That’s likely because he’s ruminated those details from the time they first happened throughout his life, especially in the following weeks and months after.
When you don’t have anyone to process those moments as a young person, you can hyper fixate and relive those moments in your head over and over.

Skip is a King Maker. Pulled Steven A from no man’s land on FOX after leaving ESPN , saved Shannon from the doldrums after being ousted at CBS, gave Jemele Hill a platform to speak truth to power, Cari Champion the first Black Woman to moderate a sports behemoth, and Joy Taylor rescued from local radio in Miami. Skip isn’t the nicest person in the world, but he gave a lot of folks some life changing opportunities. Everyone of these aforementioned individuals have platforms that we can only dream of.

@@MinisterManDan I agree with that assessment. Overall, from this interview and what I recall from what he previously wrote about his early life, he’s always kept his whole family at a distance. Like he mentions how he would more often be at his grandmothers’ and only occasionally would his brother and sister also go. Once he went to college he left and never looked back, while his siblings stayed behind and dealt with their mother, pretty sure he also mentioned never asking them how they felt about either of their parents. All of this also makes sense to me in the way that he used that separation to protect himself growing up. Once Rick took to the kitchen, it was probably easier for a perceived bond to grow between them, his sister was the only girl but based on how he described his mother growing up (vain and self-absorbed, always wanting the attention), I don’t imagine she was doted on too much by her.
Still, only they can speak on their own experiences and perceptions with their family, just as only Skip can speak on his, but it’s clear from Skips’ side he wasn’t very close to them. He built that wall to shield himself, as often happens, and from the other side of it I’m not sure how often Rick has spoken about Skip or their relationship either.

Skip omitted why Shannon said: "I'm in the hall of fame".
That was a direct response to Skip personally attacking him by saying that he was jealous of Brady. Shannon never said that Brady was not great. He was just arguing that Brady was not playing great at that time.

the way Dan shifts his view to the camera when Skip says "the real 23 not that fake 23" made me chuckle. I feel you there Dan, it's like when your Grandparents give ya credit but still tell ya you should've took their advice lol.
I for one got Jordan as the GOAT but always loved LeBron cus I literally feel like I grew up with dude, same with Kobe. I was still YOUNG YOUNG but the time MJ was on his last three peat but I seen so much of him throughout the years being a ball fan/former player before my right knee went to trash that it was just like "Yeah, Mama there goes that bad man" anytime he was on.
Either way Jordan, Kobe, and LeBron all top 5, the real question is the positioning and who everyone's other 2 IMO.

I think that stems from the fact that he always seemed most passionate about the things he was so clearly wrong about, and the only things he was very passionate and right about, were topics that basically everyone universally agreed on. The majority of things he was right about weren’t things he or most people really gave a shit about either way, or that weren’t really debatable or contested in any way.

Skip was the only sports entertainer, who were in the right ballpark predicting how Westbrook would fit into the Lakers' lineup. It took months for Shannon to accept that Skip predicted the scenario correctly, and there must've been multiple debates that Skip won.

I really miss Uncle Skip on television in bra💯and as a black male that was born into trauma I see where the bulk and beginning of Skips trauma comes from as far as his parents and the love not being shown until the black woman came into his life and that’s why he is the way he is to a certain degree that he is and how he acts, and that goes to show you that no matter what race you are trauma does not discriminate at all and is widely among us all💯Salute to Uncle Skip man🙏🏿🙏🏿❤️Great interview
