A great song in a compelling performance. Welch and Rawlings seem to mine a deep seam into the spiritual life of America. Takes me back to South and my people in countryside of Arkansas and Mississippi.
The truth is that there's a devil for all of us, sometimes he has a hold of us, hopefully most of the time we're simply too far ahead of him. Once you've escaped him, you have to remember those dark times and be glad you're strong enough to break free and remember those times so as to not fall behind for him to clutch again.
Every time I'm going through tough times, with no means of escape.. Months apart I will weigh myself knowing exactly what I'll be weighing... 66.6kg. I thinks the devil got a hold of me. 👹 wish me luck ladies and gentlemen.
I seen the devil one dark night. I was out driving one night and robert johnson came on the radio, it was about 9:36 PM and my lights cut out for five seconds and when they cut back on I seen this mountain of a man, skin black as coal, 6'5, at least 250 pounds of muscle, I knew it was him because the devil appeared to Robert johnson as a giant black man when he sold his soul
Who is the banjo player? That's what I want to know. Very compelling playing. Gillian is great, of course, but I know who she is. I want to honor the banjo player by at least knowing his/her name.
Damnation brought me here. This show has amazing music.
This song should be the soundtrack of America in 2019.

"One thing I've learned, people love a chick with a banjo"-Gillian Welch
These two give me shivers they are so good together.

This song fairly breaths the spirit of Robert Johnson.
I'm getting some Dock Boggs vibes

Nice to hear.
she usually plays rhythm, the banjo player might be Mr David Rawlings. He does amazing things with strings.
