Very good explanation by comparing “average golfer with elite golfer”. Most youtube films is about pro swings and can possibly lead to difficulties unless you are not aware about necessary conditions in order to make it work. Thank you Chris.
By far one of the best teachers on RUclips. Thanks for the tips. It’s been real handy watching these after not having a good round. Good for a reset 👍🏼
Chris, thanks so much for this detailed video with the 3 stages of drill. That really help. You are one of the best golf instructors I have seen on RUclips. Instructions are always so clear and professional. I kept telling my golf friends to watch your videos .
yet anOTHER fantastic video. You always provide a well thought-out (and much NEEDED) approach to the problems we amateurs face each and every day. Thanks so much!!
Chris I watched your instructional video , went straight to the range, and what a difference, Now after playing just one round, I don’t think I pushed one ball right, especially my long irons, big thank you, Darran
Chris on stage number 1, pointing the tee to ball, in the way through have you allowed your lead wrist to go into extension by the time the tee peg points down to the ball? Myles
Thank You for your most practical and easy to follow u tube instructions, very helpful, Great information. Chris have you ever done a frontal slow motion on your swing instructions? I’ve tried following you on your demonstration, but it would be very helpful for some of us to actually see the actual moves in slow motions. I’m a fan of yours and well be for a very long time. Thanks again for your time and your inspiration. Bob
Your vids are great. I had 4 lessons over the spring/summer, the first lessons in 30 years which really started to help play the damn game properly. Finally. You are finishing the downswing job!. I spray white lines on the floor (practice area) and now my divots come after it! Hello!
I really enjoyed this video - would love something similar with the driver I struggle with "attacking" the ball to soon getting out to in path and early extension. Hope you can explain how to get the feel to position the driver "in the slot" in the downswing
As usual excellent visual video, coupled with your easy to follow instructions. Also notice you have very good swing tempo, which is something I struggle with during a round. Would you have any drills to help with tempo?
You have a different release video where you emphasize getting the club head as far away from you as possible when releasing. Were there issues with that drill that are resolved with this one? Or is that one valid as well?
I struggled with this problem for years and share what works best: 1. Stage 1 warm up on the range hitting a few balls like Chris suggests BUT keeping your feet together. Thus, no hip movement, hardly any shoulders and knees movement. This isolates everything and makes you do the "roll release" so needed for 99% of us. The point is to over exaggerate the move and close the club face with your wrists. 2. Awareness that you must deliberately close the club face on the downswing. Many amateurs think a stronger grip is enough. It,s not. Without knowing this (not much said about it) you're doomed to close the club face with your body, not hands. As a result, out-in swing path and a chicken wing release. Hence, use your wrist (rolling over not flipping!) and you'll get the pro release! Verified))
I have release problems bc I was taught to let the club go out long towards the target, so arm never rotates. Will try this on range. Assume this applies to driver also.
As a newbie.. I watch these moves ( standing straight up while swinging) and others like it.. and I start trying to hit the ball standing up... bad bad bad... all practice movements should be with the correct lean...so we get good impact.
Excellent content as usual, Chris! Especially as how my transition and my release are my 2 areas for improvement this off season. Question though: This seems to be aimed at making my left arm have all the feels through impact, whereas me, personally, all my downswing and impact feel comes through my right forearm/wrist. How can I adapt this to train my right arm what to do?
My feels are in my right hand also my coach got me doing a similar drill but instead hold the club just in your right hand. hold it toe up to the sky on the right side of your body arm extended with the club parallel to the ground then swing it through letting the momentum of the club do the work to your left side with the toe up at parallel to the ground also. Worked a treat for me playing the best golf of my life at the moment purely from that feel. Hope that helps 👍🏼
@@blakejago2812 it does help. Thank you! It took a few swings to get rid of the "holding on" feel, allowing the club head to pass my hands. It's also ironic how Chris's latest upload is a video focused on the trail arm going into impact 🤣
Thank you Chris. Enjoyed the video. Something that came to mind while I was watching this was my root cause for chicken wing. My inability to rotate my hips fast or far enough in a consistent manner may be my cause. If I rotate too slowly, my mind automatically realizes that I will be too close to the ball and instinctively I try to compennsate by pulling my hands towards my chest so I do not strike behind the ball, hence the chicken wing. If I rotate too fast or far or perfectly, and my ingrained thought is to pull my hands towards my chest, I may skull it. Would this be a logical explanation of my problem? How do I teach my body to rotate far enough and fast enough such that the club will not be manipulated by my shriveled brain, lol?
This is maybe not the root cause i think. Seeing a golf pro would be the best option. But maybe you could do strike drills and educate your hands to straighten to impact and hit down on the ball. Maybe your body would support that movement?
people would just practice like this on range.they would super drives how i did it as kid i practiced hitting it over barn 300 yards away after i did that i went for oak trees behind the barn that meant i had to hit ball high enough to get it over top giant oak trees over 300 yards away.i was strong as bull busting cutting wood all i did started yoga then i went over them.My saying always been want to drive with me got to be as limber as dish rag
Hey, think I’ve been positing videos on here for around 7 years now and can honestly say I’ve never removed a comment, post it again below 👇 More than happy for others to have differing views
Thanks chris that was for me the missing link , cheers
A little over 2 years into golfing now and just broke 90 a few weeks ago! Just want to thank you for all your videos 👊🏼
That’s another good video - simple and easy to understand - thanks

grazie Chris i tuoi tutorial sono chiari e semplici da mettere in pratica. bravo e grazie
Chris I watched your instructional video , went straight to the range, and what a difference,
Now after playing just one round, I don’t think I pushed one ball right, especially my long irons, big thank you, Darran
This worked! Now, to put it all together.... that's the challenge
Chris on stage number 1, pointing the tee to ball, in the way through have you allowed your lead wrist to go into extension by the time the tee peg points down to the ball? Myles
It helped me a lot, thanks Chris

Hi,this video should participate in the world off golf videos, as top 10.its like a must.thank you sr
Another winner great explanation. Thanks Chris.
Back to basics .. which we all need .. great way to get there .. have to add it in ... as always .. Happy New Year and thanks CR for a successful 2021
Excellent tutorial Chris. Thanks
Thank you. I will try this on driving range tomorrow. :)

I am going to take this drill to the range then to the course tomorrow. Thanks Chris. Your videos and tips are phenomenal.
Did it work?! Lol
Good Info.....Jim Flick and Bob Toski were proponents of this drill
Excellent Video, I need to work on this.
Thanks Scott
Thanks Chris, nicely explanation👍
Another great tip Chris thanks
Club head control is my problem, this should help, very easy to understand
Once again excellent as always as well as I would say "crispness of picture/video quality. The golf course is lovely too.
Thanks appreciate that, course always looks a little ‘wintery’ this time of year but glad it still looks good
I really enjoyed this video - would love something similar with the driver I struggle with "attacking" the ball to soon getting out to in path and early extension.
Hope you can explain how to get the feel to position the driver "in the slot" in the downswing
Chris's video from October is a nice approach to addressing early extension/getting "in the slot" - ruclips.net/video/tWZ1fcXYeZM/видео.html
I have no problem releasing my irons. However I do have trouble with driver. Is it the same for irons and driver - or is there other considerations?
I tried it but struggling with the consistency of either too opening or too closing the club face, any tips on this?
As usual excellent visual video, coupled with your easy to follow instructions. Also notice you have very good swing tempo, which is something I struggle with during a round. Would you have any drills to help with tempo?
Will this also apply to the modern release? The style that is more of a snap of the wrist instead of rolling release.
This looks like me 😁. I'm trying your drills out tomorrow. Thanks for the tips
Quick question Chris, are you maintaining a flat or bowed left wrist through impact with this move?
You have a different release video where you emphasize getting the club head as far away from you as possible when releasing. Were there issues with that drill that are resolved with this one? Or is that one valid as well?
Thank you!
How do you marry this movement with palm down to the ground as you do in another video?
This is the very thing I worked on in my last lesson. I’m a chronic chicken-winger. Your content came out at the perfect time! 👍
Excellent 👍
What if u have a passive release? Or when will u do a vid on modern release?
How does Chris not have more subscribers?
😁Thanks Seb, one or two more would be nice

Does this drill work with the driver?
Does this also work for a driver?

Yeah that move would definitely impact your release, hope this drill works for you

Can this be used for Driver?
Yes absolutely works just as well
