    I love that you showed this with extra long circular needles! I never seem to have exactly the right materials for a project, and I just kind of made it up to make it work- but you doing the same thing in this video was very validating!

    As a fairly new knitter trying cable knitting for the first time, I found it easier to keep track of the main 15-stitch sections by moving the stitch markers to the beginning of each 15-stitch pattern section. That way I could make sure each 15-stitch repeat had the correct number of stitches and it was easier to keep track of when to start the next section of 15. 🙂

      Yes. I also suggest for beginners placing stitch markers every 15 sts so they never forget when to start a new section

    Another fantastic hat pattern Ann!! I do like cables so this one is on my 'to do' list at the top when I can. Your tutorials are even better than before (gosh 2 years ??!! yikes time 'flies)
    I have never seen that yarn until now and only know the LionBrands that my store carries.
    I always did my cables on a dp needle in the same way you do which I prefer. I left one of my babbling comments in your Pixie Hat tutorial so I'll not repeat myself . Thinking of you more than ever and hoping you and yours are doing okay Ann!!! (((HUGS)))~~~Jo

    I noticed you knitted and purled with some stitches going through the front and some through the back. Does that make a difference in the stitches and appearance of your project or is it just your preference? Do you have a tutorial for mittens to match this hat? This is a beautiful thick cable pattern. Thanks for all of your inputs. 😊🧶

      Hi Patricia. I have seen a pattern on this site for cable mittens which are beautiful and I think would look fantastic with this hat! I'm lousy with links etc. but I do (I have knitted many of Ann's amazing hat patterns) I guess just type in the CrazyHandsKnitting and you will find the mittens pattern. Good luck and take care!~~~Jo

      Hi Patricia. I am continental knitter and grab the yarn in a certain way so after I have to purl through the back loop. I am going to stop doing it because I see that I confuse other knitters. Please purl as you usually do. Regarding matching mittens I do not have a pattern with the same cable but have many other cable mitten patterns that can look great with this hat as well. Check my site please www.crazyhands.net

    Hi!! I just finished knitting this hat on straight needles. Your instructions are great and it came out beautifully. Unfortunately, it is too smaller size for my head. I would really love to try knitting this hat on circular needles but this time in a bigger size so it fits my head. I understand the pattern is knitted in lots of 15. I reckon one more lot of 15 would be just right. So i'd be working from 90 stitches instead of 75. But I'm reaaally struggling to work out how many stitches to cast on to do the ribbing part at the beginning.
    Please are you able to tell me exactly how many stitches I would need to cast on ? Thank you!!

    • @CrazyHandsKnitting
      @CrazyHandsKnitting  Год назад +1

      I would cast on 80 sts and add 10 sts after. Or cast on 84 and add 6. Roughly I added 10% of the total number

  • @oranjjetofu4054

    Hi, I have another question if you wouldn’t mind. I am using a slightly thinner yarn, size 4 medium which falls for US 8/5mm needles. I’m assuming I still need to make the rim in a multiple of 4 stitches and increase to a number divisible by 15. I’m not sure if I should use a 6mm for the entire project and use the same number stitches as your or if it wouldn’t turn out correctly. Any help you could provide would be appreciated!! Maybe it’s not possible..my idea is to start with 83 cast on stitches and increase to 90
    Edit: maybe 82 or 84 to start since it needs to be even

    • @CrazyHandsKnitting
      @CrazyHandsKnitting  Год назад

      Yes you can start with 82 or 84 and after the ribbing make increase to 90 sts

    • @oranjjetofu4054
      @oranjjetofu4054 Год назад

      @@CrazyHandsKnitting I think I will use 84 since it is divisible by 4 and increase to 90. Thank you for your help!

    PS. What makes a left leaning cable or a right leaning one? Is it determined by whether the extra needle is held in front or in back? Do you/can one do both in one project and how do YOU decide when you create yours?

    • @CrazyHandsKnitting
      @CrazyHandsKnitting  2 года назад +1

      Exactly. If you hold the needle in front you will get a left leaning cable and vice versa. Depends on the project. In my baby cable knit romper I was knitting from one side left leaning and from the other side right leaning.

    • @StarryNightKnitting
      @StarryNightKnitting 2 года назад +1

      @@CrazyHandsKnitting Thank you! So in theory one could do left and right leaning in a project? Okay and now I will go and check out your baby cable knit romper : )

    23:52, could you briefly explain how to change needles? Is it when you start a new round, you will have the bigger needle in the right hand, smaller needle in left hand and complete the round that way?
