    Apologies for the sus sound quality, my mic bugged out on recording for whatever reason and I tried to salvage it as much as I could!

    The beauty of the Steamdeck is that it perfectly rides the fence between PC and console gaming. Something none of the other handhelds can claim.

    I bought mine about 1 year after it has been released with only one thing in mind: Retro gaming and emulation. For this objective, there's absolutely no competition as it has enough power for all consoles i want to emulate while keeping a real low power usage. It's just perfect. Oh and the support by the community and VALVE themselves is something no other will have. ASUS for example will drop support for the Ally as soon as a new one comes up next year or something (as they always do).

    • @samssidequest

    I have gained extensive knowledge by diligently watching countless tutorials and exploring various workarounds for my Steam Deck. This device offers incredible versatility, as with some effort, it becomes possible to make virtually anything run on it. The process of discovering and implementing these solutions has been highly educational. Consequently, after curating an impeccable collection of games on my Steam Deck, my focus has shifted from playing them to continually exploring novel and fascinating applications on my computer. This newfound passion for experimenting with diverse capabilities was ignited by my pursuit of customization and optimal performance on the Steam Deck.

    Haven't finished the video yet, but the main reason I purchased a Steam Deck (64GB version and installed a 1TB SSD myself), is because of the emulation possibilities and indie games.
    I already have a very decent PC that runs pretty much everything on High settings, but emulation with a controller connected to your PC is definitely not the best experience. And sure, there are plenty of more "powerful" handhelds out there, but for emulation the Steam Deck is the cheapest, and has the most user friendly ecosystem in my opinion.
    Why pay double if you can run PS3/Xbox 360/Nintendo Switch emulation without any issues? (a few titles excluded) I love my Steam Deck!

    • @samssidequest

    Dude, for me it's the steam OS, the massive amounts of buttons and pads, the endless amounts of customization. It feels like a handheld console not a PC.
    The people that focus on graphics are likely the ones that will never truly be happy as there were surely be a newer and faster one a few months away.
    For me the steam deck much like the switch is a experience. It's like what the Wii u controller should have been. 😆

    Thank god there's support for the SD out there! The toxic comments have already started, my guess (which I think is 110% correct) is that the people that say, "SD is trash now, are people who just got their rog ally today and have never owned a Steam Deck. In a matter of days, it goes from being a well liked and supported to the SD is trash. The gaming community now a days sucks, and I know it's those stupid teenage kids who want to shit on whatever you have. • @samssidequest

      Big reason why I'm such a fan of the deck, the lower wattage performance is killer

  • @CJTheTokay
    @CJTheTokay Год назад +4

    The thing holding me back from buying the deck is performance I was gonna get the rog ally but now I am thinking about the steam deck I am selling my pc for either it has a 1650 the ally is like the exact same performance as the 1650 at max tdp but something about the steam deck is so appealing I can’t decide

    • @samssidequest
      @samssidequest  Год назад

      That is a tough decision, especially because you plan on selling your PC. If I didn't have a PC I honestly might go with the Ally over the Deck because of window's compatibility. The ally at 15+ TDP is a BEAST and has some really impressive performance. Ultimately the poor low wattage performance compared to the Deck and losing SteamOS is the biggest reasons why I decided to cancel my Ally preorder, but I still think it is a great device!

    • @kaiichinose9590
      @kaiichinose9590 Год назад

      I do not own either but I will probably wait until the next version of the steam deck. I want a refresh of the deck with quieter fans and the power of the ally and a display like the ally with its much better brightness and color accuracy. I'm in no rush as I have a top end gaming pc and legion 7 pro laptop with the i712800hx and 3070ti. I normally don't purchase the first year run or version of products. I also believe that the ally will improve over time at lower wattage. The SD didn't start off as good in the beginning so only time will tell. The reason SD performs so well at low wattage is because of its custom chip and OS and optimization. I also hope on the next version of the deck that just maybe we could get an oled panel with slimmer bezels because those thick boys are looking like the first gen switch bezels. Great and unbiased video keep up the great work.

      @@kaiichinose9590 I would love a next-gen Steam deck but they said it won't exist for a few years so we might not even get it until like 2025 the ally 2 will probably be out before then and I really want a portable pc right now so i might go with the ally just because of performance but I'm not sure yet

    • @kaiichinose9590
      @kaiichinose9590 Год назад

      @Void_Raven yeah I hear you on that. Atleast with the ally it can be purchased at best buy and you can get a warranty. I do like the freedom of windows on the ally and maybe after a few more months they can get the low wattage performance on par with the steam deck and if they do ill just get the ally. I have a ton of games in other launchers such as gog and epic as well as steam so I'd hate to not be able to run those on the deck. Some work but not all. I'd like to not have to modify my deck with a bunch of side loading to get it to possibly run those games. Both have pros and cons.

    I find it funny. That all these Steam Deck lovers are coming out of the wood work. Saying how much they love the SD. It’s been out for a year. Nothing but crickets. Now Asus ROG is out and everyone is a SD fan boy. 🤡

      No hidden agenda here, I just love my Steam Deck! The Ally looks like an incredible product too. Competition is great!

      Im not worry with ally came up. No point to go there at the moment. Im just worry that aya neo is coming with track pad same as steam deck with they new design. That is true rival for SD atleast for me. Othewise ill wait till for SD 2 😄

    Thing is absolute garbage. Had it two days. Out of 6 steam deck verified games, two work. GTA V would not work at all. After over 20 hours of messing with it, she played for about 20 minutes. Then crashed and never relaunched again. This thing is a $500 system that can only play games your cell phone can. Unless you are a super experienced gamer who knows coding. Stay away. All these reviews saying it’s great are liars. Then when you go to steam support, they tell you to ask other users. Give me my money back.

    The only thing that's keeping me is that right now I can't afford it but I hope in some months I'll be finally able to buy it without starving in the process 🥹
