Phil is nothing short of an amazing example of our Lord Jesus. He’s very personable, and cares about all he meets. His music is my favorite since 1982! What a great example of God’s love through music….

I was dead in the darkness when "Your Love Broke Thru"
shined into my life. This is the tune that brings back that
time of transformation & deliverance, & best of all Jesus' forgiveness.

I like his music with Ted Sandquist and the Love Inn band he had in '76 it is a great album I saw him twice once at Jesus 82 and another time at Calvary Chapel in Ft. Lauderdale I was sitting next to Dion Dimucci and even he was amazed by Phil who was by himself no band I never even knew it was Dion until they pointed him out, should have known by the hat.

I often lament the lack of recognition for great musicians like Phil Keaggy just because they are Christians. But, they made the choice. I don't think they have any regrets.

      @tl5404 4 года назад +6

I hear you and agree. Fast forward years now, to see that twinkle in Phil's eyes that is alive and clear, his smiles cheerful and the sense of peace about him, he chose the pure way and having that peace and having recognition from God is bigger than any world recognition. He chose to not get sold out to the world, a very different path, a light shining through the era of the sex, drugs and rock n' roll era. So heart warming and encouraging for us younger ones to carry on our race to stand firm and chose the narrow and different way, when the temptation to go the easy way or get sold out to other things is there.

@@tl5404 The only thing I look forward to is to hear God say, "Well done." I do not care if anyone else acknowledges anything I do in praise. once you see Jesus in part, because we will not know fully until we see him in person, personal desire for praise fades away.

I've loved Phil's music since the start of his career. What is great about this recording is it appears we are actually hearing what was played--unlike so many so-called "live concerts" where so much is redone in the studio after the performance. Those are really nothing more than a video overlaid onto a studio recording. This is raw, warts-and-all, and that makes it so much more real and in my opinion, so much more enjoyable. You can really tell how good the musicians are when playing live.

I remember Phil relating how he told Ted Nugent one time (Glass Harp had opened for the Ambury Dukes) that he would only share a riff with Ted if Ted would allow him to share The Gospel with him (which Ted replied "forget it" to). Years later, Phil said that, having some years to mature, he would've freely shared that riff with Ted without obligating him to hear the Gospel. Sometimes, it is our love, not our words alone, that draw unbelievers to believe in Christ. We don't need more Pharisees, but more humble beggars to show others where we found the bread of hope & life.

just out of curiosity, does any one have any idea what guitar he is using here?

The strat style guitar, is a custom built Zion guitar for him (he also used the same guitar on the lead guitar licks for Greg X. Volz's song: "Hold On To The Fire", and the Gibson ES-335 style guitar, is a Yamaha. If you check some of his home videos, he gives better details of the two guitars from his extensive collection.

      The Yamaha is an SA2000

The one he opens with is a Fernandes custom made by a guy with the last name of, wait for it, Fernandes. He worked for a guitar company that I can't recall the name of. He made it for Phil and presented it as a gift.

So surprised to see the Word of Faith cult posting Keaggy.

anything from "Underground" would have sounded better here because there was an actual band to play it instead of that annoying drum machine on the album.

Jimi Hendrix said before his death, Phil Keaggy is the greatest guitarist in the world. Amen to a humble servant that preaches Jesus our Lord and Savior. But Hendrix the Voodoo Child chose Satan and death.

That’s just urban legend! Phil even said he’s never said that.It sounds great to brag on since I’m a Keaggy fan!! And as for Hendrix I hope and pray that he accepted Jesus as his Savior. God bless

One of the greatest guitarists of all time...but kind of average on lyrics... I guess you can't be it all.

Shouldn't be hard to find something more worthy of cringing. A whole pantheon of guitarists have studied Mr. Keaggy and he's so graced with humility, he hardly acknowledges it, unless pressed.

@@karziekey I didn't say it was the most cringeworthy performance of all time. But it's almost like a parody of Christian rock from that era - the over-processed guitar tones, the self-indulgent solos, the fact that Keaggy looks like Spinal Tap-era Harry Shearer, the mom jeans.
