2 years later, I did this one trick and absolute lept from beginner to intermediate

Perfectly well timed video! I'm FINALLY going snowboarding this week-end with a friend of mine, so i'll practice that! :p

Amazing video !!

well explained dude..as always🤙
Thanks man 🙏
Great video! I always learn so much from them
Awesome!
Liked and favourited. Love how the dog hilariously caught up with you around @8:00. Almost was worried you left it behind! Btw, are you using a traditional, flat, rocker/reverse, or mixed/hybrid camber board in this video? And would you recommend that same one for beginner to intermediate level boarders if they could only buy one?
Thanks, appreciate it! I'm on standard camber here, early rise rocker is pretty good for beginners! Boards like the nidecker escape have that for instance, but so do alot of others!
Excellent tips! Can’t wait to give these a try
🙌
I loved Indie all the time. ❤️ You are both so heart-warming.
Oh, I also found the video on how not to catch edges so precious, simple reason but soooo undestimated, so thank you for having done that!! And... I realized afterwards it's Indy, not Indie, so my bad ☺️ thank you again and again
Very cool tips! I've been only riding for a week about one or two years ago, but already looking forward to try these out. I sure am one those using arms a lot most of the time :D
Hope it helps!
Thanks mate! Will practice this weekend 👍🏼
Awesome 👍
Great video on running down slopes. It's not easy.
Shame some guy keeps getting in Indies way.
7:50 I think Indy caught his toe edge haha. What mountain is this where you can bring your dog??
This is Alpe d'Huez France 🤩
this was ultra useful to me, thanks mate
No worries, glad to help!
Dude I think you might be the Bob Ross of snowboarding
Thanks!
@@malcolmmoore thanks for the great content. Just turned 40 and challenged myself to learn so your videos are hugely helpful!
My bad habit is stiffening and extending my body posture when I’m scared or picking up speed. I end up catching edges and falling. Posture is what I’m working on at the moment
One of my biggest challenges is getting off the lift. Would you do a video on that?
Sure thing, it'll have to wait until winter now though!
sick episode thanks for the hacks !
Thanks!
Hi Malcom! Great video and this is how I will start my riding today to end up with the right posture straight away. Love that Indy is in the videos, but how does he get up the slopes? In the chair lift with you or running underneath? :)
Awesome! This video, and most the videos with indy in were filmed during covid when the resort was shut, meaning I walked up the piste to film this 👍
@@malcolmmoore Impressive and Hard work, but what do we not do to ride?! 😃
Great video Thank you
Thanks!
this feels related to my lack of trust in my heel edge on steeper terrain. problem is i'm good enough that my instructor in Canada doesn't believe me/can't see it.
Spot on
Thanks!
indy is sooo cute😍😍
Totally agree 😍
Great videos as always Malcolm. Gratitude 🙏
Could you maybe explain in another video how or when to use this method you’ve shown here with the others like opening and closing the door style turns where you use your arm and your knees twist to the direction your upper body turns. Is there a specific condition to use either, or a combination of both movements? And what about when you’re riding faster and having deep carves across the slope, same rules apply?
Yeah, I think that video will be soon for sure. But in the meantime this video just covers one of the easiest movements to get. Using just this movement will only take you so far though, namely wide open turns as I demonstrated here. As you move onto steeper terrain you can still use this movement but blend it with using your legs independently to get smaller turns. It's a good movement for 99% of riders, but it does put you in a weak position at the start of the turn, you are high up. This doesn't matter however as the first part of the turn, all you are doing is going with gravity. But it does somewhat mean you are just a passenger on the board. To ride more aggressively and to have the ability to be able to manipulate the arc of the turn whenever you want, that is where down unweighted turns have the edge, as you are in a low down strong position right from the start of every turn! Hope this makes sense for now!
@@malcolmmoore yes, it does. Many thanks for the detailed explanation. I look forward to seeing more videos about this. Much appreciated.
