@ 1:49 We see Neo approaching Trinity after reaching Maximum speed. A rough count of the floors tells she is about 25 to 30 floors off the ground at this point. We will say 25. She jumped from the 65th floor based on in world on screen evidence, security cameras and signs. This means she has fallen 40 floors or approximately 568 feet. The average acceleration of a person in free fall is 9.8 m/s per second, so a fall of 568 feet would take 5.9 seconds and she would be traveling at 58.2 m/s. 58.2 m/s= 130.1897mph. If Trinity is 25 floors above ground, or approximately 355 feet, it would take and additional 1.4 seconds for her to hit the ground traveling at 74.2m/s or 166 mph. In the clip however we see that she takes almost 3 additional seconds to hit the ground, the scene is not slowed down in any way from visible speeds. This would indicate her fall speed to be only around half of what physics tells us it should be. So if we divide 166 mph by 2 we get a fall speed of 83 mph or 38 m/s. If we assume shes 30 floors up she would be traveling 54 m/s or 120.7946 mph @ 1:49 resulting in a mark to ground estimate of an additional 2 seconds free fall. Which as we've determined is more in keeping with what we see. Now if we make a liberal tweak to the math, and reduce the Gravitation Acceleration to 8 m/s per second we get a total fall time of 8.3 seconds, which almost exactly matches what we see. So given the fact that Trinity and Neo can bend rules within the matrix, a slight reduction in gravity's effects seems plausible. This would also result in a final velocity for Trinity at the point of convergence with Neo of 67 m/s or 149.8747 mph. @ 1:52 Trinity comes into frame followed by Neo. In the frame where Neo's hands become visible Trinity is approximately 15 to 20 feet of the ground. We can work this out in two ways, the height of the ground floor behind her, and the length of the car below her. The car is an average to large sedan, putting its length at 14 to 16 feet. If we stand the car on end Trinity is just above it. Neo Is a few feet behind it while its front bumper is directly below Trinity. In the time it takes for Neo to reach Trinity she falls an additional 10 feet, while he travels the entire 20 foot distance, putting his speed as roughly twice that at which she is falling. This would put Neo at approximately 300 mph or less than half the speed of sound which is 761 mph. We see and hear Neo break the sound barrier a few seconds before this, and it wouldn't be the first time he has, when he flew to save Morpheus he traveled at approx 2,200 mph to travel the distance in 14 minutes, but i digress. We can assume then that between the time he broke sound barrier, and reach Trinity he had slowed down and was still decelerating. There is evidence for this in the scenes also. The aforementioned sedan is directly below Neo as he fly's over it, and it clearly moves forward as a result, but it is not ripped into the air and tumbled around, it merely rolls forward before being crushed by the agent. This comparison provides further evidence that Neo has actually decelerated greatly prior to reaching Trinity. Further evidence of this can be found in looking at the Enhanced Fujita Scales used for assessing Tornado's. These state that a wind speed of 111 mph to 135 mph is sufficient to lift a car off the ground and move it. This would infer that the wind being generated by Neo prior to him catching Trinity was in excess of this, which would follow what we see. It also answers the question of whether his flight speed would have that effect, which is would, as he is effectively creating a localized wind vortex within a confined area, somewhat over played for effect perhaps but still within realms of possibility, but, back to the topic at hand. If the car directly below Neo is merely rolled gently forward, it puts the wind speeds at far less that 111 mph. Its not until the pre-existing wind behind Neo catches up to the car that it is blown down the road. To look for further signs of deceleration we can see that Trinity is directly centered in the shot. If you go frame by frame you can see that it takes Neo twice as long to leave frame after catching Trinity as it did to reach Trinity upon entering frame. If we assume he entered frame at 300 mph while decelerating, he could reach Trinity in the time seen and be going as slow as 100 to 150 mph or less on convergence. These numbers may still seem high for real world scenarios, but they seem like survivable speeds for people we have seen take extreme physical punishment. Another small detail i noticed is that when going frame by frame Neo can be seen so swoop in low and upwards to catch trinity before flying away. Also in frame by frame progression you can see instances where he actually appears to pause in mid flight for brief periods, and since this entire argument is based on evidence from a movie in a fictional world, I chose to include these as elements of proof of extreme deceleration. In closing, I agree, the speeds involved would result in the likely but not guaranteed death of a normal person. There are documented cases of people surviving falls after reaching terminal velocity, which is 150 - 180 mph based on drag and wind factors. Which is higher than our estimated convergence speed. When we take mitigating factors into account such as Greater Physical Endurance and Strength of our heroes, The suspected reduced gravitation forces, and the fact the Neo was clearly exhibiting actions intended to reduce impact damage to Trinity I personally feel that we can assume that within the confines of the movie that Trinity could possibly survive a high speed "catch". We are also never told that her being caught didn't add to her injuries sustained in the fight. In closing i think the scenario is possible given the rules of the matrix combined with the rules of physics and a small smattering of suspension of disbelieve. I definitely do not think it is a total immersion breaker however, and regardless of the potential injuries catching her might inflict, to Neo, that's preferable than letting her eat pavement. TLDR: It's a movie that fucks with physics, and this is what you have a problem believing?
I always loved that scene at 1:43 where in the real world he clutches his arm rest a bit. Always thought that he broke both matrix and real world barriers
@@gersonpaulo8900 He did break the sound barrier, you can hear a loud boom when you see Neo start going at his complete fastest meaning he was going past the speed of sound which is Mach 1 or 900 MPH if I'm not mistaken.
This is where Neo IMPRINTED the anomaly code into Trinity. She is part of the Matrix loop now. She has always been part of the code, Remember it was her KISS that awaken Neo from death after Agent Smith killed him.
It wasn't the kiss itself. It was the kiss being an execution retirement for the prophecy of the one (ie a program in the matrix) to be in effect. The kiss "activated" The One program and resurrected Neo. There is no "anomaly code." The latest matrix was made up with no regard to pre-existing lore.
Legend has it the city is still cleaning up the miles and miles of mess of cars and broken glass Neo left behind flying down that boulevard to get to Trinity.
This was simply so badass, not only because he was saving the woman he loved, but the sheer speed he was flying. Neo was flying so fast that he was creating a vortex behind him. I'm sure if he flew even faster than he already was, he could probably time travel.
Last I checked, The Matrix doesn’t work the same way as the DC universe. Neo can fly as fast as he wants but there’s no evidence that indicates you could manipulate time and space just by going unbelievably extremely fast.
It still amazes me how Trinity keeps this stoic look on her face the whole trilogy… She grimaced after getting thrown against the wall. She realized quick “I’m showing emotions… Gotta wipe that off my face quick” then eats a few more punches unfazed😂😂😂😂😂😂
@user-kv7ig2rr6x She actually maybe has the hardest acting job in the whole trilogy, especially in movie one, where she has to do so much background acting. To sell that she's in love with Neo, which goes back to before they found him.
I think when Neo was getting near and nearer to Trinity, he decelerated a little to avoid smashing onto her like a bullet. That explains the car [the one where the agent falls after Neo catches Trinity] didn't move from its original point until the force behind Neo swept everything away
Well, considering he can change code within the matrix at will, its not a big deal to change trinity's relative velocity once he is close or in contact with her, so no acceleration, so no damage.

That agent really wanted the kill, I mean, she was already falling to her death as far as he knew, but he commited and jumped right after her to make sure he landed the killing shot. He is a man of commitment and sheer fucking will.
I suppose the Jump programme suggests that falling isn't necessarily fatal to those in the know, and as agents can just respawn after death, it'd be the logical thing to do
I think it's showing that these upgraded agents are way more aggressive and single minded than the ones in the first movie, not caring much about collateral damage, etc. One of the agent's in the first movie would have probably just walked to the window to watch her fall and confirm her assumed death.
Notice at 1:03, when Neo rockets out of the tower. You can see a pulse in the flow of the matrix code on the far right screen, which Morpheus points out. Superb attention to detail!
it also gives us the moment in the trilogy where Neo actually does break the rules and changes the stakes of the cycle by copying the matrix anomaly code to Trinity to resurrect her RDI, which is built upon in Resurrections. Plus its a really great cinematic moment as well.
Mind blown moment: this is the first REAL choice Neo ever makes in the trilogy. All the Ones before him chose humankind in a general way, so they went along with The Architect, Neo chooses Trinity specifically and goes "off script" to save her. All bets are off from that point. From the beginning of The Matrix until he leaves that room, he's basically just being "herded" by The Architect and The Oracle (The Matrix itself if you will), like everyone before him.
@@JT-xj1pg It looks like a choice, but my point is he has to save Morpheus to become The One. He's in a system that kidnaps Morpheus so he can go through the motions of saving him and "become" The One, so he can find the Architect like everyone did before him. You can can call it "fate", you can call it "planned", but The Matrix obviously knows that if they kidnap Morpheus, he will rescue him. The Oracle even plants it in his mind: "On the one hand you'll have Morpheus' life and in the other your own". She is basically just saying "you will do this heroic thing and you will "become" The One and we will lead you to The Architect eventually". It's all in his code already.
Nope. Neo's 'choice' was orchestrated by the Oracle. She set everything in motion for him to break the cycle out of love, a concept she learned to understand after observing humanity for so long.
@Black Rhino Martial Arts You shouldn't really say yes or no. @blackrhinomartialarts9298 What’s hilarious is that you are just as confused as the architect. The oracle doesn’t run things. Neither does Neo.
It's in a simulated world so maybe the physics were fucked by Neo or just wacky just by itself

This was simply so badass, not only because he was saving the woman he loved, but the sheer speed he was flying. Neo was flying so fast that he was creating a vortex behind him. I'm sure if he flew even faster than he already was, he could probably time travel.
I'm not sure if he could in the Matrix. It's not the really world. It doesn't really have a past to go back to.
@@christophergarcia3695 yeah you’re right about that, but hey you never know 🤷🏿♂️

Everyone: Dude! How did she not shatter into pieces due to inertia when Neo caught her at that speed?
Neo: I’m The One bitches! That’s how
I think when Neo was getting near and nearer to Trinity, he decelerated a little to avoid smashing onto her like a bullet. That explains the car [the one where the agent falls after Neo catches Trinity] didn't move from its original point until the force behind Neo swept everything away
@@shivramkarthik2882 true

This trilogy is one of the best in movie history
0:29 look at that beautiful transition, the compartmentalized sounds of the guns locking and loading to unleash hot led as she orbs her body around and begins burning back at the agent. Pure early 00s!!!!!

Resurrections is fucking garbage it was like a parody of itself
Lev Mirov After watching Resurrections I was thinking of jumping out of the window like this video.
it also gives us the moment in the trilogy where Neo actually does break the rules and changes the stakes of the cycle by copying the matrix anomaly code to Trinity to resurrect her RDI, which is built upon in Resurrections.
Also saving morpheus in the first film is clearly a choice of his smh you didn't pay attention
Like any good work with philosophy, it's not really telling you this is the way it is, but rather starting a discussion that can have many different interpretations. In this case, about free will vs determinism. Your theory about 'soft determinism' is a good interpretation, but certainly not the only or 'correct' interpretation.
@blackrhinomartialarts9298 What’s hilarious is that you are just as confused as the architect. The oracle doesn’t run things. Neither does Neo. He is superordinate to her, but it is actually the super computer he plugs into at the end that controls everything, but he desires the spirit Neo has before he resets everything.
