Hi...its coming along very rapidly buy i don't think we will have it ready for the Overland Show which will be a shame..all we have got to do really is put the body on and its a running driving vehicle but i don't think i will get the rear tray built as its gonna involve a bit more fabrication.
As someone who has recently gone through all of this I feel I qualify to properly sympathise! Unfortunately I didn't have anyone to help so I ended up having to bolt 4x hardwood legs to the chassis. This enabled me to roll everything under -but I am also on a gravel hill in the Australian subtropical bush -and I decided to build it in our summer 🤷♂...anyway, so why do we do this to ourselves again?? -On the plus side, I just took the freshly built rig on tour and it was a great success. Made all the effort worth it 🍻
Hi mate...first of all i can sympathise with your build as well as that sounds way harder than mine...but why oh why do we put ourselves through this? except for the satisfaction of having that freshly built truck that we know every nut and bolt of and no matter where we are if it breaks down we can probably fix it.
Golden opportunity to paint the chassis, 2 coats Corroless outside, Dinitrol or Bilt Hamber S50 inside & it's protected pretty much indefinitely. Imho looks much better shiny black than dull Galv with rusty red spots after it's started to deteriorate (Shiny Galv is lovely but unfortunately stay like that)? Your truck,, chassis looks great tho! I was going to pull the front axle for some repairs and re-painting, but my drive is pea gravel on a slope, and having watched this, I may rethink that idea!
Hi...we are not gonna paint the chassis as its a pain to get paint to stick to galvy anyway it stone chips really easily even if you acid etch it...so we are going to lanoguard it all when we finish inside and out. And a for removing the front axle its a paint..Trust me!
I feel your pain. All my vehicle work is done at the front of my house, I don’t even have a garage. You have done all the hard work now, everything else is just nuts and bolts 😂
Hi mate..Yes its no fun rolling around on the floor...really want to get a place with a two post lift. I think the hardest bit is yet to come as we have got to get the body off in one piece and lower it onto the chassis thats gonna be fun.
Hi..it has been a massive amount of work i am fortunate at the moment as i have been off work with this back injury so i thought i would move heavy chunks of Landrover around and definately will be a really good truck when finished though.
Hi..yes i have thought about putting dual shocks on the rear but the aim of this rebuild is to reduce the weight of the truck overall and alot of the cracking in the old chassis was just due to the chassis rotting out from the inside out but will see how much it weighs when we get it back together.
Hi mate...it is going to be a great truck when its done i think...as for treating the holes with where they have been drilled out i have only taken the excess galvy off and there is still a layer of galvy in there so they won't rust and most of the bolts have already been treated with lanoguard grease..i always used to put grease on all the bolts when i was putting them in i don't bother too much these days as they don't stay in long enough but i do put grease on those that are going to be on for a long time.
@@calvinstorer there is some ash staining on the back and there is some rust staining on the back right hand side of the crossmember the ash is to be expected as it is a second hand chassis but does not affect the galvy
Hi...the reason we took the wheels off as they would not clear under the body of the other truck for removal given the size of the tyres. The rear axle we could not wheel out cos of the legs the canopy is sitting on and we couldn't lift the front high enough to clear the wheel arches so just easier to drop it to the floor and drag it out.
Couldn’t lift the body any higher cos of the canopy is sitting on the legs behind the vehicle so as I said in the video when we did lift it the angle was pulling on the canopy and nearly pulled out the rivnuts so only option is to remove the wheels in hindsight should have pulled the body further away from the canopy but too late once already removed one of the axles
Hi...we do use resealable freezer bags to keep a track of the small stuff but its just the quantity of all the bits that come off the truck you just run out of space so its just easier to bolt them back on to where they are going.
Coming along, be very impressed if you have this ready for the overland show 👍

@All4Overland looking forward to seeing it finished 👍
You and me both mate.
Well, it's coming on leaps and bounds mate! Fantastic work! 💪👍
Hi Mate..its definately coming along i will send you some pictures later.

Absolutely been smashing it out this week pal! Its looking awesome so far!!!
Its definately coming together mate...there is something about that freshly galvied chassis..
@All4Overland Definitely pal. It's giving me ideas! 🙈🙈🤣🤣

Astonishing amount of work and wherever do you get the time to work on it. Be a good truck when she's finished though.

Due to the previous chassis cracking and additional load, Have you considered dual shocks at the rear to reduce percussion stress on the chassis?

Going to be a great truck just wondering why didnt you treat the holes when you cleaned them out and put anti seize on all the bolts

Is that some sort of weird reaction in the galvi at the back?
About 29 mins in

Daft question...why not leave the wheels on the axle, lift the car & chassis with crane wheel axle out & in

@@All4Overland I got clearance by gaining elevation from the crane

That chassis is big as when you're lent against it you look like you're smaller than you are 😂
Hi mate...the chassis is big but also i am quite small lol.
the unsafest sow on earth ffs lol
That’s not the sketchiest thing I have ever done mate
Keep track of your bits using labelled sealable food bags and labelled boxes. 👍🏻🙏🦘
