The Mrs and I were lucky enough to meet Dolph Lundgren at a con in Melbourne, Australia in 2015. He was the nicest and kindest guy you could imagine. I was able to say everything that I’d been waiting nearly 30 years to say in about 12 seconds without fanboying out on him.
I told him he’d always be He-man to me and that he was perfectly cast. I thanked him for the memories and for being my hero all these years. He seemed genuinely appreciative and signed my MOTU movie poster. He even remembered us later on when we crossed paths again and said he said hi.
He was every part the He-man I’d always hoped he’d be.
They say don’t meet your heroes in case you’re disappointed, but they weren’t talking about Dolph Lundgren.

Don’t care what anyone says, Dolph was perfect casting for He-man at that time.
And Frank’s Skeletor is THE BEST! He’s mean, he’s scary, he’s pissed off and Darth Vader’s got nothing on this version of Skeletor!

Agreed. The problem with this movie isn't He-Man or Skeletor it's everyone else (except Meg Foster as Evil-Lyn she was fabulous). Teela and Man at Arms are almost unrecognizable and underused. Almost no other characters from the cartoon are in it. And the majority of the plot revolves around two incredibly boring teens. Setting it on Earth was a huge mistake.

@@sbird8675 Yeah, but at the time, and probably still now, Hollywood was all about the whole foolish idea that humanity would always come out on top, every time, no matter what. Why set an epic movie about Eternians on Eternia and not on Earth instead? But we still got a scary as hell (to a 7 year old when I saw it) Skeletor in live action.

Also, everyone forgets that Dolph Lundgren is a super-intelligent college professor who speaks 8 languages.
Dude is actually brilliant, he just isn't great at acting while trying to hide his accent.

This movie was great. I'm a big fan of He-man and I could understand the limitations they faced to make this movie. I know it hadn't almost anything related to the series, but it was more related to the HQ. I think they made they come to Earth because it was cheaper to film and it would make a but more compelling (although I would prefer Eternia but, well.. money talks)

Dolph Lundgren once did an interview for Swedish television in which he had to switch to English because he had forgotten his mother tongue.
If the English in this film was what he gained, I’m afraid he got a bad deal.
