subtract the Queen music everyone loves and you're left with a mediocre and inaccurate movie whitewashing all of Freddie Mercuries shortcomings.
True fact, the producers first told the director "keep this movie child friendly" but later when the film was half finished they said "do whatever you want including adding violence, our company is going bakrupt and we need this movie to be a hit"
To which the director probably asked for more money to actually finish it and im assuming that was just met with laughter

Ladies & Gentlemen, legendary actor Frank Langella's favorite role!
....No, seriously, it was. He took the role of Skeletor because his child loved He-Man. Has said in interviews that he had a ball making this movie.
Was it a blockbuster? No, but it does look like it was fun to make.
He chewed so much scenery in it, it would be hard *not* to have fun being Skeletor in that film. He's like the one perfect part of the movie.
The film is definitely all about Skeletor for me.
He was clearly enjoying himself. His Skeletor and Raul Julia’s M. Bison transcend their films by light years.
The Mrs and I were lucky enough to meet Dolph Lundgren at a con in Melbourne, Australia in 2015. He was the nicest and kindest guy you could imagine. I was able to say everything that I’d been waiting nearly 30 years to say in about 12 seconds without fanboying out on him.
I told him he’d always be He-man to me and that he was perfectly cast. I thanked him for the memories and for being my hero all these years. He seemed genuinely appreciative and signed my MOTU movie poster. He even remembered us later on when we crossed paths again and said he said hi.
He was every part the He-man I’d always hoped he’d be.
They say don’t meet your heroes in case you’re disappointed, but they weren’t talking about Dolph Lundgren.

Its been years since I've seen the movie but IIRC it was something she did or wanted that caused them to be on the plane in the first place so she blamed herself.
When loved ones die like that, you're always struggling for a reason. Her reaction is actually pretty realistic.
@@NavyGuy2OO7 They wanted to go to the beach as a family thing. She wanted to play on the holodeck with Tom Paris and told them she had to study. So her parents decided to rent a plane and her dad Johnny Denvered into a mountain or something.

Frank Langella was wonderful in this. I've read that he did it for his grandkids (or was it his kids?). He obviously had a lot of fun with it!

Right? It's been awhile, so I don't remember, but I think Gwildor was a new addition to the toys thanks to the movie. They probably did that to promote the new figure. I have him somewhere.

Yeah, he even had a scholarship at MIT that he gave up to become Grace Jones' bodyguard, which then got him into "acting".
Paraphrase Spider-Man;

Dispite the low quality of the movie (still one of my childhood favorites) the soundtrack was great and deserves praise for it being way better than it should be.
I'd soon rather watch Short Circuit 2 while having my eyes stabbed with a spoon that ever watch this garbage again

Glad to see you picked up on the principal from BTTF dropping swears in a kids movie. So Mattel weren't happy with He-Man killing anyone, but swearing and a pretty hardcore S&M scene. Yeah, go nuts guys....
I have to say this - I completely loved this film when I was a kid. This film brought a smile to my face.
This movie definitely has major problems but Langella's Skeletor is expertly acted. Easily the high point of the movie.
Seriously, he is the reason that this bad movie is actually watchable
I don't have a source on hand but I've heard more than once that it was apparently his favorite role he's ever done. I guess because he just got to have fun with it.

Frank Langella's Skeletor is so awesome in this.
He knocks the other actors off the screen with his intensity.
And it is not easy to knock Meg Foster out of my brain, she has those hypnotic witch eyes.
I read he loved doing this character precisely because he got to do a dumb over the top villain

I think it's the best performance of any villain in a movie along with Daniel Day Lewis as Bill the Butcher
I just find it funny that Skelator's face prosthetic from this film was reused for a Holodeck character that Worf fights in Star Trek TNG.
Making it the second Trek connection this movie has.

When I was a kid the holy trinity of 80s fantasy was Legend, Krull and Masters of the Universe
I love Krull. The spider scene always creeped me out as a kid but such a fun movie, especially with the shapeshifter.
Legend still holds up today. Love it. The practical effects were on point and Tim Curry was a master as Darkness. Best villain ever.
And Dragonslayer, Labyrinth, Willow, Star Wars, The Dark Crystal, Heavy Metal, etc are easily better than Masters of the Gayman.

I still wish Arnold's son would take up the mantle of Conan some day.
Either that or Arnold plays as old Conan after he's king and goes out Logan style as his final performance. Because let's face it he's too old now to go back to playing young Conan unless they go full CGI like in Terminator Genesys which was a disaster.

Masters of the Universe is to He-Man what Batman 89 is to Batman. A pretty cool movie that doesn't resemble the source material that much. The end fight was absolutely epic though.

Yes, but he makes a great Russian! By Hollywood's rules, anyone with an accent can play any part with _any_ accent! (Of course, 60-70% of ancient Romans, Greeks, etc. spoke with a High English Accent!)
This movie didn't showcase him well at all. I wonder though, who would have been a better '87 He-Man.. young Dolph or young Arnold? I loved Arnold as Conan.
Such a shame that a man so intelligent in life has zero acting capability.

And yes, Hollywood has a long history of interesting casting choices. Nothing quite beats John Wayne playing Genghis Khan, though.

Apparently this is Frank Langellas favorite movie hes ever been in.
The worst part of this whole thing was when they cleaned up by putting the trash and perfectly good oranges together in the sink. Truly triggered.

I literally watched this movie last night. I was a huge fan of He-man as a kid and watched this vhs all the time. Rewatching it as an adult, I have to say it wasn't that bad. It was midnight and I was hitting the bong pretty hard though. I love the honest trailers family, you are all great. Thank you.
How come noone has realized that this movie simply is Voyagers' Tom Paris (Robert Duncan McNeill) trapped on a faulty holo deck...
3:50 Trivia: The after credits scene wasn't in the screenplay. It was director Gary Goddard's idea. Gary Goddard had BOSS Studios prepare a vat of pink liquid. Goddard talked to Frank Langella and told him what he wanted him to do and that he was to get into the pink liquid wearing his skull mask and he was to surface, look at the camera and say the line "I'll be back!". Frank Langella agreed to do it and it was done in 1 take.
