It is a joy to see your projects. Beautiful!! You are great in showing what you do. Very educational! It is easy to follow and we are left with answers to all possible questions that comes up along the build. I think it is your wife holding the camera. A special thank you to her. She moves the camera like a pro!
Hi Stefan, I'm glad you enjoy the videos. Yes, my wife is very skillful with the camera and I could not make these videos without her fine work. She thanks you for the compliment. Best regards!
Happy New Year! I hope you both have a wonder filled new year. I won't comment on the project yet it is not done. I will say it is living up to be one of your most interesting projects. I look forward to more projects this next year.
Hi Ken and Joaneen, thanks for another great video, clear, informative and entertaining as always. Looking forward to seeing the end result, it will be a very fine cabinet. Best wishes for a peaceful and happy new year. Mike in the UK.
I love the consideration of expansion you took respect the back stops of the drawers, just clever details that make "all" in the future. "Leather to absorb the impact", fine Sir !. I also imagine the possibility of secrets compartments in those internal ribbed stops (as tiny jewelry boxes that we can take of, and run away, Lol). Great solution the tee nuts. I love that at all times your wife assists you with her special preventive medicine care, even reminding you to place a padding for your knee (her profession always present). I must to say that your shows are a beauty to see, and I always learn a lot of things, at same time enjoy them. Have a nice 2018 to you and yours, Dear Friend ! A very sincere and affectionate greeting :)
Hi Daniel. Thanks for your kind compliments. Good idea with the tiny boxes....I will do this! Yes, Joaneen takes good care of me. Thanks for taking the time to write, I am humbled by comments from a skillful woodworker and youtube creator like you. Have a happy 2018!
The chest is beautiful..but that saw bench..wow, I had forgotten how gorgeous it is. If I could ever build one that turned out as nice as yours I would have to keep it in the house so I could show it off.
It's such a beautiful piece of furniture already! Your skills are inspiring (quite litterally, I want to get on with my different workbench builds (first a short Low Roman saw Bench then a Roubo inspired bench built to fit into my workspace) and build some furniture!)! I hope you'll make some new videos soon, although I still have many of your other videos to see :^) Cheers from Denmark!
@@treebangham I'm glad to hear it! I was almost getting worried. And I've shared your channel in my woodworking community (part of the Rex Krueger Patreon), so I hope more are coming your way!
A pleasure to watch as usual. I've a feeling that someone will want that chest for the best room in the house, it certainly deserves it. Happy new year mate, hurry up with next instalment.
Hey, first comment!!!! Happy New Year Ken and Jonene!!! You continue to impress and amaze me Ken. I like how you worked out the front stop on your top drawers, you have such elegant little details in your work. Can't wait until get to see the finished piece!! One question, what kind of glue did you use to attach the cowhide to the front stop spinner? Hide glue???? I just couldn't resist!
Hide glue?....but of course! The Duco cement stuff works well too. I look forward to using this chest in my workshop. I'm already stashing things in the drawers. Thanks for the visit Bob, and we both wish you a very Happy New Year too.
Look great! I got a restored and sharpened vintage Disston 26” rip saw off eBay for under a $100, I think you would be really happy if you went with a vintage rather than spend all that $$$ for a new full sized saw. Can’t want to see the chest all done!
nice chest of drawers. I notice that the bottoms of the upper drawers the grain is running parallel to the sides - did you allow for sideways expansion?
The upper drawers are quite narrow and the total seasonal expansion is quite small. I checked the clearance during all four seasons and the bottoms fit fine. Thanks for the question.
So with drawer stops installed on your top row drawers haven't you just cut off access to your secret compartments? How do you plan on being able to easily get to those now?
Hello Doug. The drawer stops are hand tightened and I can unscrew them in less than ten seconds. That's quick enough for me. Thank you for the question.
Yes, I thought a lot about using screws. I've done so in the past with other projects like my saw till. I'm going the traditional route this time with nails. If I regret my choice...heck...I'm a woodworker...I'll remake the back with screws. Thanks for the question Joe.
Don't worry, I'm only painting the frame. The drawer fronts and the top will have a wipe-on finish. I would never paint over that beautiful tiger maple! Cheers and thank you for visiting.

Happy New Year Chuck. I can hardly wait to start using this chest in my workshop. More projects to come!

Really looking forward to seeing this chest completed - great work so far!
I'm looking forward to the completion too! Thanks Craig.

Thanks Todd. The saw bench was a fun and challenging project and I enjoy using it. Please visit us again!

Thanks. I could make the argument that the best room in the house is my workshop! What do you think? Thanks for visiting us and have a Happy New Year.
treebangham, a workshop the best room in the house? Some might find that a ridiculous thing to say, but I'd have to agree with you totally. :-)

Thanks Mark, for visiting our workshop. Best regards.
Fantastic - as usual. Thank you.
Hello and thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Chest looks great, enjoy your videos. Happy New Year
Hi and thanks for checking in. Happy New Year!
I use angle aluminum too for my straight edge and winding sticks.
They work fine!
See ya next year! Have you looked into Pax saws?
Yes, I see Lee Valley carries them. I have quite a few choices and price ranges. See ya next year!
Happy new year sir. and the small black bird!
Happy New year, from me and the small black bird too!
Great watching you work and look forward to seeing you in 2018...cheers..rr
Thank you Richard. More projects to come!
Hey Rob......... Happy New Year. Cool SHOW. ! 😀
Thank you and a very Happy New Year to you as well!

Hi Lance. Good find! I've been checking out eBay too. Still undecided, we'll see. I'm busy on show #10!

Curious if you considered screws rather than nails for the back. I don't think it matters much as unlikely ever to need to remove it.

Please do not hide the wood grain on the drawer fronts and the top. I love natural wood grain and fine it sacralidgous to cover it.
Don't worry, I'm only painting the frame. The drawer fronts and the top will have a wipe-on finish. I would never paint over that beautiful tiger maple! Cheers and thank you for visiting.
