Too many people fail to realize that the markup is about 30% in small retail places. From this, you need to cover salaries, building leasing, etc. Dropping the price by 10% actually drops the profit by 33%.

If she gets that upset over the price of the animal then she probably can't afford to keep it healthy anyway.
Why did EP get so upset about that particular snake in the snake store? I'm firmly of the belief that control and power play a large role in the behavior of Karens and Chads, and that using the word "no" with them is like waving a red flag in front of a bull.
The bedbug story, if the cheap-a$$ landlord had treated the first apartment to be infected, that would have cured the bedbug problem. All the rest of the consequences were because of that bad decision.

For anyone interested my exterminator, who works for Orkin, taught me how to clear bedbugs from my house and it worked. Move your furniture outside, the summer heat in AZ kills them. Spray your carpet around the floorboards out to 2ft with straight rubbing alcohol. Then go over every square inch of carpet, clothing, pillows, and plushies with a steam cleaner. Repeat spray and stream after a month. Completely cleared the house after one treatment

As the owner, you set the prices where you can cover business costs, make a good profit, and keep the price low enough people are willing to buy. If you gave a discount to every Joe and Jane who was short $10, you wouldn't last very long.
