- Exactly two decades ago the members of dcTalk went solo, Kevin Max unveiled his album 'Stereotype Be' album to the world.. The album developed a cult like following and the first Live shows were treated like massive showcases. In 2001, Kevin Max headlined Creation Festival with a set that confounded and excited an audience that was treated to the first solo show and Stereotype Be performance. Here is an excerpt from the concert- including band members Erick Cole, Mark Townsend, Tony Lucido, Rick May & Johnny Mac ( Luna Halo ).

The youth group kiddos at Creation didn't know the brilliance that was hitting them with this.
No one sings like a Kevin. No one!!
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me is a Masterpiece !
Yes!!
Woah haven’t seen this was posted until just now.
Stereotype Be was so influential to me as a young musician, and still inspirational now as an old ish musician and songwriter. Much love K Max ❤️❤️
Always loved Kevin from the beginning, one of a kind voice and soul
Greatest christian singer of all times and possibly one of the greatest singers ever!
Mr. Max, you are the Freddie of my world. Never stop singing brother.
If I couldn't see the words under this video and close my eyes I would tell you 110% that is Freddie Mercury
@@adamgrieco 🤣, is Freddie
Yes he is
Greatest singer of all time.
Hold me Thrill Me Kiss me Kill Me is such an amazing performance and a song that I have never heard before!
It’s a u2 song . He rocked it
Wait..what! Never heard? It's a huge U2 song!
Thank you so much for sharing this! What a voice man! 🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱
Kevin tu increíble voz que extremece el alma, por siempre escucharé tus hermosas letras y melodias.😍 Saludos desde Colombia 🇨🇴
Kevin, your incredible voice that reaches the soul, I will always hear your beautiful lyrics and melodies. Greetings from Colombia 🇨🇴😉
I seen you at Soulfest in 2013 with Audio Adrenaline when my band was playing there.
Dude you're a legend! 🙇♂️
Wow, the background vocalist's voice was a perfect match for Kevin's.
Love this! Thank you for sharing. Never seen you live. You hardly ever come to Houston. Rockafeller’s would be a great venue for you!
Good set. Existence is my favorite song off Stereotype Be, and it was nice to see Coffee pop by to do his rap part. And I could understand more of what he was saying than on the recorded version.
This was so fun to watch, thanks for uploading
Its gonna be great! Kevin rocks!!!
Thanks for sharing this! What a classic show
Kevin Is such a talent Man!
I was there!! So good to see this again!!!
Love this so much.
Yeah!! Waiting for it!
I Don't belong and Angel with no Wings are some of my fav Kmax songs!
I Can't wait
Love Creation fest. Would love to see you back there.
this is awesome!
Queen
This is the first time I've seen this, and WOW what a Queen pull at the beginning!
This is fabulous. Kevin at his peak
Lovely
Kevin. Queremos otra grabación en vivo!!!
We won’t another alive album!!
Roflmao I remember when he was every girl's favorite member of DC Talk. Good times!
Brazil..
Nós
Tutti siamo
You rock!
I was there
That was one of the best covers of HMKMKMTM I’ve heard. Whew.
Best songs
Incrível 😊
Favorite in this set is "My Existence'
He sometimes sounds exactly like Freddy Mercury.
That was a fun one - I think they had 104,000 people there.. good times!
Wow amazing 😊🙌💜memories from creation. 🙏 was this creation west?
So good to hear some "Mayday", Rick May, grooving to some non-DC Talk. He's missed for sure!
will the rest of the show be uploaded ?
This is not a song that is meant to be at Creation.
Hey Kevin, is there some subliminal and maybe even subconscious tension with the evangelical/fundamentalist church in I Don't Belong?
yes, always.
@@sirkevinmax I just asked the same question on Twitter because I wasn't sure how often you checked here lmao
But yeah, knew it. As a kid, and an evangelical myself, I took it on the surface level of a romantic breakup. But listening last night, and hearing the lines,
"You made me a prince
You made me a pauper
Then you turned around and closed the gate
Even though I messed up
There wasn't an offer, love
No mercy, no grace"
I was like, "gee, that sounds like my experience with the chur- ohhhhhhhh"
Also just wanna say Stereotype Be remains a masterpiece and is probably directly responsible for turning me on to non-blues based music. All your work is phenomenal but that album is particularly and criminally slept on.
Good luck with Sad Astronauts, I love the vibe you've got going there.
The Queen influence is very strong plus middle Eastern sound
Cool beans babe🥳💋
Very cool seeing this early solo performance. But, yikes, they didn't know what hit them.
Voice like Freddie Mercury
What is this, what is this, this mess of my existence is
All these politics of life and death and relevance
It's my existence
Hey has very little freddy guys I here what your saying but much more of John Lennon Elvis Presley with a hint of freddy but also his own vibrato that he sometimes gets to carried away with I love the older stuff and new stuff just sucks in my opinion I wish you would go back to making normal music but I do love the guy and his music is pretty phenomenal just not digging in your stuff whatsoever a little to experimental for me ever in life quite a few times playing the band myself and I've also met him quite a few times here in Texas cool dude definitely great voice definitely music getting a little bit pretentious probably but I do love you Kevin get back to your roots bro
Geez, the people are just stiffs. Max had the greatest musicians in the world in that band. He would fly guys from Switzerland, Italy, Greece,,... You name it. The artistry was amazing. The people had no idea what They were witnessing. That's why He said "You can at least dance with Me". The lack of reverence of this great Man. I'll never listen to Christian music again because the crowd rejected Him.
I mean he has half of King Crimson on his solo debut. I'm not worthy.
