They are growing on me to lol it's a love hate because the C5 is just legendary with the pop ups but they aren't the worst 🤷🏼♂️ idk I got what I got and it's probably never gunna change lol
I have a 97 trans am and considering they’re both gm sport cars from the same era, my question is how much different is the driving experience with one of these? Obv there’s more horsepower and such but I’ve never driven one of these and I would love to know.
I actually had a 98 trans am so I can tell you the difference. As far as power goes they are pretty similar. The Corvette does slam 2nd a bit harder but not crazy difference. The biggest thing is that the Corvette just feels lower and not as long. It feels alot more like a gokart then the trans am does lol it's a little bit more planted to the ground in the turns as well.
My Carmine Red C5 has 190K miles on it and is a "newbie" compared to yours. However, my seats were shot as well. I bought new hides for under $600 through Ridies in Houston off eBay. Quality of materials and assembly is unmatched, even if from Karachi, Pakistan. Can't say anything but nice things about them.Recovering C5 seats is a walk in the part for an average person with average skills and tools and can easily be done in an afternoon. I repaired the biscuits as needed with Gorilla Tape and put a piece of carpet over the wires in the seat bottom to remedy the wires cutting into the biscuit.Seriously-where can you get a "toy" for $3,500? High mileage, yes, but clearly a good deal that you should be able to enjoy, even with a baby on the way. Good luck Dad, and enjoy the car.
Nice vette.. i have a twin z06 white.. I hate my pop up headlights. Those lights make it look newer. Like the c6 newer corvette 05 and up. Do you have hids? Or stock bulbs? Im planning on swaping out mine.

I looked at buying a C5 before i bought my bmw. Over 197k miles, had engine and traction warning lights. No record of dealer maintainence. Guy was asking $12,500. I wouldve jumped on the $3500, that was an awesome deal for a fun car
Man you buy a. $ 3,500 car but really you have an american dream car , this is what you win , a national dream machine , this is the real value. I have one of this beauty ! 👍🇺🇸
Maybe it's just the video but there looks to be a fit issue with that drivers front fender - still a good buy and a fine daily driver if you maintain it it should last for some time.
amazing deals can be had on used cars now and many vehicles are very high quality. I sold my last vehicle - a 1999 Acura TL with 285,000 miles and everything worked just fine. Now this Vette is a REALLY used car...but still, even a normally used vehicle. A person can get a great vehicle for $25000 or less easily now. Assuming you can deal with some wear and tear
@@HUMMUHSMIFF For sure man, that poor ls7 was daily driven + track driven almost DAILY for 3 years. The owner took great care of it though was always on time with oil changes and because of that engine had minimal wear on the cylinder walls, now the piston rings were a different story because they were almost nonexistent, but that rebuild kit had everything in it that could be swapped out, and I did that by watching youtube videos on how to rebuild LS and such. And I have little to no mechanical experience. Good luck with your c5 bro!

My best score is an LB7 Duramax with 300k for 3,000. I actually paid more for my MR2 than what you did for your C5. C5s are the car that got me into cars back when I was 3, so hopefully, I can score a C5 for what you paid for! Amazing find and can't wait for more content
Thanks so much man! It's been an awesome and fun ride so far! I want a nice duramax so badly haha
That's a good deal bro! Congrats and welcome to the family. I daily my 98 C5 also, love it!
Thanks! I looove dailying my C5 lol dang good cars!
I had a 97 as a daily driver..now I have a c6s 2005 daily driver also... There is no happiness when you keep a big butty inside a garage
panzer waffen especially now here in Ohio with winter, still very drivable if there's snow get snow tires and you're solid. People are just too scared and I understand but I'm just tryna enjoy my car.
I'm in Utah with "the greatest snow on Earth" and I'm gonna daily the sheet out of this thing here lol
@@614XJ I couldn't agree more... ✌️✌️✌️✌️
If you all decide to get a bigger vehicle, I would like to have this car!
I'll say smart too. Because $3500.00 plus $160.00 for a radiator for a used Corvette with almost 300k miles is good. He did pretty good on this deal because I actually thought he paid more for it. I thought he paid about $5000.00 for it
First couple mins I thought the headlights looked whack, but after the 5 minute mark they already started to grow on me. Nice whip man hope shes good to ya.
They are growing on me to lol it's a love hate because the C5 is just legendary with the pop ups but they aren't the worst 🤷🏼♂️ idk I got what I got and it's probably never gunna change lol
The car is sweet ZR1 Wheels looks fantastic can't beat the bang for the buck
Thanks man! Never thought I would have a set of ZR1'S LOL to expensive 😂
That car looks fresh out the factory ... for 300 K that’s incredible
Thanks man! I really like the car alot! Haha
It’s all in the eyes of the beholder. It’s a classic.💯
HUMMUH Red White and Blue thank you for the reply and that makes sense, driving the trans am can feel like a yacht at some points haha
Dude, you’re winning great purchase!!
do you have any rubbing issues with these wheels?
Lol I did until it rubbed a hole in the plastic. Now it doesn't rub 🤷🏼♂️😂
saw you on Scotty's channel lol congrats bro, that's a amazing car
Thanks my dude! I've sure enjoyed having it!
That's cheap! I'll have to look into that! Thanks my man!
i think it was a steal for that price bro hell of a deal even a blind squirell finds a nut every once in a while great find
Nice vette.. i have a twin z06 white..
I hate my pop up headlights. Those lights make it look newer.
Like the c6 newer corvette 05 and up.
Do you have hids?
Or stock bulbs?
Im planning on swaping out mine.
I have the stock bulbs and they are really nice! I actually like them alot! But thank man!
@@HUMMUHSMIFF yeah i like those headlights.
I feel like pop up lights are old now days lol

I couldn't resist haha I had the money and I when. I saw it it and started it up I was like. Oh no. I'm buying a Corvette today 😂

I’m my opinion I feel like a corvette is it’s own brand I sometimes forget it’s a Chevy
This was the first video I watched on the channel, and the video that really made me follow this channel. Still sad and shocked that Hayden passed away. RIP man!
Such wholesome attitude dang
Thanks!
You’ll have to update on how it does in mild snow. I live in SLC as well and am planning on buying a vette fairly soon. Good buy in my opinion!
Rwd vehicles are never gonna be as food as fwd and or 4wd in the snow depending on how bad roads get you wount get too far even with winter tires if you drive any rwd in the summer it's a blast but in the winter it sucks
I've owned 8 C5's, all reconstructed totals (reconstructed by me) including 2 ZO6's. They're wonderful cars especially with a 6 speed. My present ride is a torch red 99 FRC that had 40,000 miles when I bought it for $3,900.00, fixed came to $6,500.00 . Um, those aftermarket headlights do kinda suck (no offence) - LOL.
That's some awesome car history! The trans axle always scared me with these cars as far as fixing goes but then this deal came along and it was to good to be true! Lol but I agree on the headlights! Not my fav! I have contemplated ideas on how to change them already!
Awesome deal! Just earned a subscriber. Thinking about picking up at C5 in a few months
Thanks for the support! And I recommend doing it! Lol I loooove the Vette!
looks awesome, people pay 3500 for a rolling chassis vette with no motor
I’m a 1:33 on video, you did good. I just sold mine with 120k 1998 white w gray interior. I did new leather seat myself along with new foam. It your C-5 took a dump, in parts you would recover your money $$$ way more $$$.
Smart because mine has 392,000 and runs strong
My high mileage brother!!
Got 190000 on my c5 and runs strong. Planning on a rebuild pretty soon.
Go check out my video C5 Corvette stage 4 btr cam
With good maintenance, you can practically make a corvette immortal.
No way. Really???? Wild
This just popped up in my feed.
Can't wait to see how it goes. I'm the type of guy who might pull the same type stunt!
Do your maintenance and preventatives and don't push her too hard! I'd daily that thing in a New York minute brother.
Of course! Only the finest of oils for this old girl! Lol
Who the heck buys a C5 and swaps the factory headlights for those hideous aftermarket lamps?
It diminishes the natural good looks of the car.
Matt Farah did it but. Wasn't my choice 🤷
@@HUMMUHSMIFF The dude from The Smoking Tire channel??
Will you tell him he's an asshole for me? I feel like someone needs to..
@@scorpionwins6378 lol Matt Farah didn't put the headlights on this exact car but he had a 1998 C5 and he put these same headlights on it lol
Mistah J 😂😂😂😂 " Tell him he's an asshole for me "
I recon they look better than the pop up lights. Them wheels realy set it off.
man, you are enjoying the hell out of this car. that makes it a real bargain. If something breaks, fix it and keep driving it until the wheels fall off :)
IDK bro I got a C5 it has 80,000 miles on it. I guess if u keep it up with maintenance and everything it shud be fine. But at the end of the day u gota Corvette so who gives a damn about what anyone else says!
Hahaha that's how I feel I don't really care about the details I just have a Corvette that I've dreamed about owning lol
@@HUMMUHSMIFF yessir bro
I traded mine at 104k, and it ran perfect. It needed new suspension but other than that it looked almost brand new.
Do you regret trading?
Very smart. A Vette isn't usually a daily driver anyway and for what you have to pay to insure the thing? Very smart indeed!
I looked at buying a C5 before i bought my bmw. Over 197k miles, had engine and traction warning lights. No record of dealer maintainence. Guy was asking $12,500. I wouldve jumped on the $3500, that was an awesome deal for a fun car
Yeah 3500 is so dang cheap 😂😂😂
As long as your happy man! All it matters
I miss my old girl... 98 C5 white/tan Z06 wheels... sold it for $12.5k back in 2010... had 94,000 miles on it when I said bye.
I hate the feeling of wishing you never let go. I have a couple of those as well
Man you buy a. $ 3,500 car but really you have an american dream car , this is what you win , a national dream machine , this is the real value. I have one of this beauty ! 👍🇺🇸
I love mine!! Thanks man!!
@@HUMMUHSMIFF 👍
Maybe it's just the video but there looks to be a fit issue with that drivers front fender - still a good buy and a fine daily driver if you maintain it it should last for some time.
There is something a little bit wrong with it. It flares out a little at the bottom. I've been having to much fun driving it to worry about it lol
i bought a 98 with 220,000 but paid more ,zo6 wheels and low profile tiger paws just needed a windshield wiper motor (60.00) paid 8 grand even
8 G's is still a good price! It's hard to find them lower then that!
Awesome buy! perfect candidate to use for a daily and clean up a bit as you go. Then later throw a 5.3 and a small turbo on it
That is the plan! 😁😁😁
"Milkshakes, Del Taco whatever" LOL same man.
amazing deals can be had on used cars now and many vehicles are very high quality.
You can rebuild that engine for $1000, I had c6 with 490k miles, bought rebuild kit for 700, and machined the block. Drives like new.
Heck ya! 😂 Thats awesome 😂
@@BoonieDutchman that's an awesome inspiring story!! I wanna rebuild an engine solely based on RUclips video 😂
@@HUMMUHSMIFF If you want to do that watch youtuber +Boosted Lifestyle he has LS build on his channel. And everything is explained well.

Great deal. Still trying to figure out how we missed this one. Would have beat you to it. 😂We have some nice seats out of a Z06 if you ever get over to Grand Junction.
I actually have family that lives out in Grand junction! And man this car needs new seats really badly 🤣 how much?
Ha ha my son and I were talking and this is the vette that we were going to get, but in the morning we called and it was sold. Anyway, $350 for the seats.
Definitely was the one, we have basically an entire Z06 worth of parts. Door panels, seats, T56, diff, etc. You'll have to stop by if you're ever in GJ.
Using that brush to wash your car is stupid lol literally scratching the paint.
i suppose you lick the dirt off your car?
Watch the rest of the video... This one is beyond saving... Hope he didn't pay more than a couple Grand for someone else's 20yrs of fun.
The brush won't do a damn thing to the paint. Shut the fuck up
@@blown87gt Actually yes it will. The brushes are always left on the ground so they're covered in dirt.

I have owned 13 vette's mostly c3.... anywhere from 25+45k.....most options not in working order..fuel tank.calipers..gauges..etc..
ect....purchased a c4..with 155k...no leaks... everything works ..shines.. rides great.. very dependable
Nice deal, man!! You can drive it like you stole it...'cause you did!!
Great my dude, those LS1s are freaking bulletproof. Especially if they were well maintained.. I've seen one at an auction with a similar mileage make around 4k. C5s hold their value well.
I think it was a smart choice to! Haha I looove Mine that's for sure!
You got a diamond in the rough.
Thanks mate! I think so to! Lol
Hell yeah, $3,500 is a deal especially if it was rebuilt. I'd drive the shit out of it.
That's the plan 😎
I bought a 1998 corvette with about 106,000 miles on it for about 12k.... smart or stupid ? I had always wanted a corvette my whole life and saved up for it. But since it was an old car, it started breaking down a lot so I had to sell it since keeping up with it was so expensive 😔 I miss it everyday
you got such a good deal if the motor dose go then you can get it built. Nice score man
Thanks! Hopefully it doesn't tho! Lol
Nice man but truthfully you should really put the pop-up headlights back on it looks way better!!!
I tooootally agree with you on that! But I don't even know where to begin with all of that lol
Dudddeeeee, sweet deal. This car will make your day everyday. Black 94 selling for 10k with 30k miles only. Beautiful car.
Great price, I have been looking for a C5 for a while now, and never come across any like this one for that price.
Great video! Now you've got me checking out C5 prices!
Lol finding one under 8k is tough!
Dont think about prices, No body born twice . enjoy your youth .it pass very faster than a VETTE !
How many engine and/or transmission rebuilds & replacements has this fabulous beast had so far! Also is it manual or auto
As Long as it runs and drives awesome find..... LS1 baby all the way

Smart or stupid??? Stupid is to have the money and don't buy it unless you don't like Corvettes... Now I'm not saying it to you but why are people so worry about miles on an LS1 ?? If you take care of the car it will take care of you
It's so true lol so many people are sooooo afraid of high miles and I friggin loooove high miles yeah some ish is worn out but it gives it character lol
Go to Tractor Supply and buy Permatex plastic welder and glue and clamp your cracked bumper as it will glue it like new as this crap is stronger than original and its 3.97 a tube here in Fl.
Great idea! Maybe I'll do it and make a video out of it!
Milage on a car literally doesnt matter if you take care of the car
What was the overheating fix?
There was a hairline crack at the top of the radiator that would piss out all of the coolant lol so new radiator and she's good to go!
