Of course you should pick up EVERY piece of petrified wood...they’re gorgeous!!!
Remember, we are living vicariously through you… And if you don’t, we scream at the screen!!!
LOL, I wonder if the results would change if you asked nicely. :'D
Your last big agate was the picture of perfection.
Thank you! :)
Love that multicolored petrified wood and that Chunky Chunky Chunky piece of multicolored jasper! Yee haw!
CHUUUUUUUNKYYYYY!
That slice was amazing! Thank your husband for the great drone work!
:) I'll pass it on.
I always click the like button even before the video starts because I KNOW I’m going to enjoy it all.
Thank you! I'm so pleased.
OMG!! That last big agate, when sliced is MAGNIFICENT!! Thanks so much for showing us it's innards!! Great hunt, great video. Love your work, as always!
I am happy you enjoyed it. :)
Oh wow! Kate, the rocks you found today are beautiful! I really love the color of that jasper. Never seen those colors in jasper.
Yes, the green especially knocks my socks off.
Wow! On that agate slice. Love the wood & beautiful jasper.
Thank you!
AND if you visit Yellowstone there Are some petrified wood trees 🌳 still standing. Beautiful petrified wood finds! Beautiful agates too! Beautiful at 7:49! You are so blessed to find ❤ so much beautiful petrified wood specimens! My motto 8s "Any agate, no matter the size is a great find!" Beautiful waterline agates!!!!!!!
:) Thanks, Elizabeth.
Absolutely miraculously gorgeous. ❤
Wow!! Gorgeous finds! I love it when we get to see what’s inside! The last picture of the cut agate reminds me of looking up through the branches of a tree during a snowstorm! Love it😄👍
:) What a great description!
That last jasper was amazing
It really was!
That last waterline agate left my mouth agape. Like looking up thru tall trees on a hazy summer day.
Yes, it was pretty exciting to find. :)
I liked so many things in this video!! First, I soooo admire your strength at leaving that one pet wood behind lol! The pet wood with the green on top was so cool!! Do you ever slab/slice your pet wood?? And I love that colourful jasper you found at the end! A fantastic time!
Yes, actually, I slab wood often. And here's a secret- I left that one behind because it was kinda plain. :D Thanks for watching...
Great finds and amazing history with the number of petrified forests -- who would have known!?! The drone footage was terrific...especially Kava trying to snag the drone out of the air. Keep on doing what you do, Kate -- you give us rockhounds at home much to enjoy!
LOL, Kava thinks the drone is her own personal toy. Thanks for watching, SSQ!
The things you see inside those agates are simply amazing.
I agree!
Can't wait for more of your videos I keep watching the old videos until your new ones come out.
See you tomorrow at 5 Mountain time!
I love the petrified wood! I want to go to the blue forest some day too!
You are closer than I am!
Petrified wood super beautiful. I lovecyou Channel...
Thank you very much. :)
Absolutely loved what you did with this video. Seeing those finds in color, and wet, close up is almost like being there. I enjoyed this one so much I clicked "like"" only 1/2-way through! Thanks!
Thanks, Grant. :)
I would not be able to leave all that petrified wood either. Great finds.
I think it's an addiction.
I loved that last jasper!
Me too!
Wow, you found some whoppers this time! Go you! Thanks for sharing!
:) Thanks, Kim - it was a good day.
Hello Kate. Jasper finds are my favourite viewer watch. Remind me of handmade hard candy. 🤗
Mmmmmm hmmmm!
@@KatyDidRocks 🍭
Beautiful rocks Katy!😍
Thank you! 😊
Wonderful day !!
Yes it was! Thanks for watching.
Another amazing video. Thank you 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
On the last agate discovery, on the right between an orange and black rock you can see the claw of a crawdad waving. I'm glad that you didn't get pinched!
I think that was a grasshopper in the water... :D
Awesome hounding and scored some beauties!!
:) Thanks, Michael. It was fun.
Hi Kate hi all
Hi, Randall! I wonder why you had video issues.
Awesome finds, wow the colors!
Thanks so much!
Lots of beautiful stones but spectacular when cut. Thanks for the trip. Be safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
:) Thanks, Randall.
Lol! I am giving my age away, but what awesome pet rocks! (I actually have one in storage somewhere. It was a gift during my high school days.)
They are probably valuable at this point!
Thanks for another great video. Definitely have to head east!
East is a good direction. :)
You could always send me some petrified wood. I can’t seem to find any here in Minnesota. I keep picking up stuff I think must be wood and then ask a geologist here in town and so far they have always been “nope” it’s not. I will keep looking
Yep, keep looking - you'll find it! Here is an interesting web site I found regarding Minnesota petrified wood. Research and more research will help improve your hunts: petrifiedwoodmuseum.org/PrecambrianMinnesotaUSA.htm
Good hunting as always!
Thanks, Mary!
I'm always curious how long you're out there on these gravel bars, you always find so much good material. Lovely finds as always.
Thanks, CR. I would say each hunt is 2-3 hours, depending on where it is. This one takes half an hour or so to hike in, so that extends the time.
Beautiful video💜
Obrigada.
Love this video.. I have been picking up some rocks that I have been thinking, “ agate or not agate.. don’t know what it is” and this video had some that are very similar, so it makes me very hopeful that when I get mine cut I will have some as nice as the one you show cut into slabs..
We have an amphibious vehicle so we are going to go exploring on some areas that might be less accessible for hiking in. Hope we find some extra special finds..
thanks for the wonderful video. Loved all of the rocks..(who wouldn’t.....lol) but that jasper is really special.
Sounds like a wonderful time! I hope you have found some treasures.
Awesome stuff I just got some real nice yellow Jasper and fier opal yesterday ⛏️😎👌
That sounds awesome.
Hi, I just found your channel and love it!!! I love seeing rocks being cut and all the surprises inside of them and you are fantastic at that!!! I'm 'only' a tumbler for now, hope to find a saw I can afford, or afford to make, maybe next spring. I'm learning from you, so keep up the good work!!! Take care, stay safe and healthy.
Welcome! I'm so glad you joined us. :)
Hope to see those waterline agates s!iced!
That big one is just crying for it - it's already flat on the edges. :D
So glad to be home and tuning in to your channel Katy after our 2 month fossicking trip to agate creek and opalton etc..we found some be beautiful specimens but sadly the art of you tube video editing eludes me..love your work buddy..
Welcome back! I'm glad you enjoy my videos. Wish I could tune in to see your trip, it sounds amazing!
Katy, awesome rocks! What was that super round rock right about 8:13 next to the petrified wood you picked up, about the 2 0'clock position? I liked the color and the roundness. Don't say you won't pick up anymore petrified....we all know that is NOT going to happen. LOL
Your dog looks as happy to play out there as you look finding those jaspers! Great video!
I don't know what that rock is - some kind of colored quartzite, maybe? It is pretty cool, though. Yeah, I need to stop saying I'm not going to pick up petwood, because we all know I will.
I'm early today 😎
Welcome. :)
Thank you for posting, I wish I was there with you, I would have picked up all your discards. Do you have to have a permit to collect rocks along the Yellowstone river?
Hi, Alan! No permit required. You do have to be careful about access - private land is private. 😊
Amazing video as always! Does that agate slice remind anyone else of a Chagall painting?
I agree!
kATE i WOULD HAVE TO COME THROUGH MY SCREEN AND CHECK YOUR TEMPERATURE IF YOU LEFT THOSE GORGEOUS PIECES OF PET. WOOD BEHIND LOL. (sorry about the caps new laptop and I'm still learning lol) Wow to that lovely piece of Montana agate :) Technically you did find alot of agate ...ok so it was buried in petrified wood but it was agate lol Hi to Tor :) ps Tor take your Mom to the petrified forest ok :)
Haha, Mary-Anne, you know I have no willpower. :D
Blue Forest is cool but one heck of a lot of hard digging. I like your blue one better.
:) I just cracked myself up when I figured out what it actually was. The Blue Forest still is on my bucket list, though.
I don’t understand how you have so much wood there I would think Montana winters are harder than here in Mn
Montana used to be wet and tropical. Additionally, there are 27 different petrified forests stacked on top of each other in the Yellowstone area, so there is an abundance of petrified wood coming down the river. Also, Minnesota definitely has harder winters - at least usually. :) I lived in both Thief River Falls and Moorhead, and can speak from experience.
I enjoy looking at your videos. You do find a lot of petrified wood that is my favorite. I just started and I found a few pieces right here in Billings. I can’t wait till spring so I can go look for some more.
What do you do with all your stones?
I can't resist a good piece of petrified wood. I have a slab saw, and my husband makes cabochons for me, but I haul so many home that many of them just hang out with their friends. :D
Cool
So this summer if y’all need some help packing rocks out I’m a good pack mule lol.
Is the Pet Wood knappable like chert?? I'm a rockhound/Artifact Hunter would love to work out a trade for Jasper or wood.
Not really - it breaks along the grain, like regular wood. :)
I see you now
Awesome.
I will be in roundup for Sunday. Would it suit you to team up? Or isn't that something that you want to do?
Hello, Robert! Thank you for the invite, but my husband and I are actually planning a trip this weekend. I hope you find amazing things!
i am not going to pick these up? = they look so nice i can not help my self
do you also do the just another 5 minutes at least 5 times tho
:'D You're not wrong! I should totally just not say that anymore...
@@KatyDidRocks i know from personal experience how hard it is to do
What do you do with your finds. You should show us
You can see some of what I do in my "What's Inside?" playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLJ-NSJmETRvrR7y7zfVOFjhD7q5YO8u7u
You need to go hunting petrified wood so you can find agate.
I have actually literally thought that thought.
I hear you but don't see you
Because I am INVISIBLE!
I would save an area such as this for a rainy day, now not a stormy river raising day. A day Eyore would say" Oh Bother" Rock hounds would say "oh heck ya"
Also same goes for over picked cleaner areas, rain will allow you to see second level rocks and they will of been all sprayed from the cloud bottle in the sky. When looking for desirable rocks that are below the first level of rocks it's so very important to stop and be so very conscious of going so slow. The good news is that the heaviest rocks tend to end up at the bottom of a layer of rocks when the high water shakes them up like a cup of dice all winter long.
So go out there. stop look and listen and more often than not you will find gems that will make whomever picked over the top level very jealous. Now go buy Kati's book , after reading that, forget this horrible advice from this hack. Use the book for locations identification and most importantly learn to be in wonder of the most wonderful things we see most every day but usually dont take the time to enjoy. GoGetyasum always remember to share the extra you have. Hunter gatherers care about the land more than most any other group. Sorry but I do have to add to take as extra bag. Now fill it with trash and pack it out.Now for the days there isnt any trash to be found, thos is the day you fill it up with gems and send it to me. Thank you, thank you very much.
Ok ok one last thing, if you cant get out Kati sells some greast rocks and such online. I don't know her so the only reason I am plugging is because i have purchased and been very happy.
If you can't go on a rock hunt watch someone else do it.
