25 Blocked kicks is just plain insanity! No player will ever come close to that ! Had the pleasure of meeting Mr.Hendricks in person,(very friendly)& would say he is one of the all time greats. Raiders fan for over 50 yrs & for life. Go Raiders !!!- David M James
I met Ted Hendricks at a charity golf outing. He was very personable and had great stories. My brother and I are both Raiders fans. We were decked out in Raider gear for the outing which took place, ace in Chicago. Ted latched on to us at the dinner after. Great stories, big laughs, and a great memory.
💯% Packer fan for life baby‼️ I was totally bummed when Ted (#56) got traded to Oakland (#83) after just one GREAT season with the Pack. Lord knows that back in the mid-1970’s we really needed him and the two first round picks we received (Koncar & Johnson) did not equate to one Ted.
Love watching these videos! I've been a Raiders fan since the 70"s.... Takes me back to when I broke my Toy Raiders helmet doing helmet to helmet hits. Go Raiders!!!!!
I just turned 62 and been a loyal and faithful fan since I was a kid. AOC or Gardener has got to get it done this year we have got to get in the playoffs. I'm getting old people. Raider Nation baby
I knew some of them. I actually supplied Dan ( Pig Pen) Connors with a light up Raiders hat that he proudly displayed in Bulls Tavern, one of the three bars he owned. I've been a Raider fan since 1963. I was born in 1961. Even though my dad played for the Bears and the Browns, I always liked the Raiders.
I followed Ted to Hialeah High in 1967 The teachers raved about his intelligence. Am a 50 year.Raider fan and have had some of his same struggles in life. God keep you
If I had to put together an all-time team, Ted would be my WLB opposite Lawrence Taylor, my starting Sam Linebacker. His finesse and versatility would complement LT's strength and ability to bull rush
'The Mad Stork,' was Ted Hendricks at UM. His wing span was incredible. Today he would be called a Freak-someone 6'7" and only 220 playing defense in college at that time and place was way out of the ordinary. He had the hand-to-eye coordination and quickness of a 6' point guard. With the leverage his length gave him, in college he was impossible to block.
I am a Raider! I grew up in a season ticket holder family through the sixties and seventies. Cried when they moved to LA, still bled silver and black. Went to games in LA. when we could, went to games when they came back to Oakland. Cried again when they moved to Vegas, but knew they had to have a new stadium. I still, and always will bleed the colors. RN4L
#Raider4Life My parents, uncles, & cousins attended Wheatley high w/Lester Hayes parents, & Charles Philyaw Wheatley & TexasSouthern U. Our other homeboy, Cliff "Speed Kills" Branch of Worthing high & Colorado U. & Harold Hart, another Texas Southern product. My sister migrated to Oakland/Bay area in the early 70's & still resides there... LONG LIVE THA RAIDERS!
No, Despite living in the East Bay, I'm not what you would call a Raider fan. But I was a big fan of Football of that era. That was some great football.
No doubt, Ted revolutionized the outside linebacker position, as a tackler, blitzing, sacks, intersections, fumble recoveries and blocked punts, he used his physical skills n a very efficient manner. Alcohol addiction is a battle for everyone, most people drink to relieve stress and physical pains....gg, Tampa Florida
The 49ers drafted a tight end in the first round in 1978 named Ken McAffee. John Madden said in preseason games Hendricks would never go full tilt. If you didnt try to embarrass him he wouldn't embarrass you. McAffee, 6-5" 250lbs who set receiving records for Notre Dame when Joe Montana was there, made the awful mistake of clipping Hendricks in the back. Madden said he played the rest of the game like it was the super bowl. He humiliated McAffee never letting him get off the line of scrimage. Totally demoralized him. His career was badically a bust and that mistake could have possibly contributed to this. McAffee became very successful after his NFL career though. You never piss off the Stork with a cheap shot.
He was Not iconic. Good but not great, flagged many times they don't mention. Rules Changed and Raiders have not won a Superbowl since or appeared in one since 2002!
I shook hands with Ted once. His hands are like an Orangutan. His first three fingers seem like they have an extra knuckle and his thumb kind of comes straight out of hand and it creates a huge circumference. He always had them taped up in games but you can see them in his early photos. He was a MUTANT and maybe the best splash play artist I’ve ever watched. I hope he has found peace.
I was a State and National hero as a Pilot for the United States Air Force. I went on to a stellar career as an Airline Pilot before Alcoholism wiped it out.
I am a 50+ year Steeler fanatic!! That said, “The Stork” will ALWAYS be an NFL LEGEND that deserves nothing but praise & respect. Just like any of todays younger Steeler fans will always hate but respect Ray Lewis & Ed Reed, Ted Hendricks & his elite team mates laid the groundwork for eternal NFL rivalries & greatness!! #83 will always be an NFL legend!!
Was loyal & season ticket holder years until Al left LA, burned Irwindale, & began ticket reserve fee (now all nfl teams use) and moved 2 more times. Why should I fall for his disloyalty & NFLs fleecing of their fans? Nope, its a 2 way street. Great players & memories but not much of my time or money spent on them anymore. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice ..,
“Use all your well learned politesse, or I’ll lay your soul to waste…” Booze cares nothing for your résumé. She bitch slaps the big & strong, high & mighty. I’m glad the “Mad Stork” beat the rap. She picked off Mickey Mantle.
I LUV THE STORY ABOUT TED, RIDING ON THE PRACTISE FIELD ON A HORSE. SNAKE STABLER LOOKED AT COACH MADDEN AND SAID HE WILL FIT IN ,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! U tell 'em SNAKE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They’ll always be the Oakland Raiders to me and Ted Hendricks was one of the best!
Started in all three Super Bowl wins (as did Cliff Branch and Dave Dalby).
I met Ted Hendricks at a charity golf outing. He was very personable and had great stories. My brother and I are both Raiders fans. I met Ted in a bar , He liked to drink .

Ted was a great player and a great man, one of my all-time favorite RAIDERS. I truly understand the grips of alcohol.

I was a die-hard Oakland Raiders fan. The NFL , city of Oakland, and the Raiders sold out Oakland Fan base and I have stopped watching football.
