Yaaaaaas. I have put furikake on avocado toast ever since I studied abroad. A few stores like Trader Joe’s sell a premade vegan one called “nori-Komi” (“packed with seaweed”) 🙂
Oh Mary the way you brought to life that keto avocado toast was beyond elegant! I mean you already had me at the roses but then you go and make it a delicious piece of art. I am always inspired and comforted by your channel, and thank you for sharing all of your cooking adventures with us!

Ughh, how I miss soy (allergy) and gluten (also allergy). If I become allergic to nuts I may as well just call it quits on this earth. These are great recipes and I should be able to adapt them using your amazing pumpkin seed tofu and my own personal soy sauce hack.
Wow 🤤🤩 vegan and keto aren't words I've thought of as being a "thing" - these look delicious! Keep this up and I may no longer be an omnivore! ❤ Fabulous 😍
I love to take soy curls, and after their rehydrated, toss them with Sriracha, nutritional yeast, and coconut amino! Then I sear them in avocado oil! They’re delicious!
I love love love loooooooove the onion powder and garlic powder from the brand frontier co-op. Which you get at whole foods. Its just so fine. My good lord. I am forever buying it from there ❤😊
I did the fried cauliflower rice, with some other vegetables and a meat substitute a little bit different (in france we dont have so many options). Very good recipe.
I make a mixture that was inspired by recipes for furikake. I toast sesame seeds and kalonji seeds. I mix them with Aleppo pepper and seaweed flakes. Definitely not authentic but it is great on all sorts of dishes.
Hey there, but I just watched Heavenly Fan after your suggestion; I will still love you after her EXCELLENT Videos…. ANYWAY, can you add vegetables after your soy/beans/peanuts and pressing it overnight?
I tried the tofu n avocado toast n I'm hooked. It's beyond just good. I think you said before carbs make you hurt physically well me to. I feel better when I'm low carb. WHY? Does anyone know..
yay! I'm glad you enjoyed it as well. If you feel better on low carb that's great! There's tons of science out there explaining why low carb and keto make some people feel better but I think it's just so different from person to person that I would never try to guess your situation.
I would love to know the recipes for the other soy curl salads you mentioned. I just received my 1st bag ever of soy curls from amazon yesterday. And I'm brand new to eating vegan so the more recipes the better.. I am gluten free low carb
Hi Mary! Please do a video on dried/smoked tofu! I've tried to dry up some firm tofu slices and it really starts to develop character similar to salo, but I'm afraid of food poisoning and such. Need yor guidance
These days I don't track. But generally 50-60g net carbs from non-starchy vegetables and tofu. For some reason, if it's from non starchy veg, somewhat higher carb counts don't kick me out of ketosis. If there is any starchy vegetables or grains in the mix, I have to be careful to keep it lower than that.
@@marystestkitchenthank you for the answer! I have an autoimmune disorder and I'm wondering if I'd have relief from some of the symptoms like you do with staying low carb.
I was wondering why I had never had the Korean fire noodle, but it turned out I've seen it everywhere. I just assume it is not vegetarian, so I didn't look further. But I've discovered that many "meat" instant noodles where I live are accidentally vegan!
I am a non vegan and I have tried to incorporate more plant based meals, but I find I don't feel satisfied and get hungry pretty quickly. How do you feel satiated?
Second what Mary said, and I'd like to add that protein doesn't have to come from the main dish only. As an Asian, I'm used to having multiple-dish meals. I've discovered that by sneaking proteins in side dishes, salad and soup, I feel fuller for longer.
@@Bmonkeygurl Same here. In case you didn't know, Japanse, Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese cuisins all follow three to four dishes and one soup. I have a plant-based cookbook for each cuisine 😃
@@barefacedquestions I actually didn't know the specifics, just that there were many dishes. That is interesting. I will have to look at some cookbooks.
So to do vegan keto (or actually this is more low carb than strict keto, I think?), you have to eat a lot of soy tofu? Because almost all other protein sources are too high carb? For me both tofu and avokado - and also tomatoes - give me a histamin reaction and a horrible rash if I eat more than just a little. I am kind of envious on people who can actually live well on this kind of diet. I for sure can't.
This is keto in the sense that the carb count is low enough to keep me (and other fat-adapted vegan keto'ers) in ketosis. I do eat a lot of soy tofu. But I also make tofu out of other legumes/seeds/nuts too. That's how the "will it tofu" series started on this channel. Don't be envious. I wouldn't do it if I didn't have to! lol
It depends on why you're doing keto. For medical keto diets, it's essential to have a specific fat/protein/carb ratio. For people who are not fat adapted yet, it's usually helpful to have more fat for satiety. And for those who don't have enough body fat, more fat is also helpful so they don't experience unwanted weight loss. For me, who has enough body fat, I don't need to add more fat. It's more about keeping net carbs down so I can stay in ketosis which helps to keep my tendonitis away.

I can't find curls anywhere in the UK. I have to make do with the chunks. I can order curls online but they're so expensive here.
@@Jon_From_Coventry that stinks. Soy Curls are so much better in so many ways than TVP. What about Amazon?
