USING A SMALL DISPLACEMENT MOTOR FOR A HUGE VEHICLE and then using forced induction to try to make them powerful IS NOT OK.

Giving someone cash for their car is better than going through lawsuits for loss of use, rental cars, etc. and still losing your reputation in the industry.

One thing is for sure, Toyota is going to get really good at swapping engines out. That means the whole computer will have to be swapped out as well, I would imagine. The thing about the Koreans is getting an engine swap is like pulling teeth. They try everything to void your warranty and get out of it. Just like Dodge. Is this going to be the same way? And speaking of Dodge, Fortunately for me, I put catch cans on my 2018 Pentastar and we just took pictures at 24,000 miles and the inside of the combustion chambers and valves all look like new, even after they were black. I put a supercharger on it at 9,000 miles and the intake manifolds were already soaked in oil and the piston tops were already coated black. This is how I found out about it. They ruined that engine. Me, actually by voiding my warranty and putting on the supercharger, saved the engine. And also gave me 600 hp while it was at it. And the supercharger and the catch cans cleaned it right up. And a beautiful cross hatch is plainly visible. The rings are doing a really nice job even at 11 to 1 compression. And American cars are junk. GM always has been and now Ford. Yeah, cheap plastic, UNDER THE HOOD HAS DONE THEM IN. There is no excuse for breaking parts just by taking them out. You couldn't give me one of their vehicles today. Any of them!

But yea it still costs a pretty penny to fix that’s for sure!

I do have to admit, at least Toyota is handling the issue. Most manufacturers will sweep it under the rug.
    Example: GM 8 speeds.

I think Toyota had no choice but to recall the engines. Metals were found in the engines. You blow an engine which many owners were, Toyota is on the hook for getting the engines replaced.

I have another example. My 1975 Chevrolet Vega. No Chevrolets in my driveway since then. Not taking care of problems can be costly long term as customers leave.

@@oleradiodudea.m.4735 - true, my brother bought a 74 Vega wagon off my aunt when he turned 16. That car was a complete POS but it was running and cheap transportation for him. He learned a lot of car repair from that car. It was a disaster of a car though.
My mom had a 1977 Chevy Impala wagon at the time that by comparison got 500,000 miles out of its 350cu inch engine before she got rid of it. Chevy was moving in two different directions at roughly the same time at that point in the 1970's.

Stop saying Toyota is doing the right thing. NHTSA put them on the spot and Toyota had to make that call. No car company wants to spend that much out of the goodness of their hearts.

@@thiaguinhooitodois2211 please do your research before commenting. This is a voluntary recall. Toyota brought it to NHTSA’s. Attention. Most manufactures will wait till everything blows up until they’re forced to cover it. Toyota actually stepped up and said these are the issues were seeing and let’s do a voluntary recall.
