I would be interested in some of the conclusions the class came to. Obviously, whenever there is an explosion of new media (like TV when cable arrived ) there is an expansion that occurs until a breaking point and then small individual networks merge to create mega companies. Isn't this the same thing only with streaming?
I just wish classes would be more open to conversation like this. Topics including streaming, tragedy, depression, things that you wouldn't expect to talk about in class. Like in my World Studies class, we got to talk about propaganda in modern day. Like Obama and Trump seen as Hitler, the class was asking questions for once. (Note, this class was famous for being the most quietest)
Given nearly every company that aired something on cable does a streaming service now, maybe there should be an app that combines all the streaming services, we could call it... cable......

When I play a game on a subscription service, it doesn’t feel like a full length game that I’m going to invest a bunch of time in to beat it. It feels more like an arcade game or a demo: I’ll play it for about 10 minutes, delete my save file/reset the game, and repeat. When I own a game, it’s mine forever. If I beat it, I can always have it as a trophy to say “Yeah, I beat that game.” For movies and TV shows, it’s different because once you watch it, you’ve absorbed all the information already and you’re probably not going back to it, so a subscription service is fine in that case. Playing a game from a subscription service is like your mom yelling while you’re playing with the display games at GameStop “Come on kid we gotta go, finish up the game already.” The only place where I feel like a game subscription service works is Nintendo Switch Online: Retro games aren’t nearly as long as modern games, and for many including me, they’re fun to look back on just to play the first level or two. Also Nintendo Switch Online is much cheaper than any other service, and if you already use your Switch for online games, the retro stuff is really just a cool bonus that you really can’t find anywhere else. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk, more shitty talks to come in the near future.
Switch online is kinda shit tho I mean there is no party chat they expect us to use our phones ffs Playstation plus lets you play online and gives you access to new games every month such as uncharted 4 that you can finish and enjoy.
Why are Nintendo fans so satisfied with the bare minimum? Nintendo should be giving us at the very least n64, gamecube, and gba games. I get a much better deal from both Sony and Microsoft with their subscriptions.... both of em provide CURRENT gen games many of which are released the SAME YEAR!!!! But were supposed to be happy with a few nes and snes games?!?! 🥴
Stadia suscription doesn't offer games (only one or two, like in Xbox Gold or PS Plus), but the possibility of being able to play in 4k without a gaming console or PC.

We literally just discussed the negative impact of competition on the streaming industry in my strategic management class
Lucky
Competition is actually pretty good but ofc there are also downsides
