I was told by my dad that Phil Keaggy IS the best guitarist alive (when I was 5 years old, and am now 43). All four of my kids know this as well, of course! But the best thing about Phil, is that He loves his creator more than anything in this world, and attributes his talent to Jesus. His music ministry is a testament, to his love of Christ.

Also, I am a guitarist and bass player of 40 years. I would put Phil Keaggy up against ANY guitarist of the past 60 years as far as technical skill and talent. He would meet or exceed any. But he is not into this for fame and glory and gold. He just loves playing and leading others to the Lord Jesus Christ. Thanks Phil for enriching my life. All the Best, Jeff

Same here... My first Christian album was Matthew Ward 'Toward Eternity'. GREAT album! Blown away by 'Noah's Song' written by Phil Keaggy. Next was 2nd Chapter of Acts live w Phil: 'How The West Was One' (also a "must have"). So I was also introduced to Phil (albeit not from one of his albums) right from the start. Then I started getting Phil's albums n Keith Green's (RIP), n onward from there. Phil is a phenom... I remember a quote that is actually 'urban legend' that someone asked Jimi Hendrix something to the effect of "So, how does it feel to be the greatest guitar player?" Jimi allegedly said "I don't know, ask Phil Keaggy." That gained traction because Phil is literally that good!!

Back in 1984 or 1985 my eldest brother, Jon, gave me the "Town to Town" album for my birthday gift. Jon was not evan a believer, but knew I really got into Phil Keaggy. We talked about the lordship of Jesus in my life and potentially his around this time. He was not a believer from what I could see and hear. But I believe he embraced Christ in his latter days, especially as he was faced with "terminally" ill cancer in 2013. I was with him in those final days and I believe he became a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Any way I have always loved the Town to Town especially. It has always reinforced my faith and following of Jesus.

Pure Bliss! I just recently 'rediscovered' some of my old P.K. recordings. I had forgotten what a genius he was/is, and how his playing and songwriting transcends so many genres. I didn't realize way back then when I bought those records what a remarkable powerhouse he is. This video confirms it now in my mind - the music still seems so fresh and timeless in 2020. Wish I could have seen him live during this, the absolute prime of his youth.

It makes me glad to see him perform some of his very best, even if this wasn't one of his personal best performing days. Some of the all-time PK greats were included here. "Let Everything Else Go" just stops my heart every time, so that it can LISTEN.
Phil sounds very tired, but the slips and gaffes are relatively minor. His audience adores him, though. Did they really call this outfit The Phil Keaggy Band? I thought he stopped using that moniker when he finished touring to support "Emerging" back in the Spring of '78.
