This video inspired me to get my first kit and just learn, for no other reason than I wanna be able to express my creativity like this dude can, I’ve been in a band for 2 years now and never plan on stopping
Blur lights in the videodrome from meinl cymbals sessions is one to watch. Way too long for a review at near 40 minutes but really worth it. This guy is so creative.
This guy has a series on his own RUclips channel called “attention deficit drumming” he really pushes the boundaries of modern drumming in these videos. I think you’d really enjoy them even if you don’t react to them
Look for the video of him soloing between 2 kits where he does front flips over both sets of toms/snares to get to the other drum throne. It's gimmicky, but his chops are off the charts to go with it.
He is creative and wild at the same time, check out Exu between him and Justin Chancellor from Tool. BTW if you wanna see how he plays with a band, Night verses are really good

You finally got to Aric Improta. Good stuff. This was some impressive showmanship but you should really take a look at his personal RUclips channel for some of the craziest stuff you've ever seen. Also his band Night Verses has some great tracks. It's always hard to define someone as the best as music is a subjective thing but for my money this guy is the best drummer to ever exist. Not just a generational talent but the G.O.A.T.

If you want to treat yourself listen to Aric Improtas "Blur-Lights in the Videodrome" solo. I saw it live when it was first performed, what a piece. It's probably to long for this format, but imho it's the best drum solo ever created.
This is really the best thing i've ever seen. Just watched it and it totally blew me away! This guy must be possessed by some extraterrestial creature😄 And then he closes with a backflip! INSANE!!!
Real food for thought. I started on a four piece. Ended up 2 kicks snare 7 toms 7 cymbals . Went back to kick snare rack tom 2 floor toms .Hats ride 2 crashes and splash. He has even less and is so expressive .. wish I had my first kit now ! a 60s premier 4 piece . with hats ride and crash ..👍🏻☮❤
I played 3 gigs with 2 bass drums and 5 Tom's. 3 crashes 2 hi hats and 2 China plus ride and 2 splashes. So much gear to move around. Now I play just kick snare floor tom. 2 crashes hi hats ride china stack cymbal and 2 splashes. So good amount of cymbals only 3 piece drums
@@briantopps5638 funny how we go through stages of more or less...i found that with my huge kit I was obliged to hit everything ...bit as I'm no Neil Peart or Nico McBrain I'm better off with less gear .. and it gives more space to the songs .. More like Bonham or Ward ... Peace and love brother 👍🏻☮❤ Not that I'm any where near as talented as any of the above !
Playing loud does have it's uses though. With my old covers band I had to match the volume of 3 4x12 cabs and a vocal speaker system without being microphoned up at all 😂
