I spent 6 years with the local Explorer Post and numerous internships with the Washington State Patrol. There is not a sound I love more than that 4.6 Liter V8 roaring over the wailing siren. Brings a smile to your face every time!
Ok it seems like there's a need for some clarification again regarding this video. The call was "Injury accident, car vs. motorcycle with a fight following." We had 2 or 3 units responding to this situation. So, I hope that's serious enough for you bleeding heart - "you're driving too fast" - Monday morning quarterbacks. There's no denying that code 3 driving is a rush and one of the fun parts of the job. However, we don't just do it for some random reason or to go get doughnuts.
I don't understand all these people. Code 3 response is for a reason, and that is to get there fast, not take your time. Lights & sirens mean get outta the way, not stare and listen. I don't understand these people who say you're driving too fast. If they want you to drive the limit, then what's the point of the lights and sirens.. Honestly people, until you're in a situation where you want the police there quick, I don't think you'll understand how Code 3 responses work.
Man I love the sound of the P71 wide open. That's why I own a 2004 myself (Best year and they are amazing cars. I love mine). I don't understand why all these people are bitching about his driving. He's a first responder heading to an accident call with injuries. Was he supposed to drive like an old blue hair? If somebody is breaking into your house, do you want the cops to drive 35 MPH to get to you or do you want them there as fast as possible before the bad guy kills you. Freakin morons.
Looks like this kind of driving happens everywhere. In Colorado nobody yields the right of way to emergency vehicles either, but yet I forget to turn off my front amber flashers and they pull right over, i don't even have headlight wig wags or a siren! Stay safe and keep it between the ditches!
@marshall0792 Let me help you understand. The last thing I want is to fly by someone on the left side just as they decide to make a left turn. I need to know they know I'm there and that I'm passing them. That's why we wait until they "fly off the road into the ditch" to pass - after all - pulling over to the right is what the law requires. Hope that helps.
I enjoyed it. Who hasn't wanted to be a cop or a fireman blasting through traffic? That's why I love these videos, it puts you in their seat for the ride.
I dont care what that deputy said. I would like to see my tax money going to people who move like this to get to a call. This officer seamed like he knew what he was doing and Im sure followed policy for his agency.
@LCPDofficerGarcia Actually, it is a law: 49-625. Operation of vehicles on approach of authorized emergency or police vehicles. (1) Upon the immediate approach of an authorized emergency or police vehicle making use of an audible or visible signal, meeting the requirements of section 49-623, Idaho Code, the driver of every other vehicle shall yield the right-of-way and immediately drive to a position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the nearest edge or curb of the highway... [and stop]
Yep, I like Hi Lo too. Most of our cars don't have it. This one didn't. I've used it a couple of times, a lot of officers don't like it but that's their opinion.
@healingduck It's not unusual. The factors vary but it could be an old person who suddenly becomes confused and disoriented and needs to find their bearings, to someone who's being dense and not paying attention or someone has their music up really loud although I would expect them to see the flashing light bar. All in all, that's why officers are trained to exercise due regard when driving code 3.
@Kheldarren a lot of the newer cameras in patrol cars don't show the telemetry unless you're watching like...on a DVD player with the captioning turned on. It's weird lol, so it might be an actual patrol car camera. My dad is a state trooper in Texas and I know that's what THEIR set up is :\
@slebrechthausen City Unit's usually can't / aren't allowed to respond to county calls. Same as County can't respond to City call's Unless requested for backup etc. If there's a call in the City, Only a city unit can respond. I am a Deputy Sheriff in my county, Therefore I can only respond to County Call's.
gotta love banging on the steering wheel to change the siren. Thats why my supervisor loves me. My patrol supervisor doesnt have to bang on the steering wheel, instead, he has me control the siren. FUN FUN FUN! :D
@640101vh the frame that the crown vic rides on dates back to 1979, it's V8 dates back to 1991, and the body design dates back to 1998...some upgrades here and there through the years, but not a whole lot...what the crown vic needs is a modern design, a modern frame, a modern V8 (preferably the new 5.0 V8), a 6 speed automatic transmission, and a lower rear axle ratio..the Charger can definitely outperform the Crown Vic, but it won't outlast it..and of course the CV is gettin' replaced in Aug.
@shak0009 um its a code 3 response? its a sheriff deputy so they could be on the other side of the county so they need to move fast and usually the police are first on scene of an accident so they would provide first care and he was yielding just fine, he can see more than we can see
Something else that added to the problem is the OSHA mandated bumper mounted speakers (smaller in most cases), not near as effective as the rooftop speakers were, but I guess it's worth keeping your hearing after a run. I am a motorcycle officer, and I've noticed that when a cruiser is responding behind me, I really can't hear their siren more than probably 500 feet away... something to keep in mind when riding up on a motorcyclist. Those sirens sometimes aren't as loud as you might think.
@640101vh I wont argue with you on what you said as it's true, however as far as noisy, noisy over all or noisy at a specific speed? Because I'll look at my window and no traffic and all of a sudden a cop car goes by and no noise.
I've been in and seen Dodge Charger, CVPI and Impala police cruisers, and after driving an Impala, I relize it has a hell of a lot more power behind it than you would have to think. I wouldnt be on the curb crying if I was given an Impala rather than a CVPI, it definently does the job.
In my area, the city PD will respond and control and help until county gets there. All the city PDs do that. Is that a mounted personal camera? I ask as there is no telemetry showing. I've thought of doing that and wonder what mount you used if it is a personal camera.
@ReneReaper here it's like when an emergency vehicle hits another car while responding, it has to stop, no matter what call it was and even if they just hit the other car's mirror, they have to stop; then another unit has to take over the emergency
The Chevy Caprice with the LT-1 Corvette engine was a nice car too. I remember the Plymouth Furys w/ 440 Police interceptor, I don't want to give my age away!
Those flimsy Impala's all the departments are switching to have NOTHING on the Crown Vic! Hearing that roar from that big V8 is one of those things that makes life worth living!
I'm not with the department anymore. I was a reserve and after 8 years decided that was enough. Sheriff's dept in the Northwest, they'd rather I didn't give out the specific dept name on RUclips.
Normal light bar you would see on a black and white. Some are LED style and some have the traditional rotating mirrors. Not sure which type this was on this particular day.
Why was the siren turned off well before he arrived on the scene??? Also, I am NOT saying it is good or bad, but at the stoplight where he turned left is it normal behavior to go against traffic even though there was a clear path on the other side too???
@506jeff Everyone I saw in that video pulled over way in advance except for maybe like one person, I was actually really surprised. In my county we will be going 10-18 (our code for Code 3) and we've sat behind people for like 3 minutes hitting every siren and horn we have and they won't move. In this video there were cars pulled over so far up ahead that I didn't even see them until the camera got closer.
it never ceases to amaze me how people just freeze where they are when you are coming up code 3. yeah i was lucky enough to hand away my keys to my 05 vic in exchange for an 07 impala....yay! not really, they suck, i'd still be a mile behind him going to the same call.... keep the videos coming. i need to upload some more of mine
@marcelrotgans you are from limburg or brabant i guess then... because here in the west there are so many emergency services responding everyday that everyone knows what to do
I assume your in California. What ever happened to the Hi-Lo Sirens? On my code 3 calls, I would use that when I went against traffic on a red light - which it usually got everyone's attention. I retired after 20 years of service and relocated to N. Ca. I might be back into law enforcement, but I miss the hi/lo. There's now a strange siren that sounds like a space ship - which I hate. Also wish the air horn would not interrupt the siren when used.
Let the whiners have their way. Who knows. Maybe, just maybe. Someday. They might find themselves in a desperate, life or death situation and complain that Help didn't arrive fast enough. So. Leave your name, town, and age here. So the cops you hate, and claim you would report. Take their good old time...going CODE 3 to Dunkin Donuts BEFORE coming to hear you complain.
Traditional translation of Code 3 is "Emergency". So when you're responding Code 3, you are responding emergency. Lights and siren are just tools used request the right-of-way to make your response faster, and more safe. If you guys are going to fight over what Code 3 means, then get it right. Code
On our dept we had 10-47(non injury) 10-48(injury) and 10-48F(injury with fatality) always ran code three to a 10-48 call. Goin code 3 just gets your blood pumping. Its great.
it would be so nice if people would be more in tuned to there environment. specially when your (responding to a call) trying to get somewere. How can you not hear the sirens and pull to the right.
I know it's an old vid, but it was a good watch! Fantastic run (or blat as it's called in my area of the police); despite the idiots who didn't yield - it's a well known fact, people just don't pay the proper amount of attention whilst driving. Stay safe
its amazing. im from washington and most will follow the rule. im in south carolina and im the only one to pull over. even if it may not be a law here its at least common courtesy right?
It is absolutely disgraceful how many people fail to YIELD to an emergency vehicle. One can only hope the same people don't pull stupid shit like that when they need a fast response.
something a cop said to me once as he drove in oncoming traffic is "they may not see the lights or hear the sirens but they sure as hell will see my squad driving straight at them"
I spent 6 years with the local Explorer Post and numerous internships with the Washington State Patrol. There is not a sound I love more than that 4.6 Liter V8 roaring over the wailing siren. Brings a smile to your face every time!

That thing sure does sound pretty when she winds up.
Man I love the sound of the P71 wide open. That's why I own a 2004 myself (Best year and they are amazing cars. I love mine). I don't understand why all these people are bitching about his driving. It's so funny that the people who were yielding...brake FIRST then pull over....so smart...
The 208- I love the long straight roads in Boise.
That seemed to be a perfectly executed code 3.
Great job! And a great vid! ;)
Looks like this kind of driving happens everywhere. In Colorado nobody yields the right of way to emergency vehicles either, but yet I forget to turn off my front amber flashers and they pull right over, i don't even have headlight wig wags or a siren!
Stay safe and keep it between the ditches!
That Engine! sounds awesome
@marshall0792 Let me help you understand. The last thing I want is to fly by someone on the left side just as they decide to make a left turn. I enjoyed it. Who hasn't wanted to be a cop or a fireman blasting through traffic? That's why I love these videos, it puts you in their seat for the ride.
Awesome run--You got there safe w/o anyone injured--best type of code 3 run there is!!! Hats off to you!!!
I dont care what that deputy said. I would like to see my tax money going to people who move like this to get to a call. This officer seamed like he knew what he was doing and Im sure followed policy for his agency.
5:23 "Lord of Heaven and Earth!"
PRAISE THE LORD!

very rare to find police code 3s on here awsome job
oh baby the sound of that big ford going through the gears...sends chills down my spine everytime LOVE IT
The first half I did have it on sweep, then changed to lock because I hate sweep.
Yep, I like Hi Lo too. Most of our cars don't have it. This one didn't. I've used it a couple of times, a lot of officers don't like it but that's their opinion.
Love the song you were listening :)
@healingduck

In Texas we call it a 10-50 Major.
The Siren is a Unitrol Touchmaster.
I love the sound of the Ford V-8 Police Interceptor.
That was txt book on how to run code to get to a call. Very well done. My hats off to the officer.
I completely agree. The new Interceptor sounds like a lawnmower. And this siren is also one of the best. R.I.P Crown Vics
gotta love banging on the steering wheel to change the siren. Thats why my supervisor loves me. My patrol supervisor doesnt have to bang on the steering wheel, instead, he has me control the siren. FUN FUN FUN! :D
I agree, I like how you slowed down at the red lights. I know when i was learning to drive the ambulance it was a point they stressed
@tangapirat depends on what state your in, you could be 3 months or 3 years of training.
All I can say if this guy is the first responder and im bleeding out at the side of the road, Im glad hes driving fast. Nice driving.

Love that engine sound and siren i will miss the crown Victoria and its 4.6 L

Hey man, what cruiser is that you drive? Crown Vic'?

The siren is a Unitrol (Federal) Touchmaster, I have on in my car too.
nice run. glad to see someone 33 that knows what their doing. stay safe.
The Chevy Caprice with the LT-1 Corvette engine was a nice car too.
I remember the Plymouth Furys w/ 440 Police interceptor, I don't want to give my age away!
Love that he hits the gas to get through the yellow light around 2:40. You and I aren't so different after all...
Those flimsy Impala's all the departments are switching to have NOTHING on the Crown Vic!

Great sound. Thanks to the officers that will do this.
Dude love your radio station.
Nice Driving, it's amazing how fast you got there considering people wouldn't yield. Stay safe out there.
man, u just gota love that v8
love the song at the end, very nice touch!
Now those are beautiful sounds, the growl of the engine and the siren. Which siren is that?
@Damn876 I know that's the same motor as the mustangs, do the new crown vics have the new mustang motors?
nice video and sirens. love the roar of your
v8 engine is it a 4.1 l?
Why was the siren turned off well before he arrived on the scene???
Also, I am NOT saying it is good or bad, but at the stoplight where he turned left is it normal behavior to go against traffic even though there was a clear path on the other side too???
@506jeff they can down in huntsville paramedics are allowed to hit people that dont move

Good run. You've got the public well-trained, too.
Awesome video...great response. Listen to that motor roar, gotta be a Vic
@marcelrotgans you are from limburg or brabant i guess then... because here in the west there are so many emergency services responding everyday that everyone knows what to do
nice siren work what siren you running and lightpackage?
At 2:49, is that another police vehicle headding in the opposite direction, looks like a Crown Vic, just wondering.
Do your vehicles have stoplight (strobes?/radio?) to change them to green?
Guess that proves that you can get in a wreck on a code run. Thanks for the wisdom.
ommmggggg that sounds soo goood keep em coming bro drive safe
Looks fun, feeling the tunes at the end. Where do you work?
I assume your in California. What ever happened to the Hi-Lo Sirens? On my code 3 calls, I would use that when I went against traffic on a red light - which it usually got everyone's attention. @08polaris500HO yeah , the 2-1 kickdown is my favourite .. that happens at somewhere around 1:50 :)
great video whats that for a siren?
upload more of these
Good driving. I work as an EMT and it's always best to have police on scene...good response, and be safe!
Whats up with the music when you arrive? Guys have radios in the car? Nice run though, gotta love that crown vic sound....
Wonder what the other officer at 2:49 clocked you running? Good response! (And good choice in music at very end of clip). Be safe!
what's the siren model?
i've alerady been searching for these where th first loop of wail/yelp is in a lower tone.
the sounds of an american v8 and sirens gets my blood pumping

Great vid ! What car are you driving?
Was that a police unit at 2:48 on the left side of the road after the lights

oh good, YEESSSS.... police code runs! thank you sooo much! - Peace and love from Norway
lol @506jeff isnt that what the ram bars are for on the front of the patrol car? hahah
I can't stop watching 1:55! It makes me really wish I didn't sell my '06!
I know it's an old vid, but it was a good watch! Fantastic run (or blat as it's called in my area of the police); despite the idiots who didn't yield - it's a well known fact, people just don't pay the proper amount of attention whilst driving.

@atatistcheff
My god, are all the people in your city deaf and blind? Barely anyone yielded. Some very nice driving though, love my 05' cvpi haha
@jjoncm1 Don't they limit most of then at 120? That's not most cars now days...
do you haved the rumbler installed in your unit now?
its amazing. im from washington and most will follow the rule. im in south carolina and im the only one to pull over. even if it may not be a law here its at least common courtesy right?
OMG I love the Sound of the Engine !
love the song on the radio at the end
I love at the end we come to find out that you were listening to worship music while hauling tail to this call.
It is absolutely disgraceful how many people fail to YIELD to an emergency vehicle. One can only hope the same people don't pull stupid shit like that when they need a fast response.
I was wondering if you still work for the county? If so you still patrol that area?
damn that car purrrs!! great video!
You gotta love responding Code 3, definitely an adreniline rush.
something a cop said to me once as he drove in oncoming traffic is "they may not see the lights or hear the sirens but they sure as hell will see my squad driving straight at them"
