Man, what religion does to some of us! I’m glad he’s an Atheist. Atheism is freedom!

You should check out @atheistrepublic - they just did the funniest thing about Khomeini and the pregnant period… you’ll see.

Since first hearing this guys story I would often use it as an example of how damaging teaching kids about hell is.

He found the perfect loophole. How sad what religion does to children. But good for him to be so openminded and start questioning which led him to atheism.

In few eastern philosophy there is concept of hell and heaven but it is not as important as middle eastern or western religions. Thats sad some kid goes through that.

This was the 1st time I heard his story, and it's shocking to hear that he tried to commit suicide before he was 15 years old just because he rationalized that it was his best possible option due to his cultural upbringing.

Don't hear many stories from former Muslim's moving to Atheism. Interesting to hear their story as well

This idea of hell, burning and being tortured forever, is insane to me.

I understand how he felt as a child. The torment that organized religion puts on kids is awful.

It takes so much more courage - big brass ones actually - to be in an atheist in an Islamic Republic. My hat off to you, sir. D.A. (atty/writer /New Atheist) New Jack City

I've been an atheist in the closet for many years. Excellent interview. If some says how can you be good without god? I say why did people commit atrocities with religion? Religious people believed in slavery, segregation, sanctioned religious wars, etc. I like the comments made about the afterlife and hell. In reality, hell was a concept invented by various religious groups and cultures. The concept of hell evolved and developed over the centuries. So there is no clear answer about the topic itself. Thus, religion is totally man-made. Religion is just based on people's opinions and feelings.

Absolutely! Every country needs an FFR office or foundation. We or I need one in New York so I could go to and tell my story and also to get help from these people!

The most interesting part is that, if you follow the religious logic, all his old conclusions make perefct sense.

Some people assume that if you are an atheist you are not a good person.
All people do not need fear to be good people. "Be good for goodness sake" If more of us did that, with no strings attached, we all would be better off.

I was told a story by a co worker about how he nearly injured his hand in a kitchen sink disposal and that was a definitive proof that there is a god looking out for all of us. In my mind I applied that logic to childhood cancer. I concluded that this person only cared about himself and what happened to him. 😒
