- Hi everyone! Thank you so much for being here for another video. In this video, I take you through my final week of planning and preparing for back to school. I try some new outfits out, open an emotional package, and look at my new teacher bag. This week really taught me the importance of memories in a classroom versus the things inside. When I opened this package it was a reminder that this was just a thing, but it reminded me of the happiest memories that we had inside my old classroom--it just happened to be there during it. I so relate to that wanting your old self back again. I have not experienced the tragedy that you have but I resonate with missing a version of yourself or a time in your life when you felt so full and on top of the world. You are not alone in that feeling.

I did the OWP on the first day of school with my 7th graders! Turned out amazing and it’s such a great way to learn about my kids on a deeper level. I was so impressed by their meaningful words 😊

My teacher from high school would have a layout of the desks. Every month he’d switch our seats so we could get to know more people. He’s put our names in a bowl and just right them down as the name came out

I never used to watch videos without headphones but I did today and then my cat started watching with me! she was just laying down, reacting to sounds and movement on screen, and occasionally tapping the screen and trying to catch u lol
You have to get the Christian Robinson books to go with your new wall decor and pillow!!!! I did a project on him in college and he is amazing!! Especially his book You Matter!!

I'm just now realizing what school shooting you are talking about. I am so sorry that you all have to go through this. I remember watching it on the news thinking "oh gosh what am I getting myself into?" At the time I was in college studying to be a High School Social Studies teacher. I decided not to become a teacher but I am wrapping my arms around you virtually. I can't imagine the fear you must have had. I pray for your healing. ❤️🩹

Soooo, I graduated with a degree in French Ed. but just got hired as a HS English teacher at an alternative school. I'm not afraid of the day to day, mostly worried about aligning standards and keeping students motivated. Anybody have words of encouragement?
