      Haha, anytime!! Also try Prussian blue, that’s the one I use the most when making darker greens.

    Thank you for covering Open acrylics! I found out a year ago that for medical reasons I had to stop using oil paints, and I agree that these acrylics are very similar to oil. I also agree that gesso boards are better and the paints glisten, you can see the brush strokes and the finished product is amazing!

      They do work great on gesso board because they stay wet longer and not absorb right away! I’m glad you’re enjoying them.

    I love being able to check in to your RUclips channel & learn something new. Because I'd rather listen to your nice detailed explanation. I bought some open Golden's and haven't tried them yet. So thank you 😊 💓

    🎨Thank you Karim !! I bought some Golden OPEN and like them so I'm glad to get your instructional video on using them . It's a really pretty painting !!
    Are you still transporting your precious cargo as duty calls ? I imagine painting helps to relax you and lets you use your artistic talents.
    I appreciate all your videos and tips. You make it look so easy. My only lament will always be that I'd like to see you doing larger size works -- I think bigger paintings are more stunning but harder for beginners to learn . Your teaching would be a great advantage. 😁
    But thank you for all your videos !!

      Thank you very much!! I’ve done larger painting demos, I believe a couple at least. But the main reason is time constraints, I’d have to do it in multiple steps, especially with oils! With acrylics it’s a little harder to do a large painting because of the drying times, and that to would be in multiple steps, unless it’s very simple subject. I may give it another go at some point though!
      Yes, sometimes I can’t wait to paint, you won’t believe the countless amount of pictures I look at each day and coming up with ideas, Lol!!

      @@GebahiArtworks Yeah I have the problem of trying to come up with what to paint lol. Must be the beginner in me.
      True about bigger paintings and the time and medium constraints. Well at least you have lots of ideas and that's good for making videos. Thanks much! 😁

    How do you prepare you masonite board for painting?

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  4 месяца назад

      You can use 2-3 coats of professional gesso, or you can buy a spray can of B.I.N 123 or Kilz, both are stay blockers and sealers as well! With spray cans you get a nice smooth surface. But you prefer texture, then brush on gesso!

    Do you mix the OPEN with regular acrylics? What BASIC OPEN COLORS are best to have! I like them but they are not cheap !

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  Год назад

      Good question, yes I have from time to time, it just speeds up the drying time! And sometimes I do it because I’m missing a color. For a basic landscape palette I’d use: cad yellow, quinacridone magenta, ultramarine blue, pthalo blue, burnt sienna, burnt umber, and titanium white. With these colors you should be able to achieve a lot of variety! Golden Open sells a landscape color set. I should have a link in my description in some of the videos!

    Open acrylics for me are too watery thin unlike oils

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  Год назад

      That is true, where they shine is when you load your brush and not add too much water, you’ll get a painterly thick stroke! And they are good for blending and glazing.

      @@sujanithtottempudi2991 they are pretty transparent, even a little more than heavy body acrylics. But if you load your brush they are nice to work with! I don’t really prefer them over heavy body acrylics, it’s the opposite!
