I wish there was BIG streaming service where you could pay something like $10 or $15 a month and watch all the content you want without Ads (and the fear of censorship of course).
Only have one streaming service a month, and switch them out. They don't come out with new content fast enough, so coming back in a few months, you aren't missing out.
Love George! I discovered him on Smart Money Happy Hour (and as a guest on Rachel's solo podcast) and laugh out loud while listening on my way home from work. So funny and knowledgable
If you are a binge watcher, rather than pay for a year of a service, pick one show at a time and ONLY sub to the service it's on. You pay a little more for the service that way but you aren't paying for multiple services at once so you can save a ton of money if you like multiple platforms.
I canceled all my streaming services except two that I regularly use. I even canceled netflix. I used to have probably $150 a month between all the streaming services. If I want to watch a show i'll sign back up for 30 days and immediately cancel, give myself a deadline to watch
If you just want a free trial or to churn a service, just cancel immediately. You'll still have the service for the length of the trial or the month that you paid... it'll just be set to cancel instead of bill at the next billing date. Heck, cancel everything immediately. Worst case scenario, you end up resubscribing and paying for the services you use.
Pause at 2:30. What can I do about it? I canceled every streaming service. I started collecting Blu-Rays again. At this point the trash coming out of Hollywood is so bad I won’t give them the time of day now, except to buy older movies and tv shows.
I haven’t spent more than $10/m in years. I paid upfront for the year for HBO when they had a deal & it ended up being like $5.50/month when you calculate it out. My sis has Netflix. My parents have Paramount +. We share accounts. Before I had Hulu when they had their Black Friday deal of $2/m
8:14 with free trials, you can cancel them immediately and still access the service until the end of the trial period. Then you don't have to remember to cancel. Often its worded in a way that makes it appear you will lose access if you cancel the trial, but then you don't
So my wife and I are binge watchers when we get into something. It works out for us because we pick a show to watch, find out what platform it's on and sub to ONLY that platform until we finish that show, then unsubscribe and move to whichever platform our next show is on. Bonus points though if it's Amazon Prime Video because we use prime for shipping for our businesses so that's the ONE service we stay subbed to.
"How have the other 15% survived?" Well, as a member of that 15%, I find engaging hobbies that don't involve me passively watching something on a screen and getting fat. There is nothing on television, cable, streaming service, etc worth paying a subscription fee for.
Great Job George Kamel with a K! We cut the cord back in 2020 and haven't really missed it- I'm a big Astros fan and just listen to them on the radio (or app on my phone) and watch the highlights about a hour after the game on RUclips. The only service we subscribe to is Disney+ because Star Wars baby! Great topic- Keep up the Awesome work!
Were old fashioned at my house. We buy dvds for $1 when theyre no longer new at red-box,& then rewatch our collection that we know we like& is clean. Occasionally my husband & i will date night in & rent for $3 off you tube videos to see if we like something. This avoids all streaming fees& helps us only spend $10 a yr to rent movies; saving more $ than our coworkers towards our HYSA
I love supporting creators & and finding everything ondemand, but I just cut them ALL off and realized it was $150 a month! I still get everything for the most part, albeit a litte later. I'm ok with that delayed gratification. So keep an eye out for those apps, streaming services, youtube membership join buttons, patreons and the like.
I only pay for discovery+ $5.59 for that sweet sweet TLC, HGTV and Food network content. Koodo had an interesting thing to tack on and stack some streaming with that service, but so far I've stuck with d+. I've had Hayu before -- and once I was done with the content I unsubscribed. It sits on my googledoc spread as one of my monthly payments so I can't forget about it.
We cancelled all TV services and only keep the Disney+ and Hulu combo for $16.23 monthly and watch the ads. We love the Star Wars content on there. I won’t pay for anything else!
I don't use any streaming, just barely have enough time for a few youtube/rumble vids.... my monthly subscription is the gym membership, i'm not one for being a couch potatoe..... (you should do a segment on payday loans, i live in chicago and areas with currency exchanges and payday/title loans have increased lately even into middle class areas, kinda scary)
...aaaaaaand Netflix cancelled. Didn't even shed a tear. Disney+ is likely next, we just don't watch enough to warrant the cost. And maybe a small message is sent with enough of us following suit.
If you're a bing watcher consider doing this: When you find out about a good show you wanna watch, sub to THAT service and ONLY that one until you finish the show then move onto the next. For instance, I just finished the Mandalorian season so I'm about to unsub from disney till the next star wars show season comes out (you can wait till the season finishes and watch it quickly in one go).
Bottom line: HULU is for my ABC & FOX; PEACOCK is for my NBC; PARAMOUNT+ is for CBS. All for my primetime shows I can watch the next day because I work 2nd shift. And also, MAX for such shows as White Lotus and SUCCESSION. 📺
Rather than bundling, I'd suggest only subscribing to one at a time. Watch all the shows you want on that service, then pick a different one 6 months down the road and keep cycling through them.
I'm new to stock market /Crypto and would like to invest but I've go no idea on how to make good profits. Pls what's the best approach you'd recommend?
I know the rules with credit cards, but my American Express card gives me a $7 dollar credit on the Hulu+ package. I get Hulu ESPN+ and Disney+ for 12.99 which is before my $7 credit. Only streaming service I pay for.
I just share login information with friends and family. I only pay for Prime but I have the ability to watch HBO, Peacock, Paramount+, Showtime, Disney+, and Hulu. The only ones i'm missing are Netflix and Apple+, I think.
which one of the major streaming services will be the first to go under and which one of the small streaming services will be the first to go under (if it hasn't done it already?)
I just subscribe 1 month and cancel it as soon as I paid (so I don't forget) only if I use that service that month. You cannot watch more than one show at a time anyway so there is no reason to subscribe to multiple services. Also I try to pause streaming for 1-2 months each year... I love playing videogames so it's not like there is nothing else to do.
I thought I was in the weirdo 15%, but I guess if you count Amazon Video, I’m not. But I would never subscribe to it as a stand alone. It comes with my regular Prime account whether I want it or not.
George League of legends is offering cosmetics on monthly payments now Its in game currencies being financed hahahha You have to talk about this on Ramsey i beg you.
If you treat your time like a precious resource, just as you do with your money, DVDs can be a fantastic choice. Streaming services often lure you into endless hours of binge-watching. However, by selecting 3-5 top-quality DVDs from the library each month, you can have a clear idea of the time you'll spend on entertainment. Plus, libraries typically offer these services free of charge, making it both an engaging and cost-effective option.
I use the free services of streaming, true, it might not be as good as payed streaming service, but there are a lot of free good content (with ads), I have a Roku stick, and I love it. They even have originals already (even though I haven't seen any of it). Besides the content from Roku I have other apps with free streaming, like Pluto, Tubi, Crackle, Plex, Angel Studio, etc. Among those you can find a lot of good movies, programs and series. Again, is not the same premium experience, but is free and it's good, there is a lot of content.
Yes but what are they consequences for them? They're making more money overall this way so they have no reason to change back. We already know that Disney does NOT have a bleeding heart or follow any kind of ethics other than what's in their own heads.
@@Spladoinkal oh for sure. The cats out of the bag, but I still blame them. Just like it is Blizzard's fault for charging for small video game expansions, haha.

I don't have 1 streaming service. I have RUclips. I also still buy physical media and have lot's of movies and shows on DVD and Blu-ray. I am happy with that
George, you are on point 👌 I’ve cancelled all my streaming services except for Netflix and even that, I cancel back and forth when I’m not streaming. The Last of Us is done on HBO, cancelled it. Not making these companies richer.
George is my favorite version of Dave Ramsey. He's my age, he's funny, he's smart, and cool.
I completely agree with you
No, he's my favorite. Get your own favorite.
Which makes Dave the GOAT!
🤣
We get it, that's awesome you are supporting your cousin out here. 😂
My wife said she does not need any streaming services because she can just watch me try to fix something around the house.
ouch. now that's a sick burn.

I’m an old granny and I LOVE George! I watch twice, once for the content and once for the snark!
I wish there was BIG streaming service where you could pay something like $10 or $15 a month and watch all the content you want without Ads (and the fear of censorship of course).
That would require these streaming companies to actually work together, which I doubt they will do.
At least Hulu,D+, Max are bundling. I think we'll be seeing more of those
Loving the content George. Ramsey is lucky to have you on the team
We don't stream. We cancelled cable years ago and use an antenna. Funny, when we cancelled cable, I barely noticed a difference.
Only have one streaming service a month, and switch them out. They don't come out with new content fast enough, so coming back in a few months, you aren't missing out.
This. Only works if you're binge watchers though.

How many dvds are you going to purchase?
You're on fire with these videos bro
Another way to save money is to pay for the year upfront. It can reduce the overall bill 30-40%. Where available, of course.
If you are a binge watcher, rather than pay for a year of a service, pick one show at a time and ONLY sub to the service it's on. You pay a little more for the service that way but you aren't paying for multiple services at once so you can save a ton of money if you like multiple platforms.
