Every amateur golfer must watch this video (unless they are playing against me!). I used to thin or fat most shots. This drill and the “Ultimate Ball Striking” program has improved my iron play exponentially. Thanks Chris. I love your logical and well-explained approach.
Very nice. I found this video helpful because it gave guidance on how to achieve the downward strike with irons in sequential steps. One of the most helpful hinta I have ever seen.
Hey Chris, first game yesterday after the lockdown in France. Have been practicing this drill at home. Yesterday I hit the ball better than I ever have. Will be continuing!! Thanks again.
Lightbulb lit- thank you! FYI - I struggled with your videos at first but your brief, well organized, and direct to the point presentations shows how much preparation you do before shooting as you never ramble on! One of the best and much appreciated.
I have watched all of the impact drill vids on youtube and this is the best impact drill by far. The 4 stages of controlling impact is what makes this the best. Mastering impact fixes all the common swing flaws. Awesome job. I see you switch from the 6 and 7 iron for iron vids... Which is your favorite iron to swing?
I know this is not politically correct, but truth be told the concept of weight forward at impact is absolutely right and a fundamental of the Stack & Tilt system.
I just discovered your channel. I love this lesson and will be implementing it into my home practice during the winter months!! Instant subscriber which I don’t do often.
Awesome video Chris, I’ve been practising for over 30 mins and the results are consistently better than my previous strikes. My only complaint is “Why haven’t you told me this before?”!!!! 😃 Thank you!
i like many others chris have many swing thoughts but im going to give this drill a real go, I do struggle with my impact im sure this is going to help. Thanks for all your great videos.
Hi Chris! Thanks for all your terrific videos that have helped me in many ways. Would you, could you possibly due a review of the DST 8I curved Impact training club that puts the golfer in the perfect impact position that you discussed here, & that many PGA Tour professionals have been using?
@@ChrisRyanGolf a lot of your videos certainly apply to my game and will hopefully help me to play more consistently in the future. It gets harder year by year but the enjoyment of being on the course and trying your best will always remain. Thanks for the tips .
I really like this drill and going to add to my practice !! The only problem I have is my practice range at my course has only mats and not really allowed to hit balls anywhere else !! Any suggestions hits it off mats because i really love this 4 step drill !!
I've been struggling with thinking during the swing. I can't wait to try this process. I've also been struggling with fat shots and this seems it will address that fault as well.
Thanks improved my ball striking but all left of my target with good close dispersion. Question, should I just aim left of target or should I try to alter my swing.
Hey Jamie, yeah the same drill would work, not quite as good but if you remove the line then the strike was a little early, so can still get the feedback 👍
I really like your Videos Chris. When Boris allows if really like to book a 1-2-1 lesson - assuming you still do this. I’ve looked online though and can’t seem to get a date.
Yeah I think that will be the case of many watching. The same drill works, spray the mat, abs try to land the club target side of that line. If you remove the white chalk then it was probably a little heavy. Not quite as good in terms of the feedback but the skills can be trained in the same way
Chris, why would the task of hitting the line at full speed be any different than hitting the ball at full speed ? Would it work, when playing, to imagine a line instead of thinking of hitting the ball ?
Hey Jeff, I think it would help quite a bit. The problem when looking at the ball is that we tend to look at the top of it, when in fact we need the sole of the club to strike the ground rather than the top of the ball. Only a small adjustment but can make a big difference 👍

the way you simplify and explain things is perfect, thank you!

Thanks Paul appreciate it and glad it helped

Love it! Great to hear Neill

Thanks and appreciate that. I’d certainly hope that over the years they have become a little more refined and polished. 👍
Watched this vídeo this morning. I tried on the course on all my iron shots, 120m in. Worked very well for me.
Thanks.
Great to hear 👊
Chris you are the best for teaching !! ( I’m from Montreal,Canada)
Thanks and glad you liked the video
Tell you what Chris I watch loads of vids trying to learn but that is by far the simplest way and easy to follow vid yet .can't wait to try it thanks
Thanks Gordon appreciate the comments and glad you enjoyed the vid. Great ball striking here you come!!
I wondered what you were going to come out with next and this is brilliant Chris, well done and thank you.
Thanks and glad you enjoyed it 👍
Brilliant, been working on this on my own, but hadn’t worked out stage one properly. Start again tomorrow now you’ve shown the way.
Thanks Martin glad it’s helped

Thanks Chad and yes certainly lots of this can be done at home to begin with 👍
@@ChrisRyanGolf thanks for your quick response. Hopefully this will also help with me hitting the ball off the toe like I always do.
Excellent advice as always Chris, and yes I have always struggled with swing thoughts. So thank you again.
Thanks Neill, this should be a great one for you then 👍
perfect lesson from the best coach on youtube
Thanks Francis appreciate that
Such a great set of drills my coach had me do this all Winter 2 years ago... 100% worth the time and effort
Great to hear Martin and the winter is a great time to drill this in

😂😂thanks Robert, have to hold some of the good stuff back 😂
i like many others chris have many swing thoughts but im going to give this drill a real go, I do struggle with my impact im sure this is going to help. Thanks for all your great videos.
Thanks Pat hope it does help for you, and in this drill a really good idea to keep those thoughts to a minimum and focus on the task, should help 👍
Great training lesson. Giving some constructive practice tips. 👍. As ever very simple and well explained. Thanks
Thanks Mike 👍

Top stuff Chris feel is alway the best way to learn for me!
Thanks Danny, I agree, lots work better with feels 👍
Fantastic drill . Let's hope we can soon go somewhere to try it out .
Let’s hope so Ian, with any luck we are only just over a few weeks away from facilities re opening 👍

Yeah it’s a little tougher from range mats, but the same drill will work, just place the line and go through the 4 steps. 👍
I've been struggling with thinking during the swing. I can't wait to try this process. I've also been struggling with fat shots and this seems it will address that fault as well.
Thanks George and hope it helps 👍
Another good one. Wondering if you could do one on putting between 6 and 20 feet as I can't seem to make anything around that range 🙏
Thanks improved my ball striking but all left of my target with good close dispersion. Question, should I just aim left of target or should I try to alter my swing.
Great drill Chris, just like the bunker drill with the line, but just in the fairway nice one
Chris? I have a wider sole club and taking a divot can be difficult sometimes. Do you have any advice for someone with wider soled clubs?
Superb drill, Chris!
Thanks Martin 👍
I think I might be able use the first part of this drill on course to measure my best distance each time from the ball.
Great stuff, Chris. Would there be a way to do something similar on a practice mat where you can't take divots? Thanks!
Hey Jamie, yeah the same drill would work, not quite as good but if you remove the line then the strike was a little early, so can still get the feedback 👍
@@ChrisRyanGolf makes sense. A similar drill is placing a towel down behind the ball and trying to miss the towel
Great video... Thanks Chris
I Love your jumper.. 😘 and the vid is super as always 👍
Thanks Craig, Lyle & Scott is the jumper 👊
Great instruction, great divot....what iron was that?
This was a 7 iron 👍
Great video Chris..would like to try that with driver?
More for the iron clubs this one, may cause a few issues with the driver
Your drills are too good. Great coach
Thanks Joe
Thx Chris!
Will this exercise work with hybrids?
Great video
Going to do this next time I'm at the range
Hope it helps 👍
This is excellent!
Thanks and glad it had some value for you

Yes let’s hope he opens courses in December, just in time for the snow abs ice 😂. Not too sure when coaching sessions will be able to resume though
great drill but most of us can only practice on range mats, so how could I adopt this to work of a mat?
Yeah I think that will be the case of many watching. The same drill works, spray the mat, abs try to land the club target side of that line. If you remove the white chalk then it was probably a little heavy. Not quite as good in terms of the feedback but the skills can be trained in the same way

Great idea just very impractical for UK where there is no ranges that are grass to draw a line on
Works well from a range mat too, if the line has been removed then the strike was too early. Not quite as good but still great exercise to do 👍
I need that quarter zip shirt! What brand? Thanks for all the god content!!
It’s great isn’t it? Lyle & Scott is the brand of clothing 👍
@@ChrisRyanGolf Thanks Chris, Christmas gift added friend!
Sorry meant to say, should I just aim -right- of my target rather than alter my swing
The best way to get Good at Golf is to hit 20-80yd wedges with 3 different length back and thro swings But only Good Golfers practice this!
Hackers just want to be whackers! I used to be one!
